This place is terrible on every level. You go in and there’s always a long wait. The receptionists there always have an attitude and have the worst customer service. Nobody in there knows what they are talking about when you ask them a question because everything gets sent out to a lab. They told me my glasses would be ready in 10 business days. 14 days later I call to check if my glasses are ready and they tell me they will have the lab call me back with an update. I’ve had to call them 3 more times and still haven’t gotten called back with an update. And when I asked for a manager they said there wasn’t one in until the next day and that there was nothing they could do for me. I will never buy anything here again. The employees lack respect for their customers and don’t follow through. This entire experience has been a big waste of time and an utter disappointment.

They don’t follow up with you. You have to be proactive and do the research yourself. Need more knowledge staffs

I said«Never again!» when I got glasses at Kaiser Richmond’s Optical Sales four years ago. Now I’m saying it again and this time I mean it. Words that come to mind when I think of them are incompetent, bungling, substandard, lazy, and expensive. The only reason that they’re in business is because they’re only 20 yards away from the Optical Department. If Optical Sales was an independent shop located outside of Kaiser, they would be out of business within 6 months due to lousy service and high prices. After an eye exam at Kaiser, I walked into Optical Sales and saw a pair of sunglass frames that I liked very much and decided to get them on the spot. Even with my $ 150 Kaiser frame and lens credit, the total cost was still $ 450! But I wanted them for an upcoming trip to Arizona the following month so I bought ‘em. Delivery time was going to be 7 to 10 days… somewhat long, but with ample time for my trip departure. Long story short, they got the prescription wrong not once, but twice, and I never did get the sunglasses in time for my trip. After having wasted a month with them, I demanded and got a full refund, but I’m never going back to Optical Sales at Richmond Kaiser.

Kaiser Optical sales in Park Shadelands, Walnut Creek facilty is to be avoided. They don’t have any clue as to what they’re doing and cannot follow optometrist instructions. Didn’t have the style/Rx of contacts ordered by optometrist, said they will contact me, they never did, also charged me for non existent contacts, more days passed and they asked me to come in again to pick up contacts — wrong contacts! More days passed and I get a set of contacts in the mail(not what I was expecting)!! Went back to get credit for unused previous Rx boxes(this is one of the perks with Kaiser) but for some reason they couldn’t take them. More days passed and got a call to pick up my contacts!!! So now I have a twice as many as I ordered. I told them but they’re too stupid to know what to do. Each time I had to make arrangement to leave work, get on public transit and have family member drive me there. What a freak’n hassle. One explanation given was because I have special discount, transaction got fouled up. Filed a complaint but nothing ever happened. The sales staff are a useless bunch.

I had issue with Oakland and the supervisor and they are not flexible with you. Good news is that I discovered that Costco fulfilling the prescription quicker and better quality than Kaiser Oakland. We each pair ordered in Oakland, they needed to be redone. Costco got it right and I can see much clearer. Never buy insurance with Kaiser as when you do use it, it virtually saves your nothing.

I’ve been wearing glasses for 25 years and in December, after my optometry appointment, I went straight to the Optical Sales department to purchase a pair of glasses. Actually I prefer to go to Site for Sore Eyes because of their deals and large selection of frames but since I have optical coverage and needed a pair of glasses before my vacation, I said what the heck. My previous experiences at this particular Kaiser Optical department was just a-ok, nothing stellar and I have left with glasses I was ok with. To my surprise and amazement, I had an awesome experience with Veronica(oops or was it Victoria). She was patient and had an eye for what frame/shape works for my large(fat) face! She was knowledgeable about the different types of lenses, coatings, and high index features. She never rushed me and was very helpful. I finished up the transaction very happy and satisfied with my choices(for once in my life!). I was a bit disappointed to find out that my glasses would not be ready for about 7 – 10 days. The frames, lenses, and anti-reflective coating came to about $ 400+ but with my Kaiser benefit, it came to about $ 200. A bit pricey but I was 100% happy with my frames. I’ve never had a pair of glasses I loved… until this day! Worth every penny! To my surprise, my glasses were ready in 3 days! And Veronica was there again to assist me! She meticulously adjusted my frames to my liking and comfort. Her customer service was professional and admirable. I wish all my Kaiser experiences were like this! She is the perfect example of exemplary customer service!

The optometrist I saw(Dr. Evan Shiu) was awesome and also really cute but as a married woman I noticed nothing and saw only a vaguely Asian blur wearing a wedding ring. I SWEAR. Anyway, this review is *not* about optometry but about optical sales– the place just down the hall where they sell the actual glasses themselves. For some reason(*cough*retardation*cough*) I decided to give Kaiser a try instead of heading off to LensCrafters as usual. I’m kind of tired and cranky, so I’m just going to get right to the point: The woman who helped me was as stupid as 13 George Bushes stacked on top of 13 Jessica Simpsons bound with twine to 13 Jessica Albas with DMX, Kanye West, and Paris Hilton on top. Not the best customer service mixture. In addition, the glasses cost every bit as much as LensCrafters but it takes Kaiser A WEEKAND A HALF to get them done. No lie. The woman said, «You can’t get them done in an hour! It takes too much equipment to do them on site– it’s impossible. You wouldn’t want glasses they do in an hour.» Bitch, please. I’ve never had glasses made in more than an hour and LensCrafters has done me up right each and every time. As a Kaiser member(why the hell else was I there) I was supposed to get a 20% discount(even with the discount, I would pay as much or more than at LensCrafters) but it appeared to the woman helping me to be the first time she had ever encountered this type of transaction before, although she claimed she had been working there for 20 years. She did the whole thing wrong, couldn’t figure out what she did wrong, then ended up redoing it and charging me about $ 40 more than she initially quoted me because her first quote was a mistake. There’s more, but it’s boring. Suffice it to say: I walked. I’m going to LensCrafters. They get it done right in a fucking hour and they don’t dick you around with price.
