Morris Nursery

I bought a 2 persimmon trees a couple months ago. I planted it properly and have watered it properly. I even bought their fertilizer. Alas one of the trees died. They were quite costly. I called today to ask what I could do to get a replacement. The guy on the phone said unless I also used their compost I would not get a replacement. I have been a customer for quite sometime and will never ever shop there again. Very disappointing that they don’t stand by their product

A very nice nursery. The only problem is that it’s too far! Great selection of herbs and plants lovingly cared for by staff and the owner. Everyone is friendly and eager to assist you… and their funky cat adds to the quaintness of this nursery.

LOVE this place. You will want everything because it is so well groomed. Great plants, and help to pick out what you want.

This place has a beautiful selection of climate appropriate flowers and shrubs. The best part about them though is their knowledgable staff and approachable service. They are the 1^st place I think of with my garden questions!

Our go to nursery. We are there every month as we built a new house and need to landscape. Knowledgable staff. Healthy plants. Friendly, what more could you want. See you soon

I love this nursery and since there are so few left in the Modesto area I would love to shop here but I won’t. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Ron may be knowledgeable about plants but he is a very rude person. So, thanks but no thanks. I will drive clear across town to West Turf where they are polite and helpful to all walk through the door.

Ron is one of the owners, and is very knowledgeable and very willing to help. A couple changes in staff, and now the customer service is fantastic. Get there when they fist open, they get busy fast, especially on weekends.

Gavin was very patient, knowledgeable and professional. Which is important to me considering i’m a garden novice. I’m from SF and happened to be near Riverbank visiting my mother. I wanted to pick out some great fruit tress for her and I. The lady at the register was quite rude with me about wanting to purchase some fruit trees and inquiring for help… thankfully Gavin was there. He stepped up and walked me over and went through all the options for me. I went with peach and oranges. He even did his best to explain the difference in the varieties the fruits flavor would have. I also grabbed a few trays of their vegetables for my mother. Mom was very surprised I came home with a trunk full of commitments! She plans to come here to compete with my urban garden back in SF!

I just went to have a look around because I have spring fever and next thing I know a nice employee was bringing me a cart cause I had my hands full. its a beautiful place and they have lots of great stuff. they even called an employee on the radio and he met me at my truck to load it up. It was great

The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced! I rate this Nursery zero stars, but Unilocal wouldn’t let me submit the review without at least one star. My husband and I were pushed into getting plants we really didn’t want. Ron was helping us, but said no to every suggestion we had. He didn’t seem to care what we wanted. He just wanted us to be done, so he could ring us up and move on to the next poor person who had a simple question. I said more than once, «ok, thank you for your help», so he would go away & let us decide what we wanted, but he wouldn’t go away. In the end I came back & returned all the plants except the blueberry plants, even though Home Depot & Westerf Nursery had bigger plants with blossoms already on them for $ 8 less. It got worse when I returned the plants. When I walked in there were 4 staff standing behind the counter talking & it took them a few minutes to acknowledge me. Then while they were processing the return, one of the guys who worked there started hugging one of the girls that worked there, right behind the counter! One positive is there is one girl that works there that was wearing a camouflage hat with a blond ponytail out the back that was super nice. Poor girl should go work for Westerf, so she doesn’t have to work for/​with Ron! My husband and I won’t be back. EVER!

One of only a few nurseries left in the area. They have a great selection of trees, shrubs, and bedding plants. Staff are all genuinely knowledgeable about their field, which is getting more and more difficult to find these days. The pottery selection is one of the best, albeit slightly pricy. They also have one of the better selections of tropical /​shade plants of the nurseries in the area. The shop always have gift related items too, and is fantastic to visiting during the holidays as it is Christmas themed with Department 54 town items as well as a very large selection of ornaments. Since they also sell commercially, they have large quantity supplies of many plants, so if you need several of one items, this is the place to go for healthy, well, developed plants.

