«Meh. I’ve experienced better” — definitely true.
I have been to Jetty several times, each time I have been treated like scum for asking very basic questions. I feel that the staff is rude. I now go crabbing at Kelly’s up the street. I don’t understand the bitterness/​bad attitude that is given off at this place. Crabbing should be a fun family based activity. I shouldn’t have to feel like I’m walking on eggshells on a fishing day out. I wish they’d get their act together because it is a great crabbing spot. I feel that the attitude given out at the front desk can squash your experience here.

Stopped in because I was in the mood for fresh crab and stumbled on this place. We bought 2 live crabs and they boiled it there on the spot, no frills but they had a variety of sauces for us to choose from and all the guys working there were friendly and nice. Sat on a picnic bench and ate our crab and watched people fish. Crab was $ 12/​lb which I guess is the going rate in these parts and we were about a week or so after the close of their season. It was a nice and relaxing and very spur of the moment as we drove down the Oregon Coast.

Run don’t walk away from this place, the owners just seem like angry unhappy people and signs posted around the property give you every indication that they are sure that all their potential customers are stupid. We came here a few years back and returned thinking we would get the same great service and we were sorely mistaken! It seems the angry old woman who owns the place fired her only friendly son and now what is left leaves you wanting to get out of there as fast as you can! Save yourself the headache and go to Kelly’s up the road where the friendly son landed, you will be glad you did!

Very poor costumer service, and the prices are beyond outrages. Spent over $ 1000 in total with my family and we weren’t close to satisfied with the experience as a whole. If I would’ve known I had to spend over 5 dollars on a bottle of water, I would’ve made it on my own. Never coming back here again. Made the worst decision of my life by coming here in the first place. I’m pretty sure I heard them make a racist comment and that just killed our whole experience. We had family visiting from Chicago and we apologized over and over again about bringing them here.

This review is about our visit in August of 2015. We have been to the Oregon coast numerous times. We have also visited Jetty Fishery quite a few times over the years. We don’t always get a lot of «keepers» but we always have a great time. On previous trips we’ve rented a boat from the fishery instead of crabbing off the dock. Usually that’s the best way to come away with more crab. However, dock crabbing is also a lot of fun. We only got one keeper this time but we all had a great time pulling in the nets and checking out the catch. We always do.
Big tubs of boiling water is ready for catch. They will cook the crab for you. If you don’t want to catch your own, you can get fresh crab there and enjoy it on one of the picnic tables. They also sell clams and oysters and it’s all about as fresh as it can get.
The staff goes out of their way to help in anyway they can. This would be a 5 star except the price is a little steep should you decide to buy the crab instead of catch it. Other than that, I have no negatives. It’s a great place to stop along the Oregon coast.

The nastiest old lady works here. We stop here everyone we head to our beach house and it’s an easy stop to get crab, steamers and oysters. The seafood is good and it’s great that they give you the option of getting it cleaned and steamed there.
But the old lady that’s inside is beyond rude! She completely ruins the vibe of the place. Her attitude and how she speaks to customers is completely inappropriate. She tried to nickel and dime us on everything this past weekend. Mind you, we’ve come here multiples times and she was charging us for things that the others never charge for! She even said, «it’s summer, we need to make all the money we can» uhhh what!!! YOU CANT RAPE PEOPLE OF THEIR MONEY AS A SAFETY CUSHION FOR YOUR SLOW MONTHS. Regardless, her nasty lol attitude needs to be put in place. We have no problem paying, it’s when the prices and charges are not consistent that it becomes a problem. ALSO, thE fact that she’s so rude make it worse. She can just as easily make her money and be polite to customers.
Don’t go here, prices aren’t any cheaper than other places, instead you’ll have to deal with a nasty old lady that will ruin your WHOLE experience.

