Keller Realty Property Management

Might be the worst run business I have ever dealt with. We went in with everything ready, application, deposit and fees. All ready to go. Once in this place, we have them all of what we needed and they told us they would let us know between «3−5» business days. Well two weeks goes by and we are getting a bit frustrated. We call them and they told us they haven’t even started looking at our applications and they were rude and extremely unhelpful. Getting our application deposit back was a whole other process. No one seemed to know what was going on, which is probably why this is the worst reviewed property management company in ALL of Northern Nevada.
Please avoid at all costs. There are much better property management companies around Reno. These types of companies are suppose to make the buying/​rental process easier. Keller gave us the opposite of that.

I can probably think of other things to call them, but Ill keep it classy.
It took them 2 weeks to process my application 2 WEEKS! Everyday I would call they would say, everything looks good, call back this afternoon and we’ll have an answer. So, due to the fact that «everything looked good», we stopped looking for a home. Two weeks later we get denied due to the MORONIC way that they «score» you as an applicant. Now, here we are 8 days before we have to move out of our current residence STARTING OVER!
I AM BEYOND PISSED.
NEVER DO WORK WITH KELLER!
The reason that she gave me as to why it has taken so long and why she has no time to sit with me to discuss our denial is because she is preparing for court. NOT GOOD!

It’s hard to believe that not only a business this terrible exist, but also that people with such tasteless characters exist. I know this is long, but it just gets worse and worse and I would be remiss if I left anything out.
When I first moved in, the apartment had obviously not been cleaned. There was food in the refrigerator, sizable holes in the walls, and when I cleaned the bathroom floor it turned a completely different color (yikes!). The very first morning I woke up in the apartment I went into the bathroom and saw that the toilet was constantly running and leaking and the bathroom floor was flooded. I called the management and no one answered so I left a message, and I also emailed. I ended up having to google how to fix the problem, fix it myself, and ruin some of my towels soaking up the water because rust from the toilet left them stained. Eventually I heard back from management a week later.
A couple of months in it started to get rainy in Reno, and I found out my roof had leaks in my bedroom. It soaked my bed and ruined several books. I called the management company I think three times, both leaving messages and talking to someone, telling me I’d be called back, and I left emails. No one contacted me about coming out to fix it for FOUR MONTHS! By that time I had already spent days caulking up the ceiling myself.
When I first moved in they told me I could pay my rent in person or by leaving it in the after hours drop box, so I had been doing that for a couple of months. Then they told me they would no longer be accepting payment that way and I would have to start paying online, or pay an extra fee and pay at a gas station. They gave me three days to set up my account and pay this new way, when typically you’d be given at least a few weeks advance notice when changes like that are being made. So I paid my rent, got a conformation that it had gone through, and then ten days later was told that it had actually not gone through and they were charging me $ 250 in late fees. I was told on the phone that I would need to come in to discuss it, but I was out of town for a month so I had to put it on hold.
The next month I paid my rent but was unable to go dispute the $ 250 fee because things were busy. The next month I received a note on my door telling me I was being evicted and when I checked my account I saw that they had put my last months rent toward that fee I was disputing and they were charging me daily late fees! It had gotten up to something like $ 800 in fees!
This is when it really got deplorable. My fiancé and I went in to talk to someone about what had happened. We sat down at a desk across from one woman and DeeDee and her daughter came in and stood over us. The whole time DeeDee kept saying things like, «This is how renting works» and, «Now that you’re an adult you need to start doing adult things.» I’m 30 years old. I’ve been renting for years. Then she addressed my fiancé saying, «I know you just want to take care of your little girl, dad.» Nice.
After we’d had enough of that, my fiancé was getting frustrated so we decided to leave. We said we’d pay the fees but we’d be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. At that, DeeDee’s daughter started shouting that we were threatening them and yelled at us to leave.
This all happened! In a place of business!

As a former renter I can honestly say these people are the worst. They never answered our calls for maintenance and kept our 2^nd deposit until after we moved out because «we asked for it too late». We paid all our bills on time and were still treated like children. There were so many made up rules that they didn’t tell us about that it was impossible to keep up and even after reading our lease we had to call several times to ask about certain processes. Horrible at communicating with the tenants and expected us to accommodate house viewings on very short notice (sometimes within 3 hours of calling). By the end we were just happy to get our deposits back and leave this realty company.

