Sheraton Reston Hotel

I give this Sheraton 2.5 stars. Yes, it’s convenient to the airport but the shuttle service doesn’t start until 6am, which meant I had to take a cab to the airport for my 7am flight. The wifi did not work at all. After trying three devices, I just used the hotspot on my phone.
The rooms themselves are nice and seem to have been updated recently. The bathrooms, however are dated. The tiles need to be regrouted and the showerheads replaced. Also, although I’m only 5 feet tall, the commode made me feel oddly tall.
There’s a few restaurants that will deliver but the room service prices are not ridiculous and the offerings well rounded.

Very accommodating staff at the front desk. Rooms are clean and neat, and ample parking out back. Didn’t give 5 stars because the parking out front is a bit disorganized.

Great hotel, beautiful. Except when booking I asked about late checkout since I would be checking in around 1am after closing a restaurant due to ice and snow early and did not want to drive back roads home. Checking in at 1 am was not an issue, however the room I was given had a tray of room service food left outside, and even with a do not disturb sign on the door the cleaning crew tried to enter the room twice. Once at 1030 and again at 1230. I found this bizarre, and put a bad taste in my mouth. I expected more for 160 a night!

Wanted a weekend getaway for the family and I. Looked for a hotel that was affordable but still modern and chic. Found the Sheraton Reston hotel and one word… BEAUTIFUL hotel!!! The room was super clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed right there in our room and on hotel ground. The entire hotel was chic and modern. We ate breakfast there and amazingly delicious. All the staff members from the customer service ladies who check you in and out, to the housekeeping and the waiters/​waitress were all very pleasant and showed fantastic customer service.
My family and I had an amazing, relaxing getaway weekend. Would definitely come back and recommend to others.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days while attending a conference at the hotel. They offer a shuttle to/​from Dulles airport and local attractions within a 2 mile radius. The hotel has 2 restaurants although only 1 was open during my stay. I would recommend leaving the hotel for dining as the 2 meals that I had there were not as yummy as I would have hoped. They do offer a small refrigerated section in the main lobby for sandwiches/​salads and coffee for purchase. The room itself was a good size. No fridge or microwave so keep that in mind if you bring home leftovers. They are doing their part to go green and will offer you a $ 5 food credit if you decline housekeeping per day.

Stayed here for a week during business travel and the hotel is convenient to the Reston Town Center which is where my office is, and it’s also convenient to IAD. However, the conditions of the hotel are not that great. It’s definitely dated and hasn’t been taken care of. The staff was very friendly but the hotel could use some love. The shower in the bathroom did not drain. I called the front desk and had them look at it — it helped, but still didn’t drain properly. Aside from that, typical cleanliness of a hotel like this — not perfect but ok.

Stayed there last night and was dismayed at the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the front desk staff.
Went to front desk early morning to inquire when to expect the shuttle to leave. The attendant talked to me in a very rude tone and then told me to have a seat. She was so quick and short with me. I actually needed to check out and inquire about something else. She tried to dismiss me fast. Very rude. And then shortly after I hear her gossiping about what she did the night prior to a coworker. Hmmmmm someone needs an attitude adjustment.
Bed was comfy but pillows were flat. Won’t be returning to this location

This «Hotel» is just ok, nothing spectacular just ok. There were Holes in the duvet cover, the carpet was ripped and the temp. Adjuster on the shower was broken, I’ve been to DC many times as my son goes to school out here and can honestly say this is by far the worst place I’ve stayed. Probably won’t be staying here again. Sorry Sheraton, you missed the mark this time.

I’ve stayed at this Sheraton a few times now as a consultant frequently traveling to Reston. The location, while not directly downtown, is still very close and convenient.
The front desk staff is always very helpful and cheerful. Every time we are there, they make me feel welcome and accommodating. The staff are the reason for any stars for this location.
The huge downside: the absolutely dismal internet speed. Any person trying to conduct a modicum of business via the Internet should have a solid data plan for their mobile device. The hotel wifi is legitimately worse than 56k dialup without the charm of a screeching modem. I can’t stress how much of a pain it is. It’s been a few months since we started using this location, and it’s getting impossibly worse every time! It IS free, though. So there’s that.

I’m a Starwood preferred guest member. Bought my room on Priceline. Asked receptionist Amine for a quiet room and he upgraded me to Room 465, which was a beautiful, quiet room. Amine was very helpful, friendly and professional. The bed and pillow were very comfortable, no noise from neighbors and I had internet in the room. Tom was the driver and he was very accommodating to all of his passengers, which was very refreshing to see… the best
Shopping and restaurants are 1 mile away, but if you know this you can better prepare.
This hotel was great and I’d stay here again.

