Well the food is fine, but the drive thru is slow and the people working there hate their jobs and have no semblance of class. Rude

Great burgers and shake! I most definitely will make this the main spot to eat at whenever I’m in town a banana shakes are to DIE! FOR! And the price is right

Love their quesadillas! I could eat them all day, and for under $ 6 you can’t beat the price. Their Oreo milkshake is delicious too! I tried their chicken nuggets the other day and they were pretty tasty as well. Overall, great price for the food that you get. Burgers aren’t bad either!

I love Cook Out. I was Excited when they came to Richmond, and I remain excited. They have impressively good hush-puppies, served fresh enough from the frier that they can melt your styrofoam takeout container, and the milkshakes are disgustingly good. This particular location is speedy and efficient, and everything is just as cheap as ever.

This is the best place for a fast food option. The food is delicious and fresh, and you don’t wait long. The staff is friendly as well. The only thing I’m not a fan of is there’s no real place to sit and eat, even outside. There was a old couch some kids were chilling on in the parking lot which is a bit odd. But otherwise, I’d definitely recommend it and come back.

Best fast food on the east coast! I’ve never been out west to an in-n-out, but I can’t imagine it is any better. The only thing they could work on is their consistency with the quesadillas. I go to this place at least one else a week. Use the right drive thru line it’s faster.

Oh how I have missed you Cookout! This was my go-to late night spot when I lived in NC. This location was great for us. Came here a bit before noon and pulled into the passenger side window so no wait whatsoever. The order taker was patient with us as we selected our meals(it took me some time to spot my favorites again). At the window payment and food delivery were prompt — all done within a few minutes. It tasted delicious and just as I remembered! I highly recommend it.

I’ve been here about three times and have never been really impressed. I don’t understand the lines and people who rave about this place. It is simply fast food. And cheap fast food at that. It’s nothing more than OK. The burger reminded me of something you would get from McDonald’s or Hardee’s back in the 80s. Even Wimpy may turn his nose up at this place. If your’e in the mood for fast food, check out Five Guys, Wendy’s or Burger King… all within a half mile of this place. If you want cheap, this is better than McDonald’s. However their hush puppies are garbage. I’d take two or three descent ones over a dozen small malformed ones. If you prefer a good burger, go to Carytown and check out Carytown Burgers and Fries or Burger Bach. You pay for what you get.

After one visit, I am a CookOut fan! They offer great tasting burgers(way better than other fast food options) and they are a good price! What else could you want? A milkshake! And, they offer tons of flavors! I highly recommend the peanut butter shake… OMG!

Cookout is addictive. I seriously wonder if crack is mixed into the cajun seasoning.

I LOVE CookOut! Nothing better than cheap, tasty food, with fast service. I recommend trying the burgers«cheddar style». I love the tea, sweet and strong. The only thing I’m not into are the shakes… too thick for me. Best discovery I’ve made in Richmond!

The food is normally pretty decent there, but my 1 star review is based on the service I received at this particular location. I went through the drive thru on a night when cookout was uncharacteristically slow. Placed my order and proceeded to the checkout window. Paid and waited for the meal. Then the unthinkable… The drive through attendant apparantly had an issue with the fact that my companion and I appeared to be of a different ethnic backgroukgound, and she voiced her opinion loud enough that my passenger and I both heard her hate filled opinion. Needless to say, I requested a reund and drove off. WIll never patronize that restaurant again.

Fast service & milkshakes are bomb. It’s a drive in or walk-up-to-order. Gets pretty busy and they’re open until 4am!(Great post party food). Chicken tenders are GREAT& so are milkshakes !! So thick & creamy. Other food choices are basic– nothing too special. It’s literally what they write on the menu that you get on your sandwich or wraps.

The food here isn’t that good. I was expecting more and with a name like cookout the food should taste like it was made at a cook out but doesn’t. I ended up throwing my food away– it was a waste. Anyway, the banana pudding milk shake is so good. It’s the only reason I would go again! I just won’t buy any food.

Some people come here when they’re drunk and hungry. Others come when they’re just feeling cheap and want to be full. I DOBOTH. While the universe doesn’t like me coming here(my car stalled out twice while in line for food, my own fault for not getting a new alternator until recently), I LOVECOMINGHERE. The menu is extensive and there is no way for you not to find several things you’re dying to eat on it. I can personally vouch for the chicken quesadillas, hush puppies, french fries, double bacon cheeseburgers, bacon wraps, chicken ranch wrap, and any shake that involves chocolate and/or peanut butter. There are a few tables to eat at, though most people just eat their food on the road or in their cars in the parking spaces. Trust me, once you bite into your food, you won’t even notice the chancy surroundings or the fact that your life has been reduced to eating fast food in your car at 2:30 am. Basically, you need a really good reason NOT to want to come to CookOut. Overall: 4.5 stars — — — — — Pros: –Food is STUPENDOUSLY cheap. –Food is MAGNANIMOUSLY delicious. –Shakes are SPECTACULARLY tasty. –Good track record for getting your order right(sorry, ran out of adverbs). Cons: — Long menu + stupid people or large groups = long line for drive-thru. — Cops know intoxicated people like to come eat/fight here sometimes, so keep an eye out for them lurking nearby, ready to pounce on unsuspecting taxpayers who fund their salaries.

This is the must visit place every time I come back to visit VCU. This fast food place is way better than McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, etc. The place is only for to go, no dine in but they have few chairs outside but I don’t think anyone want to eat in the cold during winter. I usually order the Richmond combo, which you order an entrée, two sides and a drink for only $ 4.59 and if you want a milkshake the add another dollar on top of that. I think this is a great deal for college’s students, especially after a night of drinks(since I usually want to grab Korean BBQ). I usually order Richmond combo(chicken double burger, chicken wraps and bacon wraps with huge tea. Those four items definitely fill me up every time. The price has always been the same since they opened. They have one near regency square mall but opened another one near VCU campus(before Willow Lawn Shopping Center, it is right next to burger king).

Finally tried the shakes. Opened til the early AM’s, we drove through giggling and you know what? We tried the shakes. At $ 2.69 for a 16oz(?) cup of ice cream plus whatever crazy combo your heart desires to put in the mix, this is a well-worth-your-calories late night snack. My choice? Strawberries + oreos. Another winning combo is banana pudding + banana. Yes, it was good. Stick it in your freezer and it’ll still be soft enough to enjoy the following day, if you have any leftover that is. BTW, when I mean combo, I really mean any combination of add-ons from the long list including walnuts, reeses cups, blueberry, banana pudding, and more. Want everything on the list or none at all? The price is the same as it was before: $ 2.69.

Get what you pay for Sometime you just want to get fast food and cookout was at the right place at the right time. Service was fast. 4.39 for a combo is too good to be true. The burger was dry, there were only five hush puppies, and the quesadilla was more mayo than cheese. I’m interested to try their chicken sandwiches to see if they are any better. So, now that the newness has worn off this place, you can get in and out the drive through quickly and leave with piping hot food off the grill. Whats funny about this place is they have 2 drive through windows, one on the normal side and one that opens on the passenger side. The entire line was on the normal side one, and there was no one on the one that opens to the passenger side. So I drove right up, ordered and kept it moving. Quick, fast and in a hurry… I have no problem reaching scross the front seat to get my food if it means I can blow through a drive through in 5 minutes. Im still happy with this place, and the star item is still the milkshakes! **my favorite — oreo cookie
