Zoe’s Cookies and Other Delights is a wholesale bakery servicing the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond since 1983 with outstanding baked cookies, brownies, and fruit bars. We also sell frozen cookie dough pucks, scone dough pucks and will soon be offering our brownies and fruit bars in frozen ready to bake quarter sheet boxes. We sell to corporate cafeterias, food service management companies, catering companies, grocery stores, universities, cafes, delis, coffee shops, performing arts venues, and more. We have a fundraising program that offers 3 pound tubs of cookie dough for schools and athletic organizations.
Our fleet of vans and drivers make most of our deliveries, UPS is utilized for customers outside of our regular delivery routes, and frozen carriers transport pallets of our frozen dough to customers requiring large quantities.
As a small company we still have great flexibility in meeting the needs of our customers that larger organizations are not able to accommodate.
History
Established in 1983.
Zoe Smith began baking in her Richmond, CA kitchen as a way to support herself and infant daughter in 1981. She had spent her early years in a bakery where her mother worked and so always loved to bake. She packed Nia on her back, visited the local cafes and delis with samples, and Zoe’s Cookies was born shortly after Nia. Unfortunately, as she discovered nine months later, it is illegal to sell food to the public from a home kitchen and the knock at her door one morning by two health inspectors was the knock of doom! Unemployed for months and desperate for money, she found a small retail bakery in Albany, CA that agreed to rent space to her after hours and soon she was back in business with all the required licensing and insurance. She rented from two other bakeries over a three year period before having the funds to open her own bakery, stayed there for seven and a half years, then moved to her current location in 1993.

Business Owner
Zoe graduated from San Francisco State University with a BA in Fine Arts; never took a business course but learned how to run a business by jumping in and doing it one day at a time. Ask her and she will tell you that she still has a lot to learn, even after all these years.
Outside of baking, her other passions include flamenco music and dance (she was a student of flamenco dance for many years), camping, hiking, jazz, Afro Cuban music and drumming (studied drumming with Carolyn Brandy, drummer extraordinaire), gardening… well, lots of things actually.