I have been visiting Morris Nursery for over a decade. I greatly appreciate their knowledge, insights and expertise — they have helped me select plants for a very complicated garden, and are now guiding me as I switch to drought-​tolerant. Ron and Dave are patient, considerate and incredibly helpful. No question is too «small» or «silly». They go out of their way to give you a positive experience.
And if you haven’t visited them for thier annual Christmas Magic, you are missing a major festive activity. While they have goodies and gifts all year ’round, Christmas Magic has become a tradition in our family for starting the holiday. The artistry invested in the decorating of trees with unique and beautiful ornaments of every imaginable theme is in itself a reason to visit. There is so much to see, it becomes a destination as well as shopping for special gifts. In many ways, it’s a throwback to an older time when people went to a store to browse, socialize and enjoy beautiful display design, and not just shop.
That’s really the hallmark of Morris Nursery. It’s a cliché, but it really is old-​fashioned service and courtesy, with expert advice, and modern day technology. Morris is my «go-​to» nursery. — Author Claudia Newcorn

Though they have everything you may need for your yard or garden the service is lacking due to disorganization and there is no follow through. I ordered a grouping of plants for my backyard 2 months ago. Understandably some were not available right away. As they came in I received calls to come pickup and I asked to have them all held until the entire order was in. After the most important tree arrived I called and asked for delivery and to my dismay several of the items that had been ordered and received were no longer available. Somehow my order for the items could not be found. Additionally the design expert who made an appointment to help with the layout of my front yard project flaked twice without calling to reschedule. I’m going somewhere else for my plants and landscape needs going forward. Thanks for nothing Morris…

My husband and I just went to Morris Nursery and the staff was very rude. Then when we went to leave I noticed that the item that I had gotten was broken. No help was offered to assist me to find a replacement. This is not the Morris Nursery of days gone by, sad to say but I won’t be going back.

Overall great nursery! Very organized and neat! Staff there knows their stuff! Now im probably spelling this wrong but. Yedveega is the BEST! She is very creative and knowledgable! She helped up design our front yard and it came out beautiful!!! I always go back to her for advice and new projects. Great customer service and guarantee. Only con its a LITTLE pricey but that dosent stop us from coming here cause they are one of my favs and of course one of the best in the area!

This is a wonderful nursery.
My wife and I landscaped with more trees, shrubs, and flowers from Morris than all other nurseries combined in Modesto, Salida, Oakdale, and Turlock combined.
Our three favorite nurseries in Modesto have all gone out of business since November 2008, but Morris is still operating.
They have an amazing selection and excellent customer service. Those things we’d purchased here have been healthy and the people who work here have instructed us how to plant, feed and water each plant, etc, that we’ve asked about.
Why not five stars? They’re apparently limited to a certain extent by their nursery distributors and vendors, and cannot get what we want without waiting longer than I want to. Easily remedied with my next order from Morris, I’m certain.

I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid. They always have an amazing selection of everything you could possibly want or need to beautify your yard, home, or any kind of space. We have bought lots of fruit trees from them and they are super healthy and growing strong! Their staff of plant experts are always helpful and available to answer all my gardening questions. Love this place!

Awesome array of plants, tree’s, and yard art to choose from. Great customer service. Nice not to have one employee outside. We at least saw 3. I love that they will order you something that they don’t have. It’s nice not having to go looking everywhere searching for that certain plant or tree. They were very educated in how to take care of tree’s. They even give you a year warranty if you don’t have a green thumb. ;0) They are very helpful and we will definitely will come back for our landscaping needs.

I love this place. I don’t have much of a green thumb, but there was always someone here to answer questions and provide recommendations. They are experts with plants that can accommodate the hot, dry heat of the Central and San Joaquin valleys. And I found that they carry a much wider variety of plants than other nurseries. My husband and I were such fans that when we moved out of the area, we actually made a special trip back when installing landscaping in our new backyard. We just couldn’t find that level of service and expertise in local nurseries that we visited. Highly recommend!

The folks at Morris Nursery have outdone themselves. Their indoor Christmas display is exceptional. Tons of gorgeous trees with sparkling, unique ornaments. A fantastic, magical Dept 56 display with two trains running through. My four year old was mesmerized, could have watched the trains all day!
Stopped by to check out their brand new building and couldn’t help but spend almost $ 200 on Dept 56. We picked up a new house for the North Pole village, some trees and elves.
Morris Nursery is a gem!