A disgrace to the SPG line. No wifi at all. What they have the impunity of calling wifi is slower and shittier than ice age dial up modem wifi.
To give you an idea — for every 30 sec of streaming I get 5 sec of buffer. Hulu’s front page — no videos, just the pictures, takes 10 secs to load, sometimes crapping out and claiming that theres an error with the page. I emailed something to myself (2MB) and it’s still sending two days later!
I brought up this issue with the front desk and all they had to say was ‘We are aware of the issue.’ In other words, we know it’s shitty and we don’t give a crap. This is unacceptable. I’ve been to Red Roof Inns with better wifi.
The bathroom/​showers are ghetto. NOT something worth the price. I paid the same price for a suite/​room with a divider in Atlanta which is not in the middle of nowhere unlike Reston.
I’m a consultant so I’m scheduled to stay around this area for at least the next three months. Yet they treat the customers like shit and simply rebuke my complaint about the wifi with ‘We are aware.’ You can kiss my business goodbye then, and the business of all of the consultants in my team. I guess the $ 1K a week times 4 people for at least 3 months is not worth getting your wifi upgraded. Have fun while I throw all this money to your competitors.
DO NOT COME HERE. I’M NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN.

The rooms were okay. The hotel was stunning in the lobby, but rooms were just mediocre.
The one thing that my husband and I can’t complain about and often utilize is their airport parking. It is normally the cheapest, has plenty of room as it is in a garage. They also have a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes.
Side note: thought it was strange that I reserved a room with 1 King bed, but concierge said I asked for a room with 2 doubles. So here we (my s/​o and I) are looking like we sleep in separate beds. Lol
Oh and the Internet didn’t work in our room. :/

The rooms are a decent size but not quite up to date. I struggle to call this a 3 star hotel but it’s definitely not 2 star.
When I stayed there, They had a promotion where they awarded you $ 5 voucher towards food or 500 SPg points for every night that you don’t get your linen changed. I was able to use my voucher in their convenient store to purchase items that I forgot to pack. (Or candy)
What concerns me most is how unorganized the cleaning staff is. Upon checkout, I left a dress in the closet in my room. I realized once I returned home and called the hotel to inquire about them putting it aside. It took two days for the head of the housing staff to call me back and when I gave her my room number and dress description she stated they did not have it in their possession.
I am not tripping over the dress but I would have liked to have my phone call returned in a timely manner. Maybe the dress would have been found on the day of versus 48 hours later.
There is definitely room for improvement on customer service.

I’m a Platinum member with Starwood and I have stayed here for weeks. The front desk employees are some of the best I’ve ever encountered. Teresa is awesome. If you’re reading this, «Hi Teresa!»
Since Sheraton and Westin are adjacent, they share their shuttle buses. Why should you care? This means the buses run on-​time, they run frequently, and they get you to your destination faster by grouping the destinations run on their 2 – 3 buses.
Though the Westin is a higher end hotel in the Starwood chain, I prefer the Sheraton for their layout, friendly front desk, and recent renovation.
The biggest con is the parking. If you get here after say 7−9pm, you might have to look for parking in the back lots.

I’d prefer to say 3.5 stars. This is a big hotel near a major airport. Pretty common for its class.
I stayed 4 nights in August, 2014, for a class. I shared the room with a classmate from Florida.
The group who sponsored our meeting posted a $ 159 corporate rate. When I checked the Sheraton website, I found a $ 114 rate. Guess which one I took. It shows how even the bare minimum of research can save you big $$.
When we checked in, there was no refrigerator in the room; this, despite the reservation saying it was included. My roommate went to the front desk to complain, and a small refrigerator was delivered within 2 hours. We were advised to watch our bill to make sure we didn’t get charged for it, but we were not. We certainly did not get free bottled water!
The bed was very comfortable. I sunk into in on Wednesday night with a great sigh of relief. However, I slept poorly every night. I probably can’t blame it on the hotel, and I wore earplugs, in case my roommate snored (she did), so that wasn’t an issue. The problem could be more with me than with the hotel.
We got a card on the door handle offering us the opportunity to «go green.» That meant we’d get a big $ 5.00 discount on our room, if we skipped the maid service. That meant making our own beds, reusing our towels, etc. Well, we were both bodyworkers and healers, so we decided to go for it. It’s more of a bonus for the hotel, since they have to pay the housekeeping staff to work. Anyway, the real downside to this is, your garbage does not get picked up either. On the last night, we said, to heck with this «green» stuff, we need the garbage picked up. We got the beds made, too; goodbye, $ 5.00 discount.
We were not charged for Wi-​Fi. Judging by what other Unilocalers say, this is a new policy. Connectivity is slow; I thought it was just my 3-​year-​old computer, but my roommate had a new Mac, and it took us 10 minutes to connect. I finally just left my p.c. on sleep mode all the time. That was in the room. When I tried to connect in the lobby, it didn’t work. I was impatient and said, the heck with this, and did not ask for help. So that could have been better.
The bathroom isn’t huge, but who cares? How many people are going to be in there with you anyway? Hot water in the shower came on fast and strong.
I did not have a car during my stay, so cannot comment on parking or parking costs.
The hotel restaurant is your typical pricey hotel by the airport restaurant. I heard it’s possible to get the breakfast buffet included on your room price. That didn’t happen to us. My roommate joked that «every meal costs $ 17.49.» It is a nice buffet, and coffee and orange juice are included. Considering that I really don’t eat that much, I consider $ 17.49 to be an expensive breakfast.
By the front desk, there is free coffee and hot tea for guests. There is also a refrigerated case for snacks, a few sandwiches, and fruit. I definitely appreciated the coffee, even though it was Starbucks (too strong for me). I did not buy any of the foods, because I found a 7 – 11 nearby, but the convenience is a good idea.
The hotel shuttle to the airport worked fine. I wish the driver had said two words. I am unfamiliar with Dulles, and wasn’t sure where we were, or if I was first to get off, or what. He got us there quickly, but I didn’t know «where» was! Very confusing.
The nice thing about the shuttle is that it will take you to other nearby destinations for free (excluding tip, of course). I heard other people took it to Whole Foods and the Reston Town Center. That’s nice.
Meeting rooms were your standard meeting rooms.
There is a pool. You can only access the pool area by using your room key. The area is not open till 10am, when the pool opens, and a lifeguard is present. I would have liked to sit outside earlier in the day, but I suppose it is closed for legal reasons. If someone got hurt in the pool, the hotel would get sued.
There are no sidewalks in the area, but you can walk along the road or over some corporate front lawns to a Chili’s, a 7 – 11, and an Indian kebab/​take-​out place, if you don’t want to pay $ 17.49 for a meal.
I would be okay staying here again. It’s nothing remarkable, but it is serviceable.

