Being that this is the only chain hotel which is independently owned in town, I had a few more expectations given this was near the Smokey Mountains. The staff here was really nice and made it feel like your home away from home. However, if you have a bad back or your body has been beating up on Tail of the Dragon on a motorcycle, rafting, hiking etc… I wish the beds were a little more comfy and not so firm with old spring mattresses. The beds are all Queen sizes… So the first small room we were given looked like a collage dorm with the mattress concave in the middle. I was in pain after 5min. and exhausted from my drive up from Orlando. I did call front desk and told them about my room stay in #403, we were moved to #408 which had two queens. Changes I would make: * Better mattresses * A bigger breakfast area * Bring more of the outdoors decorating into the hotel for $ 75 a night or $ 80.00 and have a modern cabin feel to the hotel then just all white and cold feeling.

Very friendly staff, I got a discount without even asking for it. It feels good when you find a motel heavily biased toward bikers(quite common around here, a few miles from The Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway). No problem walking in with your wet rain-suit and your hair up in the air like a madman. They even have complimentary towels to wipe your bike from the morning dew… awesome! No wonder they had a huge line of motorcycles parked in of the building. Rooms are clean and quiet, breakfast on par with all the other guys.

My husband and I got routed onto the Cherohola late at night while we were both feeling sick and ended up dropping off the other side a little outside of Robbinsville. We pulled into the Microtel about midnight and my husband went in to check thee rates. The lady at the check in counter laughed when he told her we’d been on the Cherohola and gave us a discount on our room(we looked pretty rough) The rooms were very clean, if small, and the staff was very friendly. Also: the local police/sheriff was a very kind man for not laughing at us.
