Absolute Autowerks

I have been going to see Ashley at Absolute since 1989 and in my opinion, his auto repair shop is the best in the area. I took my 1986 CRX to him when the dealer said repairs would be over $ 1000. He fixed my issue for $ 120. When a transmission shop and Mazda dealer told me my transmission was shot on my 1987 626 GT, I took the car to Ashley… the actual culprit was a spark plug cable that was arcing against the head. $ 300 plus he performed a minor tuneup.
Since then I have taken our Hondas, Expedition, Wagoneer, Mountaineer, Freestyle, Q45, Enclave and my 335i to him and always received great service.
My family and many of my friends use his services and will continue to. My brother who lives in Arlington and relies on his car for business even makes the 40 mile drive for mid to major issues!
If you are looking for a sparkling clean service center that sees you as a number and upselling opportunity, look elsewhere.
If you want your car fixed right, these guys are for you!

My wife and I have been taking our cars to Ashley at Absolute Autowerks for over 10 years now. I wouldn’t call them cheap and they’ve always fixed our cars right. No telling, though, how much money their advice and guidance has saved us. I am sorry for Timothy M’s experience. It doesn’t sound like them at all and it is not anything like our experience has been.

My son, away at college in Dallas, had a problem with his 2000 BMW 528 not starting in the morning even after being charged the day before. The car also had an oil and power steering fluid leak which I wanted to get repaired as well.
I had the car towed in to Absolute Autowerks. Regarding the oil leak, I told Ashley that since there was oil on the upper part of the driver’s side of the engine, the leak was probably not at the oil pan but perhaps from where the oil filter.
After reporting for a few days that they were trying to track down an electrical short that was draining the battery, Ashley finally said it was just a bad battery. He told me the car needed to be aligned and that the belts, radiator hose, and tires also needed to be replaced but that he could get the tires at a good price. Since, I wanted to make sure my son’s car would be reliable while he was away at college, I told him to go ahead with everything. The charge was $ 2,780.52
My son picked the car up from the shop and drove home for the holidays. On arriving from the 200 mile trip, he had lost three quarts of oil. A longer trip would have resulted in a burned up engine. The power steering fluid was still leaking. I took the car to a local shop where they repaired the oil leak, the power steering leak, and a few other things. The oil was coming from a bad oil filter stand gasket. The power steering fluid was coming from a bad steering rack.
With the car no longer leaking lubricants, my son returned to Dallas. In a few days, the car overheated and he had to add coolant. I had a technician look at the car. He said coolant was leaking from the radiator drain because the plug had not been tightened down. Also, the temperature sensor had fallen out and was dangling from the wire that connects it.
Looking back at the original invoice, I saw that I had been charged much more for the tires and battery than I could have purchased them for locally and that many of the parts were charged at more than the dealer prices, some a lot more. I was charged for an oil change at $ 135.23. Considering the cost, time to repair, and quality of work, I cannot recommend this shop.

My family (parents, sister, and brothers) have all be using Absolute Autowerks since the early 90s when it was Bray’s Automotive. The owner, Ashley Thibeaux is a very competent and honest mechanic. I’ve yet to see anyone who can troubleshoot as well as he can. Even problems that have defied other mechanic’s abilities, he can figure it out. I had what every indication pointed to a fuel related issue and Ashley was able to figure out it was a very small bare spot on the wiring to an O2 sensor that was grounding and causing the problem. Two other mechanics had run full diagnostic tests on my car and couldn’t find the problem.
I live in north Arlington and find that it is worth the nearly 40 miles one way to bring my car to Absolute Autowerks to get it fixed right the first time.
