I have only been here to get my eyebrows waxed or threaded. Let me tell you, the woman who waxes creates a glorious eyebrow. She is quite pleasant to talk to (or not talk to if that’s your thing). It is a little more pricey than what I am used to paying (around $ 20). But it’s worth it to not have to draw on my eyebrows because some lady got wax happy.

The front desk lady was nice, and I was able to see someone immediately on just a walk-​in with no appointment. I wanted a shellac manicure, and the technician used 2 lights instead of 1. This seemed like a plus to save me time. But, I got the impression that the overall service was being rushed. The overall look of my nails is very sloppy, like what I would get for trying it myself instead of paying someone. There is polish on my skin. One of my fingers is bleeding a little. I can already identify a couple little bubbles where I know my shellac will start to peel back in a few days. And for being in the salon less than 30 min I feel like I didn’t get a $ 42 experience.

I was looking for a new salon after seeing mine for over 10 years however, I needed something different. So I ran across this salon and I have been going to this salon over two years now, I see Eva. She always does a fabulous job with my hair. I have had her do highlights and few cuts. I have thin and fine hair and she knows what to do with it. The salon are always friendly and kind. The salon is a little on the pricey side but they’re all experts in hair so I find it to be worth it. You pay for your price; so if you are really looking for a change I would recommend this place. Just remember to bring cash for the tip because they don’t put it on your credit card like most salons do.

Great place, service and nice people. Cam is great with all kinds of hair! They are full service salon and do facials and mani/​pedi. Always accommodating. They take appointments and honor that time as well as allowing for walk ins!!! Convenient and friendly!

First off, I called to see if I could walk in for what I needed done. The receptionist got in 45 minutes after I called! Perfect!
Now, I’m a redhead that has super blond eyebrows and eyelashes. Before moving to Reston, I had gotten my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted at another place in San Diego. They were extremely dark! It did not look natural, but it worked for me — I guess — because it took forever to fade and «lasted». I usually always just tinted my eyebrows at home because it’s cheaper and looked decent. I tinted my eyebrows once a few years ago in Denver — meh. Then, I would sporadically get my eyebrows dyed when I would dye my hair. (I’m a serial hair-​dyer… Preferably, dark red.) I decided to try this place because I wanted my eyelashes tinted again.
Let me tell you, Candan Kaptan is amazing. She didn’t ask me what color I wanted (lol), she just told me what she was going to do based on my hair and skin color. (I’m a redhead, so it can be very hard to get a color right.) Let me tell you how shocked I was to see her perfectly tint my eyebrows and eyelashes! She said she always mixed her own colors and that my eyelashes are a black-​blue and my eyelashes have a bit of a yellow mixed in with a brown or some sort to get it a darker shade compared to my hair color. I am IMPRESSED! She really won me over! Also, her threading was quick and impeccable. She has skills.
So, if you ever need to get your eyebrows and eyelashes done to perfection, GO SEE HER!

I have been going to this studio for facials for a year. Malgosia who does the facials is the best at caring for your skin, suggesting the right products and providing an escape from life while you are under her hands! She is gentle, knowledgeable and she has improved my skin so much in the past year. Each time I recommend her to a friend or colleague they thank me by telling me that they have never had a facial as good as the she gives. Malgosia, you are the best!

I love nail studio and day spa because it is very well maintained, very hygenic and the ambience is quite relaxing. But I definitely feel it is over priced! I got a manicure done for the first time in the U. S…I dont know how it is at other places but here it was very rushed! While the manicurist was very good at what she did, my manicure lasted just for ten min while the french tips took ten mins to apply! For the price I paid, I was expecting a little more time spent on my nails! I don’t think I want to come here for a regular pedicure… it definitely wont be worth $ 44!

Terrible service, unclean and my manicure was sloppy and only lasted 4 days.
The staff was rude with me. They ignored me. They were completely empty in the middle of the day, but they were arguing over who should do my nails. I should of left right then, but I had a holiday dinner to attend the next day.
Finally I was seen, the work was rushed and messy. The technician was pleasant to talk to, but she was skipping standard steps that I’ve had at other salons. My gel manicure chipped off a few days later. The entire experience was a waste of time and money.

First time visiting and was impressed — quick, clean and really reasonably priced. Bring cash as there is an extra fee for using a credit card.

I love this place! Have been going to Lucy’s shop for 20 years. Fabulous technicians who really know what they are doing. My favorite is Tanya… beautiful, kind and professional. She also does brows and face threading, and you will come out looking beautiful!
I made the mistake of trying other salons for gel nails, and had terrible consequences. Came right back to this salon and I will never go anywhere else again!

