The Westin Reston Heights

Would give negative stars if I could. Severe Food Contamination!
I was severely food poisoned after ordering room service one evening. Ordered a burger which arrived extremely undercooked and within 3 hours of eating it, I almost ended up in the emergency room. Managers didn’t take any responsibility or cared for my welfare– blamed me. Contacted corporate only for them to send the complaint back to my hotel in a circle. The manager actually had the audacity to defend the kitchen, instead of investigating. The entire staff has a «holier than thou» attitude and only care about themselves. I’ve stayed at other Westins and NEVER been treated with such disrespect. They should be embarrassed for how they treat their guests. No class whatsoever. I mean, at least make sure your kitchen staff knows how to properly cook a burger. At the very LEAST– this could have been a lawsuit. I had not eaten one thing all day, until I arrived at that horrible hotel. Horrible customer service and I will never stay here again. And if you must stay here, do NOT order room service, or else you’re risking it.

I was in this hotel all of 10 hours, and 6 of them were sleeping, so I didn’t get a complete experience. That said, it’s a great hotel. Nice and quiet. Good location; Quick check-​in. Up-​to-​date furnishings. I had a super large room with a «livingroom,» so almost like a suite. Comfy bed. Plenty of mirrors to inspect yourself after getting dressed.
My main complaint is the monochromatic, soporific design palette – great for relaxing if that’s what you want, but not otherwise. Kinda too dim inside the room and elsewhere. People like rainfall shower heads, but I don’t. They’re really awkward to use if you’re not washing your hair. Also, I think I lucked out on parking and got a really good spot not too far from the door, but I didn’t see much parking to be had if the hotel were full.
Elevators require you to use your room key at all hours, apparently not just at late hours. That can be inconvenient if you’re carrying lots of stuff.

Continuous wifi disconnects and issues for my entire stay. Hotel is fine but don’t expect connectivity.

We waited at Dulles Airport for the Westin shuttle from 2:45 AM to 3:45 AM, despite various calls to the front desk notifying the employee that we had arrived and needed to be picked up on the shuttle. Once the shuttle arrived, the employee argued with us about why he hadn’t been making rounds every 30 minutes (as we were told on the phone). We were left waiting outside for more than an hour. On arrival to the hotel, the front desk employee also made excuses about why we were not picked up until 3:45 AM and repeatedly told us that the shuttle driver had been making regularly scheduled rounds, regardless of our insistence that we did not see him between 2:45 AM and 3:45 AM. I was disappointed at the unprofessionalism of the staff as well as their desire to argue with their customers instead of offering to rectify the error. We will not be staying at a Westin ever again.

Pros:
Room was fine. Clean sheets. Close to airport.
Cons:
Bad staff.
No one offered to help with our many bags upon arrival.
The server at the bar was very, very slow.
Johnnie the airport shuttle driver is a real piece of work who should be replaced immediately. We were a family traveling with a small child and he completely ignored us. The only other people on the shuttle were two women who he helped — he carried their luggage into the van and asked them about their gate (never asked us). I piped in with our airline information but he had already driven past it. Instead of backing up or swinging around to get closer to our drop off he just told us to walk. So we had to lug our stuff back to our airport entrance in the freezing rain.
We’ll go with a different Dulles hotel next time.

than I did calling the hotel directly — same day booking. 2 queen beds — not easy to find — these comfortable beds were fantastic as expected. Courtesy and efficient reception last night. Self parked in the underground parking. We ordered room service late and received hot and delicious sandwiches and a cold fresh fruit plate within 15 minutes. The room felt clean and was very comfortable.

Rude staff, rude guests, uncomfortable bed, and the cleaning service never comes. Free wifi didn’t work. Will never stay at another Westin period.

