I’m seriously surprised that this restaurant is even still in business. We decided to give it a try b/c we like Mediterranean and it’s close to the house. We arrived about 7pm on a Friday night and we were the only people in the place. That should have been warning sign #1. There was only 1 person working in the whole place. Warning sign #2. We both ordered gyro platters. The gyro meat was very dry and there wasnt much. The platter included fries, which were mushy and cold. Neither one of us finished our meal. The restaurant was very dirty as well and didn’t smell good either. It was our fault for not walking out immediately, but we’ll sure never be back.

I went for my usually Wendy’s and I was hit with a desire to try something different. I pulled in here. I had the lunch special(gyro and fries). I subbed a salad for the fries. I was extremely pleased with both the salad and gyro. I will go again.

The food and prices are good, but the place could be great with a cleaner and updated look, better service, and decent menus. The owner is very friendly but he really needs help. I feel like he’s more concerned with catering than walk-in customers.

Pretty decent restaurant. Nothing amazingly unique or spectacular. Family owned with good filling food at a great price. Wish they would invest a little to remodel the interior.

Not bad but when I request all lamb for my gyro I should get all lamb, not big on the mix of beef n lamb. Omg they use a microwave… yea just turned me off when she could have turned the stove on that I can see. I call that lazy…

Great Shabbat dinner with friends. It’s been awhile since I wrote a full review of this place and in my opinion it is still great food. Since my last review I have relocated to the DFW area and in fact live in Ft. Worth now. I have visited Yum Yum several times over the past three years and have always had great meals here. I love the lamb dishes. If you are looking for the salty pre-processed gyros found in most Greek food establishments don’t eat here because the gyros is fresh and well seasoned not overly salted. Which apparently is a disappointment to many who eat fast food gyros. My dinning companions this evening included a trained chef who formerly managed food services for El Al Airlines and KNOWS middle eastern food well, and is currently a USDA food Inspector. He had nothing but raves about the food! The salad was fresh, the meats well seasoned and the pita bread was delicious as always, not some limp doughy American style pita that splits in the center to make little«pocket» sandwiches. This is authentic Greek/Lebanese food! The owner, Mike comes from a Greek/Lebanese background and does all the cooking. He is adding one of my favorites to the menu in the next few months Shwarma; Mmmm can’t wait! In fact he brought the new menu out for me to read and there are a number of new items being added to the menu. I was concerned that we were the only ones in the restaurant but Mike promised me he wasn’t going out of business anytime soon. He has a number of catering jobs he does along with a steady clientele and busy times during the week, but still Friday evening at 6 pm was rather empty which gave us more time to visit with Mike. This evening he had just catered an event and cooked an entire lamb and brought samples to our table. YUM, YUM! Mike is very friendly and his favorite word is Welcome, Welcome which you will hear over and over. He does seem to have a bit of trouble finding help that is good. The girl who waited on us seemed a little shy and confused at times, we just asked Mike for what we needed, if he was busy he told her what to do, and if not he would just bring it to us himself. We had the Mixed Grill for two, which came with two salads, large thick pieces of gyros, chicken slovaki, dolmas, on a bed of rice with grilled red onions and green bell peppers. It also came with Baba Ghanouj a roasted eggplant purée mixed with seasonings and olive oil,(one of my favorites) and Hummus with a basket of pita bread. We also got an extra salad, side of gyro, & pita to extend our grill for two into a feast for three. The difference between an Italian Salad and a Greek Salad is what’s in it. Greek salad” is made from lettuce, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, celery, cucumber, green pepper, crumbled feta cheese and sometimes dill springs. It is the green pepper, olives and feta cheese that make it distinctly Greek rather than the dressing which is basically the same, except sometimes the Greeks dress their salads with lemon, which I’m not crazy about. Everything was of course delicious, we filled ourselves with our dinner, the complimentary tea and had complimentary tea biscuits for dessert because none of us could eat more dessert. The fresh Lemon aide is really freshly squeezed in fact half of the lemon comes in the glass. It’s delicious but I did have to add some stevia which I carry in my purse and ask for more ice. After promises to come back with a group one night soon we hugged Mike goodbye and headed off to Shabbat services as the sun was setting. I love this place!

Was craving for some gyros during lunch since my friends were talking about Mediterranean food the night before. Haven’t had my fix of gyros in a while and was pretty hungover from a little too much drinking. Went on Unilocal to search for the nearest one and Yum Yum came up. I have tried this place a long time before when I use to work down the street but I forgot how the gyros tasted since it’s 6 years or more since I’ve been back here. It’s a mom and pop restaurant so that’s a big plus for me. I love supporting my local mom and pop. Dallas has too many franchise restaurant. Any who, went in and the place was empty during lunch. I don’t know if it’s in a discreet location or people just don’t go during that time. Ask the server for a to-go menu since I was just gonna grab it and go back to work. it was a little bit pricey for a gyros though. $ 6+ for a single gyros without any fries or drink. Back when I lived in Wichita Falls, TX, I could grab a a whole gyros meal with fries and drank for a $ 6. Waited around 7 minute for my food to be done and while I was waiting the lady came out with a piece of meat on a fork and told me to try it, a complement of the manager. Kind of surprise me cuz I never been to any restaurant where they put a piece of meat on a fork and tell you to eat it while your waiting. some people might think it’s weird but I think that’s really nice! Got my gyros and the size of it is a little bigger than the chalupa at Taco bell. Spicy season lamb meat, «lettuce»(more like salad), 2 dice piece of tomato, and the white sauce. Not bad looking I thought to myself and as soon I bit into the gyros, my hangover seem to disappear. I saw Unicorn and angels flying around me. Well not really. but it was like heaven biting into it. it was awesome. He really spice up the meat, it had a spicy tang to it. It made me miss the gyros stands in NYC. ah those weird guy serving up some mean quick gyros. If the price wasn’t so pricey, I would go back more and give it a full 5 star. but I had to minus a star for the price.

