My husband and I are so happy we found Rising Sun Auto Service. Orlando and Francisco are very knowledgable and honest. Their price was very competitive and there were no surprises or added costs at the end. When the job was completed Orlando raised the hood and pointed out all the he had done, then took us over and showed us the old parts that he’d removed. The bottom line is, this place was a real find and I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for mechanics that are friendly, honest and talented!

The Service: The owner, Francisco, is very friendly and efficient. He doesn’t up sale you any other service. He gives you honest opinion and suggestions.
The Price: Super super super affordable! You can even buy your own parts from Pepboys or Autozone and they just charge you label fees. Compared to other chain stores, it is so much cheaper for the service and repair!

It’s pretty sad that someone would give it a bad rating because the old owner no longer there. Pretty dumb if u ask me. The rating should be for the service u have received.
Anyways I’ve only had service done by Francisco and he is super honest, great mechanic and not full of shit. His main priority is ur car! Plain and simple. He isn’t in business to steal from u or to make u pay more than what ur car really needs. Very knowledgeable!!! He doesn’t sugar coat anything, he tells u what u need, the cost and what will happen if u don’t get it fixed immediately. As a matter of fact most mechanics in that center come to ask him for advice or ways to fix something.

I agreed with Stacy, Francisco is a better mechanic and his price is more reasonable. He has more knowledge than Frank in many areas. He fixed my Toyota air conditioning, but Frank didn’t.

My husband always insisted on using this place when it was run by Frank and I was always happy with the quality of service and the fair prices. Frank retired and Francisco now runs it. Francisco is an even better mechanic IMO. I have a ’93 Lexus that was 1^st my grandma’s then my mom’s and now mine. It was in need of tranny work plus everything from hoses and seals to water pump & timing belt. My husband wanted me to dump the car and get something else but since it’s so old and needed so much work I couldn’t get enough for it to replace it. But Francisco brought it back to life for me for way less than I could’ve replaced it for (& less than others quoted for just the tranny). Thank you Francisco for keeping a 3^rd generation vehicle in the family!

I miss Frank too. Last time I had a check engine light, he read the codes, looked at the gas cap, and said replace it. No charge. Problem fixed. Today the owner sent the kid out who told me it’s $ 35. Um, all kinds of places will do that free. Guess I’m looking for a new mechanic after a lot of years. Enjoy retirement, Frank!

I Been coming here for years. Its under new management. I was happy before and I’m happy now. Francisco is running the place now. Very knowledgeable and great on the prices. If anyone needs work on their vehicle I highly recommend this place. Honest and friendly staff. Will definitely bring my car back and my families as well.

Based on a neighbor’s opinion and all the good Unilocal reviews, I took my car to Frank at Rising Sun Auto, and I have to say, everyone is so right. Frank will give you a straight up diagnosis of your problems, fix them quickly, and doesn’t charge an arm and a leg. SO very happy with the repairs he performed, would recommend to anyone. Definitely put your trust in Frank, he’s great!

I have been servicing my 3 cars with frank for maybe 8 years, happy with his honesty and fare, not the cheapest but within reasonable fare and most important honest, cause you don’t even know whats wrong with the car especially if you have car that already hit 150 k miles or more

A and A’s sister have been coming to this auto service for literally YEARS (for just about anything/​everything) and they love the service here as well as Frank. Anytime I’ve had car troubles, they’re always tell me to go to Frank, if only he was in Irvine!
I have gotten a couple quotes from him, like one time my car was totally busted (ended up just selling it instead of fixing it which is why it never went through) and out of the many auto centers I checked out, Frank had the best deal and not only that, he really talked me through my options and explained to me what he would do and why.

Car broke down near there, used Unilocal,had my car towed on Sunday, then noticed it only had six reviews, got a little worried, got great service, cheaper than three other quotes. Frank is my new mechanic.

Several months ago, I needed my parking shifter fixed for my Acura Integra. I was referred to Frank by a family friend who has been going to Frank for over a decade.
I had an idea that certain components needed to be replaced/​cleaned and re-​greased so that my parking mechanism didn’t lock, causing my key to lock in the ignition when I turned it off on cold days.
Here is where Frank is great. After getting cost estimates, I was ready to spend $ 150 to $ 250 for parts + labor to POSSIBLY get it fixed from other auto repair shops. Frank wasn’t exactly sure what would be the best solution, so what does he do? He goes with the safest and cheapest solution which was to disable the parking shift-​lock before replacing components and totaling removing the control panel. I don’t know if it’s the correct term but it basically makes you press the brake pedal before shifting in and out of park. He charged me $ 25 for labor to re-​grease the shift mechanism and unlock the component (sorry that I don’t know the correct terms). It worked! No more key ignition lock problems.
Frank is honest, first and foremost, and doesn’t take advantage of you. This is an example that Frank is mindful of keeping costs down to save you money. Even if this solution didn’t work, I would still give him 5 stars because this experience made me feel that Frank is a guy you can trust won’t try to take advantage of you financially.
That goes a looooong way in auto mechanic work.

Frank seems like an honest mechanic.
I usually take my car to him to do oil change because there has been no issue with my car. I would tell frank that that car maintenance at the dealer said I would need new this and that .and he would tell me straight up that I do not need it right now.
I would trust Frank with my car problems.

Frank is reliable and very honest. He never pushes services or products that your car doesn’t need and always looks for ways to save you money. He has been our family mechanic for over 10 years and I highly recommend his services.

My whole family has used Frank for repairs to all of our cars for more than 7 years! He has ALWAYS been fair, honest and affordable and the repairs are always done right the first time. I don’t even consider going another mechanic shop. There is just no need when you finally find an honest mechanic. 5 years ago we moved 80 miles away from Reseda and STILL take our cars to Frank for repairs large or small. This is less a review and more of a ‘Thank you’ to Frank for over 7 years of honesty.

Rising Sun owner/​mechani Frank is very honest and direct, he does a very good job and will not BS with you. I been taking my vehicles to him since I started driving in 96. Frank is the type of guy that will not tell you «you need this, you need that» just to make some business. Frank will straight tell you what’s wrong with your car and then fix it.