Malgosia is the best aesthetician I have ever had. I’ve been seeing her for a few years now, and my mother-​in-​law has been with her for something like 18 years. I went to her with sensitive, blotchy skin with fine lines and clogged pores. My mother has rosacea and I looked to be headed in the same direction until I found Malgosia. Between microdermabrasions and the great skincare routine she suggested, I am happy to say that I often skip the foundation and powder now and still get compliments on my skin constantly! I previously worked in the spa industry and I’ve tried numerous aestheticians and never really seen results. I am so thankful for her. She is very knowledgeable and takes the time to educate her clients. Her pricing is also very fair for this area. An added bonus is the amazing shoulder massage during my mask. Lastly, the friendly staff is great and always accommodating.

First time visiting and I am a fan…
I stopped by as a walk-​in in the middle of the week for a pedicure.
The nail tech, Sahnaz, was amazing! Very friendly and knowledgeable! As a client, I felt I received lot of attention and was taken cared of (e.g. Offered magazines and beverages, different creams and exfoliants were used to massage my feet, pleasant conversation). The environment was decorated very tastefully and it gave off a relaxing and chic vibe.
Honestly, this was one of the best pedicures I’ve had in a long time and I am sort of a pedicure addict…
The price is reasonable for the area, however make sure to have cash handy for tip.
One more thing… they do waxing and threading (eyebrows).

I recently moved into this neighborhood and like the convenience and warm, personalized service this little spa provides. I love that the salon employs European techniques for blowdrying and styling and uses the amazing Kerastase products– only available in a a small number of select salons in the US.
My entire experience at NS&DS is relaxing and rejeuvinating. From the moment I walk in, the well-​coiffed Jack (a talented stylist in his own right who serves as receptionist, scheduler, and advisor) greets me warmly and promptly. My nail technician, Alena, is friendly and conscientious — a true perfectionist. She takes a little longer than the other techs I’ve used, but the result is a perfect ten on hands and feet and a luxurious experience. Who can complain that they were «too pampered» or that their hands and feet look «too beautiful»!? She always puts in the extra time to do things right even if she stays a bit longer to accomplish it! You can always tell when someone enjoys the job they do; this is totally the case with Alena.
My lovely stylist, Emily, is a true artist and makes you feel so pampered from the moment you sit in her chair. She is an active listener, a lively and thoughtful conversationalist, a perfectionist (trust me, ladies, this is who you want to do your hair!) and has an innate ability to sense exactly what her customers need and give it to them. We have developed a great balance of chemistry where there is never an awkward silence, but never a sense of chattiness. I love it that Emily asks about my long term strategy, noting any changes in my daily routine/​amount of time to devote to styling and lifestyle. She is able to provide great advice on how to achieve and maintain healthy hair in an aesthetically pleasing coiffure at the perfect shade and uses the products she recommends for your hair so that you can see exactly what a difference they make. I appreciate this «try before you buy» approach and am grateful for her attention to the smallest details. Did I mention that she is a wizard with a blow dryer? Even if it rains outside, her styles last for days… DAYS! in pristine condition.
Some reviews have complained about price for services and pedicures. I submit that you get what you pay for. This salon uses high quality, European products and techniques and doesn’t scrimp on the details that make your experience enjoyable. So for quality products, amazing artistic talent, competent personalized service, and the best blow dry in town, I highly recommend NS&DS in the Northpointe Plaza.
Forewarned is forearmed: BRING CASH to tip your service provider. NS&DS accepts credit cards for services but tips must be in cash.

Full disclosure: I used to work here. I have since opted for a job with more family-​friendly hours, but I still visit this salon because it’s awesome and totally worth it. If you would like to enjoy an upscale salon experience but want something trendier and more personal than a corporate chain with a red door, you should really pay these folks a visit. Here are my experiences as a both a receptionist and a client:
HAIR: All of the stylists here are really talented (Murat is practically a local celebrity), but Ewa is my girl! She’s been cutting my hair for about a year now and she always does a great job; however, she REALLY knocked it out of the park this time. I have fairly fine, limp hair so I like a choppy, razored bob that I can wear either straight or scrunched, smooth or spiky– and Ewa has figured out how to leave me with all of those options. It takes me about ten minutes to do a full blowout and the layers are bouncy and perfect. She also gave me a long side bang which I can tuck behind one ear or sweep over one eye if I’m feeling sassy. I feel very stylish and my hair looks much thicker. You could go someplace cheaper, it’s true, but you won’t get the kind of precision and skill this salon demands of its stylists. Fabulous.
Fauyaz and Emily are wonderful with children. Fauyaz is brilliant with long hair and updos, and Emily is the best stylist to see for coarse, curly or «ethnic» hair textures.
NAILS: I know it seems like a lot of money, but these girls work their tails off. They use only the best products and the emphasis is on pampering and relaxation rather than speedy client turnover. As I said above, you could save some money going somewhere else, but it won’t be the same atmosphere and the technicians probably won’t be getting a fair, livable wage to work on you. Also, you never know what kinds of corners a cheaper salon might be cutting. There are some nasty, cheaply formulated products out there and I can tell you, Lucy (the owner) does NOT allow them to be used in her shop. Personally, I’m willing to pay for the higher standard.
THREADING AND WAXING: I LOVE the way my brows look since I started having them threaded here. It’s not painless, but it’s definitely easier on your skin than waxing, which always makes me break out. For body hair removal, waxing is the way to go, and Malgosia will get it done as quickly and gently as possible. Since she is a skincare specialist, you can also rest assured that she will choose the best wax formula and technique for your skintype. Definitely worth it.
SKINCARE: Okay, I could go on and ON about Malgosia. She has incredibly gentle hands and a soft, soothing voice, and she is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. While I worked with her, she got my greasy, acne-​scarred face to the point where I felt confident with just a drop of tinted moisturizer and a dusting of powder. Again, you are paying for the services of a MASTER professional here. Give her chance and you will see results, I promise.