it’s a little shabby considering how much I paid. I got a monday to thurs stay with the prepaid rate which was still pricey.$ 155. Reston is an edge city so the hotel rates double during the week… weekend rates are half that.
the hotel tries to be posh but is very rough around the edges. corners are worn/​rundown and the sheraton insignia on top at the hotel is marred by the same carelessness. Man, the westin is right next door and much better kept up. I wish I would have paid a little bit more and stayed there. Sometimes it is the same price! Next time I will stay there.
My bathroom at home is nicer than the bathrooms here… sad considering the first thing I like to do when staying at a nice hotel is take a bubble bath and I had no desire to do that here. Also, something at the hotel (my husband said it was a pump) made this very odd grunting noise during the day and part of the night… it was distracting and funny. The room was nice and the bed soft and had a ok view and lots of light BUT they could have done so much more with that like make the balcony nice and enjoyable… instead they sealed it off and left it in disrepair with peeling paint. There was an actual hole between the concrete wall dividers on the «balcony» and when a leaf would blow by I swear to God I thought it was a mouse on more than one occasion. I rarely take pictures but I did of this place because I couldn’t believe it.
the internet was decent. I did the green choice which was a 5 dollar voucher in lieu of housekeeping… but it didn’t buy that much at the snack bar. I mostly ate at Reston Town center and parked at the back of the hotel. There’s a popeyes and Reston Kabob hidden in the back too as well as a chili’s. the former was very good and affordable. I left my chicken box discards in the hallway for housekeeping to pick up since I did the green choice. I didn’t feel too bad. I saw lots of people do the same with their room service trays.
Hubby said the pool was basic but did the trick. Overall we had a nice stay… it did the trick for a relaxing short vacay but there were some glaring abnormalities considering the price.

Older hotel in the residential area …
While I wouldn’t pay weekday rate for this place, their weekend rate is great if price is important to you. It’s an older property that supposedly been renovated recently. As with most older hotel built before ADA specs, the bathroom is ridiculously small. Small outdoor pool is nice and not found in newer business hotels (most are indoors now and smaller). The walls seem to be thin and room is smallish, the bed was comfortable.
Breakfast buffet is decent but pricey, therefore, try to get it as a included package.

I’m just recently moved out of my condo in Reston and needed to stay somewhere for the night before moving into my new place.
The hotel looked pretty nice so I decided to give it a try. It was the most uncomfortable night of sleep that I have ever had! Actually I didn’t sleep at all! The comforter and especially the pillows were made of overly used cheap down feathers which didn’t breathe and actually made my face sweat! The walls were pretty thin too… I could hear EVERYTHING in the next room! Everything!
The room however was nice though. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was very nice.

I typically never give neg reviews… but here it goes. Nice bed… terrible service. TV channels such espn are scrambled. The hotel is a somewhat of a maze. Two sides of the hotel don’t connect… reception told me to go the west wing which doesn’t connect the my room. This place blows. The Sheraton at Herndon Dulles was a nice room… but terrible service too. The lights were missing bulbs.

I don’t like to downgrade hotels based on the existence of problems. It’s more important as a frequent Starwood customer in how those issues are addressed. My last stay at this hotel −10÷2012 — I discovered that my room was infested with ladybugs. When I reported that problem to the front desk, the response I got was «sorry, what would you like me to do about it?» No offer to clean, no offer to change rooms, no offered options whatsoever. As I had only 1 night left and ladybugs don’t particularly bother me, I left the front desk with a puzzled look on my face, stayed my final night with my new roommates and left.
That said, with the wealth of Starwood properties within a stone’s throw of this property — not to mention the other brands that have rooms in the Dulles area, I’ll never stay at this hotel again and recommend to all others to do the same.
