National Cremation Service

When my Father passed away in September 2015 we came here to see about arrangements. From the phone call to set up appointment to the actual appointment Amy was very sweet, kind and helpful. She was able to give us all of our options without it ever feeling like she was rushing us through the process. She made us feel at ease from the beginning to the end. I would definitely recommend their services to my friends and family!

My father-​in-​law was killed in an accident and my wife and I had no idea where to begin. We were referred to National Cremation Service by a family friend who had nothing but kind words and high esteem for NCS. Amy Calhoun was extremely kind and expressed sincere condolences to our family as she explained and walked us through the cremation process. My wife and I lived out of state so we were only in town for 2 weeks to settle my father-​in-​laws affairs and in that short time Amy made sure everything was taken care of and was in close contact with my family and I. She relieved so much stress during a time of great devastation, and we cannot thank her enough for her kindness, professionalism, and sincerity. We highly recommend NCS when considering services for your loved one.

My husband passed away recently and I had no idea how to locate a a place for cremation. My friend told me to check Unilocal.I found National Cremation Service and they were awesome. This was the worst time of my life and Elaine made it so easy and so fast. There was no pressure at all to buy any extras. This place made my situation a little bit easier. I recommend 5 them 100%.

Having a love one die is a big stress, Elaine at National Cremation Services was very supportive. She was always on target, helped us out with memory cards, going through the cremation process and the urn. We even had 15 min. to view him before they started the cremation process. My dad passed away recently and when it was time to make his arrangements, I started looking for reviews for cremation services. I was surprised to see how few reviews there were. I guess it is difficult to write reviews in the wake of a loved one’s death.
My dad, a veteran, had always let us know he wanted to be cremated and interred in the Riverside National Cemetery after his death. He was a humble, simple man and I knew he wouldn’t want a big fancy ordeal after his passing.
I contacted National Cremation Service (sometimes they are listed as National Cremation Society) and spoke with Amy C. who explained everything including cost for their basic cremation service. They also work with the VA National Cemetery for those who have veteran’s benefits for burial. It sounded exactly like what my dad would want, so I set up an appointment to meet with her.
Amy was very professional and compassionate, by the time my sister and I arrived for our appointment, they had already dispatched a driver to retrieve my dad. I don’t know why, but it gave me a lot of comfort to know my dad was «being taken care of» instead of just lying in a morgue. There are a additional services available for additional cost, like viewing the body prior to cremation, but there was no pressure. It was simply presented as «Some families like to have this service and it is available if you like.» Also, while I was waiting, I noticed there were some upgrades available, but they weren’t really discussed. I guess they assume you will ask if you want something upgraded. There was no pressure whatsoever.
Amy explained everything that would happen, when it would happen, and why in great detail. By the time we left, my dad had been picked up, we had a date and time for his services at the Riverside National Cemetery, as well as a «certified celebrant» to conduct his services, which was the one thing we paid extra for. We did not need to do anything else after we left. Amy at National Cremation took care of everything and it was just under $ 1800.
They also do a lot of extras, like report the death to social security, provide VA forms, places to contact for the deceased, and order death certificates. Amy let us know she was there for us if she could help us in any way and I believe it. I was very pleased with her and National Cremation and would not hesitate use them again if needed.

Like many people, I avoid thinking about death. My family was recently demolished by the loss of a loved one. Hours after our loss, we had to face the facts and work on taking care of our beloved’s body.
Gayle Kirk, the Funeral Arranger from NCS instantly became our guide and gave us the options we needed and the courage to move forward with them.
I assumed that by NOT planning for this, we would be bombarded with extra charges, confusing procedures, and unwelcome surprises. Gayle sensed that we were not big spenders and, with great dignity, sold us a cremation option that came to less than $ 2000. I know is possible to spend less than $ 1000, but Gayle’s guidance was easily worth more than $ 1000 to us. Perhaps it is crass to put the dollar figures here. But I would have liked to have known this when I read reviews.
I imagine that there are less expensive options offered by NCS. The main thing is that we never felt like we were being «up-​sold.»
Riverside is lucky to have Ms. Kirk and her company’s services. Her office felt like an oasis during a time of tears and confusion. We lost our cherished family member, but I honestly feel like we added a professional friend.