Never had any real issues while living in one of the properties they managed. The big issue came after i moved out, leaving the place better than i found it. Dee Dee is the most disorganized, unapologetic, and confused «professional» I have ever met. She appears nice when you are applying for a rental because she wants your money but be aware she doesn’t want to give it back. It took me four trips to their office, a couple dozen phone calls and four months to get my full deposit back. They don’t return phone calls. i could go on longer but I won’t. I would never rent from again and if I had property to rent I would stay far away from them as property managers.

I really don’t understand all this hatred on this page regarding this company and Dee Dee… very nice people to deal with, they are courteous and they immediately work on issues asked of them. It is their job to get «good renters», have them sign leases, fix stuff. Some homes are old — and without a complete «redo» by the owners, all Dee Dee and folks can do is try their best to maintain the property. Which in my experience is what they do. Folks… I think there are some bitter people on this page which go way deeper than this company and their staff. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Had a bit of a hiccup getting going, but once we figured out what happened the staff was incredibly apologetic and got right on it. Took about a week and a half to process everything. I hope going forward this will be a positive experience and we can have a great house to call home.

Their realtor was nice to me. But when I walked in to their office they had dogs and I brought mine since it was a hot day and this rude old lady in the front office asked me to go out because there were dogs inside and to take my dog out. And nobody bothered to assist me! I was waiting outside of their office for someone to get me and then nobody did. I go back inside with my dog inside the car this time, to pay a $ 20 application fee and I’ve never heard back from them after that! Luckily for me, I got the place that I wanted and didn’t care. But what if I banked on them? Things would’ve been tougher for me. They seem like unreliable people/​business to me

It’s hard to rate the entirety of this company when we only met with one person, but from that experience, I would agree with the majority of other Unilocal raters based on my experience.
It was an awful experience working with the «property manager». We, as a couple, are thorough inspectors and had many questions about the property, as everybody should when renting a space from total strangers. We asked about below par aspects of the apartment, such as the half broken closets. With each question he shrugged his head with no answer to whether they would get fixed and no follow up to whether he would try to get them fixed.
He had no information for us, whether we would be responsible to pay for water or not. He seemed pretty clueless in general about the property, which is strange because he had a paper about the property’s specs in front of him. I should have known based on the fact he screens his phone calls, which is odd when your job is out in the field.
We were actually going to fill out the applications to get this property because we loved the space, but at the end of the walk through, when he was standoffish and pretentious, we decided we didn’t want to support a company who didn’t know how to speak to potential customers appropriately.
Recommendation: Don’t use this company to find a house/​apartment in Reno

I used Keller Realty to help rent out a property of mine. I wouldn’t suggest anyone use them. They are so unorganized and it take forever to get anything done.

First and foremost let me just say that I made this Unilocal account just to leave this company an honest and a very deserving review of 1 star. If I could leave a negative rating I would. Me and my roommates requested if we could get out of our lease early and when they found a renter they gave us two days to get out and my roommates and myself all have full time jobs. This put us in a pretty bad situation. So we figured everything out and they said that we could stay in another house until the end of the month, well we get a call one afternoon, while we are all at work, and they said that we had to be out of the house within the next three hours, and it is the middle of the month, not the end. We have tried to be very patient with this company, paid all of our bills on time with them and we were treated like children whenever we spoke to them. We were always belittled and if something went wrong with the house that we were renting, they would send one of their people to come fix it, but later that week end up with an expensive bill from them when it is supposed to be covered by them from a faulty fixture to a faulty fuse etc. There are a few people in the office that are very nice but the «upper management» are very rude, inconsiderate, and not professional by any stretch of the imagination. This review may seem harsh, but as I said in the beginning, it is very deserving. I hope this review is helpful and a heads up to those who may possibly rent from this company.