I love this salon. The story is that I just got a terrible haircut yesterday which looked like a bowl cut so I went here instead. Jack at the front desk took me in immediately and I sat down at the chair. Not one, not two, but four stylists looked at my hair and simultaneously agreed that it was terrible, which it really was. Even the guest sitting on the chair over grimaced. The only way to save it was to go shorter, and I’m so glad I trusted them to do that.
I came in at a loss of ideas of how to correct my hair but they knew right away, and my hair came out literally perfect, down to the last strand. Erkan, one of the owners, even showed me a picture to make sure I knew what I was getting; he even monitored the cut here and there to make sure it was going well. There were no strays poking out inappropriately and it looks so trendy and edgy.
The staff was nothing short of welcoming and looked out 100% for my best interests. They didn’t suggest anything unnecessary like a keratin treatment just for the big bucks like some other places (although I think I’ll return for one of those services!), but were completely professional, even in the midst of being busy tonight. I have to give credit to Murat and Fauyez for their wonderful work, and for once, I’m excited for my next haircut.

I had an appointment here a week ago for a shellac manicure. My manicurist (Virginia) was really sweet and did an excellent job. I’ve been getting compliments on my nails ever since! A week has passed since my appointment, and my nails are still looking perfect. I had never had a shellac manicure before and I don’t think I will go back to the normal kind — this is just so much better! My only complaint is that it’s a bit on the pricey side — $ 42 for the shellac. I don’t know if that’s standard or not, but I’m glad the manicure lasts a long time to make the money worth it.
My friend got a shellac manicure too and also got her eyebrows threaded. Both her nails and eyebrows look great! She said the threading does hurt, but it is so much better for your skin than the wax. It’s good to know they do threading here.
I’m sure I’ll be back!

I called as soon as it opened because I needed a serious SOS threading job on my eyebrows. Surprisingly there were openings as early as 10:30, but I opted for an 11:00 one. I showed up around 10:55 and was directed by some nice eye candy (who also was very personable) to the seating area behind reception desk. I had to wait a bit (but not too long after my scheduled appointment) because Chandan was finishing up doing a manicure. Like a previous review, she never asked what I wanted and I ended up with a thinner brow than preferred, but it was still much better than what I had walked in with. She was nice and quick and I was out before 11:15. I’ll probably return, but will try one of the other threaders. $ 15 spent plus tip.

I called early in the afternoon and was able to get appointment at my convenience which I ended up choosing an evening appointment. I arrived about ten minutes early and the staff already knew who I was when I walked in the door (I was a first time customer). I was immediately introduced to my waxer who’s name is Malgosia (I hope I am spelling that right because I can’t pronounce it to save my life!) and she took me back to the spa area. I will say I love the heated tables because it was extremely chilly tonight and the spa music was very relaxing which almost put me to sleep. Malgosia was very quiet but did ask questions about how I wanted my eyebrows and the color of my tint. I got an eyelash tint, eyebrow tint, and eyebrow wax which she did an excellent job at. I came home and I noticed a few strays but I am also a perfectionist when it comes to my eyebrows. I always find few regardless who does the job. I thought the prices for the waxing and tinting was very good for the area.
TIP: bring cash for tips

My review is based solely on eyebrow threading, the only service I’ve had here. I called in the morning and asked for an afternoon appointment — no problem at all and the male receptionist was very nice. When I showed up about two minutes before my scheduled time I was whisked straight back. So far, so good.
The woman who threaded me was named something that started with a C. She never introduced herself but I caught it when the receptionist wrote it on the tip envelope.
The service was quick but not extremely thorough. I found quite a few stray hairs to pluck when I got home — even though she used tweezers after the threading. And my threader never asked me anything about my eyebrows — what size or shape I wanted, if I was happy with them, nothing. In the end they were much thinner than I expected. If she had asked I would have told her I prefer a much more natural shape. She did point out that one is longer than the other. But didn’t have any suggestions for what to do about that! She made sure to tell me to come back in a month though.
This place is convenient to my home but I’ll probably try Dupont Threading after work sometime.