Overall, I was not impressed with this place. I had the Greek Gyro Pizza. It was very bland and didn’t taste ‘greek’ at all. I tasted my husband’s gyro too and it didn’t taste that great. I’ve had much better. Service was slow. Their prices on their website are nearly 2 dollars less than what they are now, so I spent a lot more than I planned to. Don’t think I’ll be coming back.

I was hopeful for finding a good Greek place at a good price, but alas, not today. The food was okay, but the service was slow, not super-friendly, and over-priced. It took almost 20 minutes to get our food and there were only 6 people in the restaurant. The menu is posted on the website, but the prices aren’t the same; the gyro is $ 2 more. When we asked the waitress about the discrepency, she laughed, «Those are old prices!». And to add to the disappointment, I ordered a Dr. Pepper($ 1.55) and was given a 12 oz. can and a cup of ice; no refills. All the positive reviews were posted over three years ago. I can only assume this place was good once; don’t know what’s happened since then. I give two stars because the gyro was decent but the seasoning on the fries was dumped on, not sprinkled. Management needs to take a hard look at their place. I won’t be recommending it to anyone I know.

The service was excellent but the food was mediocre at best. I’d give them two stars just for service, but the food was so bad, I just can’t do it. We went on a slow night(the only group of people there). The pitas were store-bought but were probably the best thing — they had been brushed with butter, sprinkled with salt and spices and laid on the grill. Meats(gyro, chicken souvlaki) were overcooked, dry and too salty. Hummus was fair, but I’ve made better at home. «Greek salad» was salad greens out of a bag with a few slices of pale tomatoes, slivers of bell pepper and Italian vinaigrette out of a bottle. I think the Greek part was the scant sprinkle of feta cheese and the lone olive on the plate. I hate to give a family-run establishment such a mediocre review but the food just wasn’t all that. We also saw a baby roach scamper across the floor towards the end of the meal. «Greek» restaurant is a bit of a misnomer as well, as we overhead the owner speaking Arabic. The food has a bit of a Lebanese slant with hot sauce served with the entrees. Disappointing, overall. I didn’t understand the high marks from Unilocal, since they were a major reason we went out of our way to go there. Don’t waste your time, unless you just happen to be in the neighborhood — and even then, there are plenty of other options around!

My boyfriend and I ate here for lunch today the place was empty and had a funky smell to it. It seemed like there was only one person that worked there who was the cashier, cook and waitress. The food wAs decent. We had the gyro plate which came with meat, rice, pita bread, and a Greek salad for 9 bucks. Go here if you want cheap Greek food and you are in the area, but don’t go out of your way for it!

We value the food, the atmosphere, and everything that goes along with this place. The atmosphere is 90% coming from the person giving that friendly welcome, and 10% being able to enjoy the company of the person(s) you’re with without hassle or noise of the average restaurant. My husband especially enjoys being ‘surprised’ by the different ways in which the falafel sandwich has been prepared. Another unusual treat is the Turkish coffee. If you’re not already familiar with the cuisine, know that it is extremely vegetarian– and even vegan-friendly.

On my first visit, I was afraid to give it a try since the place was so empty during lunch time. To my surprise, the food was excellent! After the meal, the waitress will bring a small cup of sweet tea-like drink. I’m not sure what it is, but it sure is tasty! I’m not sure why it is so empty, though. Maybe someone will read this and give Yum Yum a try, too!

Yum Yum is not only the name of the restaurant but also the noise you make when you are rubbing your hands over your tummy. I have to say the food here is amazing and the service is phenomenal. Where else can you go and get served on by the owners own children who treat you like family. This I have to say is true Greek culture and food here in the US. The food has both a Greek and Middle East spin to it. The food for all those Muslims out there is Zabihah. One word of advice, the food is spicy. The knock off your wig, sprinkler in your nose spicy. I have to say that I have not had such spicy food any where else. The waiters and his own family come to warn you about the level of spicy in their food and seems like they will have you signing a waiver some time soon. When it comes to price it is fairly reasonable for the portions that they serve, the huge portions that they are. Not giving it a 4⁄5 as I think that is given out a little too much so this restaurant is A-OK and would go there again anytime soon.

Super friendly and yummy neighborhood spot for Greek food. Walked in after going to the gym and craving falafel and the owner was very welcoming and patient. I knew I wanted falafel, but wanted to try some other things as well, so he gave me some suggestion. I got the gyro dinner, which includes meat, rice, and«greek salad». It was nice that the salad was fresh, not bagged, but the dressing seemed like bottled italian. The falafel was pretty good, not greasy or too dry, but the flavor wasn’t strong enough. I took my order to go and the owner was very nice to get me some hot tea – really good! Overall the place is just a relaxed place where you can get an affordable and tasty plate from a very friendly family :)

Absolutely a great family owned and operated restaurant. I usually just stop by for some take out(gyros are very tasty). The staff is always friendly and the food freshly made to order. They usually offer you a nice cup of tea while you wait, which is a pleasant gesture. The baklava is freshly made and wonderful. I would encourage everyone to try it… betcha come back!

I agree the food is delicious and the service is awesome! When I was there the owner let his 7 year old daughter wait on us because we were the only people in the restaurant, she was so cute and so excited to get to help out, she did a great job. Very good people, very good food.
