We turned in here because we missed the turn we needed, and were just trying to get oriented before leaving the area after a few days of riding. Seeing that it offered breakfast, we thought, «Why not?» Nana and friends were outside having a smoke and chatting, but were out quickly with water and good coffee(in Popeye’s mugs she bought when they closed, apparently!). We got a great feed of good Southern breakfast that was prompt, and friendly service. There’s a laundromat next door, if we had been smart about it, we would have done the pile of laundry we had in our panniers there while we ate and enjoyed the sunshine.

After riding by this place a few times, and recognizing there was a limitation on local options, I decided to check this place out for breakfast. Once we got there and noticed the special of the day, we decided to go for it instead of breakfast food. The special of the day was soup beans, greens, fried potatoes and corn bread and each were excellent. The food deserved a five star rating but because it’s about the overall experience… the reason that I took off a star is because apparently this place serves as hub for the locals to pay their utility bill. We must’ve been there on a due date or the day that everyone decided to drop in. They were awkwardly standing around, waiting at the cash register near our table… while we were eating, it just made it a bit weird. The out door seating seemed nice and in hindsight, that was where we should’ve eaten.