If I could choose zero I would. I manage a successful company in town and was in awe of how bad there customer service was. Very unprofessional and shady. State board needs to take a look at there unethical practices. I was interested in renting a home that they managed. Set up an appointment with realtor at 3:30. She calls me shortly before and stated that the appointment was at 3:15. No big deal and went early. Decided that I liked the property and called the following morning to do the applications. Went there to turn in application and stood in hallway for ten minutes until knowledge me and told me to walk towards the back of office. Waited another ten minutes until the lady got off the phone. She took my money and application and said the house was rented. She said I would be second in line for the house. Then she wanted to argue about my year to date not being on my pay stub. I had to point it out to her… my eight years in the mortgage and real estate industry in imprinted in my mind. Two days later I get a call from Anna and she told me she was going to process my application and credit for the house. She told me that the owner did not want to rent the house to someone that owned 5 cats and I was next on the list. Two days later I get a call from a lady named Becky that I did not get the house. I asked hew what happened and she got defensive and said the house was rented to some one else. I asked to speak with Anna and she said that she is out off the office. I called back an hour later and ask is Anna was available and she said yes, asked my name and got back on the phone and she left for the day. I called back later and asked for the broker and told him of my experience with his company. He apologized and said he will look into it. And hour later I got a call from Becky stating that they know I contacted there broker and he talked with his property manager and she was pissed and told be to come to there office to get my deposit. They were the most unprofessional office I have dealt with and plan on file a complaint state of nv real estate division.

ANOTHER FOR ZERO STARS!!! Terrible awful people work for this company. «Dee Dee» whom is property manager, is a swindler, she is RUDE, talking to you as if you were a 3 year old! I have been renting my apt for 3 years and when Keller took over everything turned to s**t! I cannot WAIT to get out of my lease! I could go on and on and on and on about how BAD this place is… so please…
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE CROOKED!!!

I was looking for a property management company to take care of my house in Reno. I called and the receptionist said I needed to talk to DeDe, who handles prop man. Left a message on 2 – 21, no call back. Called again on 2 – 25, left message for DeDe. Today is 3 – 15, never got a call. Maybe they’re just too busy. And to think they’re accredited with the BBB?

Too bad zero stars is not an option. All the positive reviews are obviously shams. I have rented for eighteen years in three different states, and I have never had the misfortune of dealing with such an unprofessional, unorganized, joke of a management company. I could go on paragraph after paragraph about all the complete crap we dealt with once renting from these people. I’ll sum it all up.
These people must work for pennies. They take on a lot of properties in the slum hole behind a gas station on Mill St. category. Somehow they are weaseling their way into Double Diamond and Damonte Ranch. The ‘manager’, Deedee, is a total terror to deal with. The only thing she is good at is lying and being an awful person. Everyone you speak with, for any reason, will have no clue what you are talking about because they are so unorganized. They lie incessantly. The secretary, or whatever she is, Anna, is the boss’ daughter so this gives the uneducated, immature twit leeway to act like a sarcastic little snot.
They will cheat you out of any money possible. They threaten you, speak to you like you are a child, even if you are well into your thirties, and when you try to reason with them, you will be left wanting to rip your hair out wondering how the heck these people are in business. Save yourself the stress and do not rent from them. NOT worth it. Saving grace however — be grateful you aren’t them! Miserable in their trashy, dark little office.

I have rented from many property management companies in the past and have had a wonderful experience. This has not been the case at Keller realty. They are extremely rude… don’t fix things… and never send you the utility bills until 2 – 3 months after the fact… and don’t even try to read their ledgers they are completely unreadable.
Oh and Heather L. above I am pretty sure is an employee of Keller Realty. Either that or it must be a huge coincidence that a Heather L. works at Keller. So take it with a huge grain of salt.
Oh and one more thing… they don’t take online payments (they must be in the Stone Age)

ZERO STARS!!! I lived at a place under previous mgt… once Keller took over I was screwed! 1^st thing is that demanded that I signed a new lease… I had already lived there for 2 years… but I signed a 1 year lease… During that one year, Keller went into my storage unit and «accidentally» threw away not only my things but others as well — however, I caught them in the act… they only offered me $ 100 for all the damage, missing items, etc. During which time, they also hired an ex-​student… and paid him under the table (breaking the law). Then during the winter, my heater went out and they would not fix it over the weekend — I was freezing. They offered me a space heater rather than sending someone out. Now that I moved out, they made up a date days later than when I gave notice and they are purposely WAITING all 30 days to return my deposit. When I called, they said they wont even cut the check til then not to mention, they listed things that I would have to pay for — far exceeding my deposit. I lived in an apartment for 3 years without ever having the floors cleaned prior to me moving in let alone the walls cleaned, etc. (and I begged for them to be done to no avail!!!) AND NOW I AM LOSING MY DEPOSIT BECAUSE THEY JUST WANT TO CLEAN IT FOR THE NEXT PERSON!!! STAY AWAY FROM KELLER!!! RUDE ASS PEOPLE WHO BREAK THE LAW!!!