Stay away from this hotel if you don’t have a car. There is nothing around the hotel, and they don’t provide regular shuttle service as they claim. I was told by the front desk and the driver that they pick up every 30 minuted at the metro station. I was at the metro station at 1:20pm today, and I even called the hotel to confirm the shuttle service. I was promised that a shuttle will pick me up at 1:45 pm. I waited for 30 min and still no shuttle. So I called again at 1:50pm, 2:00pm, 2:10 pm and 2:12pm. Every time I was told the shuttle was coming. During the last call, the front desk was so sure that the shuttle will arrive in 2 minutes. Well it didn’t show up until 2:20pm. I waited 60 minutes even after calling Westin 5 times. I think what happened was that the hotel was so remontely located and empty, the shuttle driver just doesn’t go out unless there’s a request. But the front desk doesn’t know that the shuttle is by request only.
If you have a whole day to kill, this is not a bad hotel. There are plenty of things you just nees to wait a lot longer for it.
If you just want to relax and have everything taken care of, do not stay here. It is totally not worth it.
I take Über for the rest of my stay to get in and out of DC area. It does not make sense to stay here ever again.

We booked this hotel property for a 9-​day trip when the hubby was doing some training nearby. I made online reservations and since we are a traveling group of 6, I booked the junior suite which would accommodate all of us. After arriving at the hotel and checking in (gorgeous lobby by the way), we reached our room only to be totally dismayed that it was one SINGLE room! There was no way this was going to work.
It was late, we had just landed in DC and driven to Reston, VA, by way of rental car. Obviously we were tired and now disappointed. While my hubby went back down to the lobby to find out what was going on with our room, the rest of us stayed upstairs. He quickly came back up with a second set of key cards. They apologized for the mixup (they claimed they had no suites) but gave us the adjoining room next door to make up for it! Fantastic!
So for 9 days at the Westin, we enjoyed 4 full sized beds, two showers, two sinks, two televisions and must importantly TWO bathrooms!
I read the in-​room brochure and quickly realized I could get extra things brought up to our room for no extra charge. I inquired about a mini fridge and a step stool. Both were brought up immediately! This was a great bonus as we could purchase snacks and drinks and keep them cool. And seriously, do you know how convenient it is to have a step stool in your hotel bathroom? Those traveling with small children will relate to me on this one.
The following day after some sightseeing and tons of walking and only having brought one stroller and realizing we should have brought two… I see in the hotel brochure that they have a complimentary stroller! Awesome again. I call the desk, and they say they will have it ready for me when we go down to the lobby. I’m expecting some typical stroller (complete with crumbs and stains) but instead I’m pleasantly surprised when they wheel out a brand new jogging stroller! Whoop! This came in super handy when visiting Mount Vernon with it’s steep hills and pathways. We definitely broke in that stroller for them.
There is also an indoor pool on one of the top floors. Kids loved this!
My husband has since traveled back to this area for additional training and stayed at this same property. The staff was super accommodating and top notch!

Room was nice and comfortable. The food options were limited and subpar. My breakfast potatoes came out barely cooked. Über had a hard time finding this place as well as they mark it off 267, not off sunset hills.

Great hotel right off of the Dulles Toll Road. Shopping centers are within a short drive as are some decent restaurants and diners.
Was upgraded to a junior suite as part of the Starwood Gold which included a balcony that overlooks the toll road. Not a great view and it was about 40 degrees, but still a nice option. Rooms were well maintained and very clean. Housekeeping was quick and thorough each day and took care of any request I had.
I checked in a day after a light snowstorm and the roads and sidewalks leading in and out of the hotel were clear and salted, however, the parking garage is actually adjacent to the hotel so it’s a very minor inconvenience when you’ve got bags and stuff to take in or out of the hotel, especially in the cold or inclement weather.
Overall a good stay and I would book the Westin Reston again.

Quiet, off the beaten track and just outside dc. Typically more affordable rates than Tysons corner or the westin georgetown. Both excellent options as well. Whole foods is a 10 minute drive as is a platinum lifetime fitness center (lifetime Athletic). Shopping in reston town center is just across the highway. Plenty of great restaurant nearby as well. The hotel lobby smells amazing and the rooms have been very well maintained and cleaned. I have really grown to enjoy staying here over the many near by hotels. If you go to dc get a toll pass by the bus center in reston town center. It is 35.00 and we’ll worth it to avoid the stress of the tolls and exact change.

I stayed in the junior suite for Memorial Day weekend and I absolutely loved it. The Reston Westin is surrounded by other hotels like the Sheraton. There is a lively city life about ten minutes away with a great selection of restaurants/​bars. The suite itself was beautiful and the service was excellent. There is a gym/​pool/​jacuzzi on the last floor which made my stay even much more enjoyable.

Nice service. The rooms are a little small, but it is nice overall. I think this hotel is relaxing and, when comparing this one to other Westins, the interior design is very pretty. The indoor pool and other activity rooms are relaxing, spacious, and high quality. I didn’t stay for long, but I enjoyed my stay

Overall a nice hotel, it’s on the newer side and seems relatively clean. Rooms were the usual Westin quality. There’s no concierge lounge but the restaurant is pretty cool– they have some very reasonably priced small plates (speak $ 1 or $ 2), while it’s only a few bites at those prices you can afford several of them! Overall, a pleasant stay

Nice hotel. I typically always stay at the Hyatt when coming to Reston in business. As the Hyatt is located right in the town center. This hotel has free parking and is further out. It is well located to Dulles airport.
The staff were friendly and the room was nice. It was decently sized with nice massaging shower and soft sheets/​comfortable bed.
Note if you stay for multiple nights and ask them not to clean your room, you get a $ 5 coupon for each day. This can be used for food or drink in the hotel.

This Westin is definitely above average — it’s in a hybrid commercial/​residential park — clean and friendly staff. As a Starwood Platinum guest, I was automatically upgraded without asking for it — it still amazes me that there are certain Starwood Hotels that make you ask for the upgrade that should be automatic. The junior suite I was given was quite nice — super clean. The bathroom had both a stall shower and a tub/​shower — a bit strange but nice nonetheless.
Only negative for me is the parking situation. There are only a handful of outside parking spots. Otherwise, you will be parking in an unmanned, unsecured, parking garage below the hotel — after dark, I would not be happy having to navigate the garage and elevator below. The $ 10 valet seems a bit expensive for a suburban hotel.

Stayed here for a quick work trip. Loved that they have an in-​town shuttle that will take you to nearby offices. Also it was really nice being able to take the hotel shuttle back to IAD for my 6 am flight.
Clean rooms, could use a bit of an upgrade, but very nice and what you expect from a Westin.

My husband attends class at the Sheraton every two months and my preference has been staying here rather at the Sheraton. The hotel itself is much more contemporary and nicer. Plus, they even have a nice indoor pool up on the top floor.
When I was pregnant, I stayed here for the babymoon package while on a weekend he was in class. The package was great and we had the junior suite that included breakfast for two, $ 15 credit for snacks at their gift shop, and a in-​room movie per day. The junior suite is comfortable and spacious. This was a great package and I absolutely loved the experience that I ended up recently going reserving the babymoon package (even though I was done being pregnant). My baby went this time so we wanted a bigger room. The package included a deluxe suite which had a separate bedroom and living room. It was spacious and gave us opportunities to watch movies and hang out in the living room without disturbing the baby sleeping in the bedroom. Another great thing is their heavenly dual shower heads. Love those things!
The breakfast at Vinifera restaurant is good. Movie selection in the rooms are excellent and my husband (the constant snacker) loves their snack credit that is included in the package. The one issue I have was during the check out. They had charged me for one day of the snack credit and my confirmation email said the package included the $ 15 snack credit per day. The girl at the desk said it only included one day. It didn’t make since the package was by per day. So if you got that package for five days, how does it make any sense to get one day of the snack credit if you offer the package on a daily basis? The girl even asked her manager and he told me no too. Luckily, she took the charge off but I think they need to know the packages better that they offering to their customers better. Besides some issues with this (that happened twice already), it is a good hotel to stay.

Typical, chic and contemporary interiors most Westin’s are known for. As with most of my experiences with the Westin brand hotels the service is always «bend over backwards» type approach and they were no exception here. Quick to register and quick to exit, which is how it should be.
My girlfriend and I had enough time to try out the workout facilities and they were superb. State of the art treadmills really do the trick for me! And we also enjoyed the whirlpool/​jacuzzi provided for right outside the workout facility. Great comfortable lounge chairs were provided even in the whirlpool area. I could have stayed there all night!
Heavenly beds and the heavenly baths are exactly as stated… heavenly.