Apparently, I was too harsh and my first review removed. I tried to rent out my house through them and it was not a good experience. They put both the maybe renter and us in a bad position! They lack kindness, honesty and just simply how to run a good business. It still boggles my brain how they could lie to me and be so rude. I can’t believe anyone would rate them well, it has got to be fake. Just want to warn the general public not to use them, so no one has to go through what we did.

My girlfriend and I lived at a property (1244 Laredo Ct. Reno, NV) that Keller took over as property manager, right from the get go it went downhill. The property a 40 year old condo that has never seen an upgrade and I mean right down to the carpet and tile (broken tile and frayed carpet everywhere) we asked to get a minor repair taken care of, the manager Dee Dee (who is a liar and rude) sends one of her inept maintenance guys out to fix the return air cover (which kept falling off the ceiling) and breaks our dinner table chair using it as a ladder, of course we expect them to fix it and all we got was Dee Dee calling me a dick on the phone and a letter literally in the mail the next day increasing my rent $ 250 more a month. I didn’t respond to her or the letter as it was not certified I then filed a complaint with the Nevada Real Estate Division, within a week of that I was served with a 30 day vacate order. We had other more serious issues with the condo but after dealing with Dee Dee we figured we would be better off moving then have to deal with this abuse in the future, I hate to say better someone else then me, but… One thing I know for sure Dee Dee/​Keller will put property owners in the negative running their homes for them. Look elsewhere for your property management needs…
Research NRS 118A and find retaliatory landlord laws, Keller breaks alot of them, how they continue to get away with it I don’t know…

Renter Beware!
I’m not one to gripe about everything and everyone. Check out my other reviews and you’ll see that. But this company should come with a warning label.
About a month ago my husband and I filled out an application to rent a home through Keller Property Mgmt. We had viewed the place and met some of the lower level staff. Who were all pleasant and helpful.
After getting the call that our application had been approved we made an appointment to sign the lease. We quit looking at other homes assuming (stupidly) we had a place.
The day of the lease signing comes. Hubby takes off work early to be at the appointment. We arrive and meet the ‘property manager’ whom we had not previously met. While sitting in his office he asks, offhandedly, what day we want to move in. We tell him 30 days, we have a minimum notice at our current place. He immediately gets very huffy and annoyed and says they can’t wait that long. We tell him that the date was on our application (our approved application). He shuffles through some paperwork and says he has to make a call. He calls what appears to be his boss. After listening to him talk for 10 min or so he gets of the phone and says they won’t honor our move-​in date. When we question him he (smugly) says they don’t have to honor it because they didn’t sign anything.
His solution is for us to pay 2 weeks of the rent to hold the house. (while we continue to pay at our current place) When my husband presses him he says — the owner is on the fence, if he doesn’t get someone to rent the place in the next two weeks he is going to short-​sell. Nice. Soooo we would have been renting a house that the owner may have decided to sell at any point. That’s very comforting.
Frustrated we asked for our application fees back. While waiting for the (nice) receptionist to write us a check, I commented on the lack of apology by the ‘property manager’. He then proceeds to say something to the effect of «I’m sorry, but If it makes you feel any better, the person who approved your application doesn’t work here anymore’. As if I would be happy to hear they lost their job.
Even with the above-​mentioned fiasco I WOULD NOT HAVE BOTHERED to write a negative review. I totally understand that people make mistakes. We are all human. But part of being in business is trying to do what is best for the customer and if there is a problem offering a sincere apology — even if you were not the person responsible for the issue. That is just good business practice. And being rude and snotty to the customer does not help one bit.
I can’t imagine renting a home from someone with such a high and mighty — not my problem — — to bad so sad — there’s nothing you can do about it — horrible attitude.