We were looking forward to finally getting some fresh Ousters, clams and crab. I went up and talked to the red haired gal who was in the outside kitchen cooking crabs. There was a ramp down to a dock which you could rent boats and crab nets. Being curious tourists, we went a few feet onto the ramp looking at all the crab, oyster shells, and salmon caucuses which were being thrown into the bay. As she was throwing them out, I felt a spray of cooked crab water hit my head! I chalked it up to maybe he slight wind had carried it my direction. I then asked her what the price was for the crab. She mumbled something like eleven something for the cooked and a lower price for the live. I asked for clarification. She then scolded my husband for walking down to toward the dock and said; you can only go down there if you rented a boat! She then told me to get my kids away from the rocks! She then responded «I think I just said;… I honestly didn’t comprehend what she said, as I was shocked and blown away regarding her tone and attitude. We just walked away and left. As we were walking back to our car, another couple asked a few questions regarding the food. After explaining our experience they decided to look for another location. A total of six lost customers today! Hopefully, the owner reads these reviews and will talk to their employee (s) about being courteous! She needs to be reminded where her paycheck a come from!!! The only reason for one star, is because I couldn’t leave ««ZERO»!x

Our son found a brochure for this place. And after pricing crab in the stores, we decided to go and do the dock crabbing.
Very friendly staff, decent sized dock. Wasn’t too crowded while we were there.
You can purchase your license here and rent crab rings and buy bait. For bait they have three options, fish clams or chicken. Ring comes with fish with rental. But that does get eaten up after a few tosses.
We tried all three at different points including combinations of.
The pricing is not too bad, unless you don’t catch any crab, which unfortunately was the case for us. But if you catch two, you come out ahead.
There were three of us, we were there from 11 am until 5 pm. Only 2 keepers. But it was a nice day! The majority of our day we did catch crab but they were females or too small. Can’t even begin to tell you how many were just under size. Frustrating.
The only negative is watching people, some who even asked us how to measure and determine sex, take undersized crab. These people did not do the option of having them cook your crab for you, a free service if you rent their rings. They were taking them off property or to their campsites, knowing full well of the size issues.
We had such a good time that two of us went back the next day, for the whole day. Ended up with 2 ½. I say ½ because this one did not have claws and was missing two legs.
That was another thing we noticed when pulling our pots, there is/​was a large number of crabs with missing claws. We are guessing someone is claw harvesting. Not from here buy obviously in the area.
We would definitely do this again when in the area.

We went for the 4^th of July weekend. we literally spend almost $ 200 on the cabin alone (little step up from a tent) that smelled like septic tank because of the bathrooms next door. and it was so busy and the only view we had was the bathrooms. it was like staying in a parking lot. They nickel and dime us everywhere they can. When we left, they told me they are not able to check the cabin because they are busy, so they will check it and refund my deposit the next day. I said no problem. the next day they called and asked me to come in since they need my physical CC. I was in Washington Already LOL. the lady was so mean and basically told me that is not her problem. I told her I will just call my CC and dispute the whole charge. that is when she changed her mind and told me someone will call me later on to resolve it.
I did get a call the next day and they did refund my deposit, but the whole experience was really bad and I would not recommend it.

AMAZING AND AWESOME DAY on June 27, 2015. Will never forgot an awesome time on Nehalem Bay. Cant wait til next year. The crew super COOL and FRIENDLY. The SEAFOOD was very GOOD.

The area was clean and inviting. The surrounding had a good feeling. Thanks to Stanford and crew they all were 5 STARS. * * * * *.

This was an awesome experience. We took the boat out for two hours with three rings. We caught a lot of crab, but since we went late in the day we didn’t catch any big enough to keep… So I recommend you crab earlier in the day. Like before 10. I still regret nothing, we had the time of our lives out there. It was exciting and adventurous.
We ended up buying some crab when we got back. It was delicious. It was $ 15 a pound. So if you do any of their crabbing deals and catch 3 or more crabs, then you really end up saving money. One group caught 7!
We stayed in the cabin, not the RVs or camping area. It had two bunks, but the bottom could be extended to a double. There was a mini fridge and a microwave, and a small table with two chairs. Perfect for only 2 people, no more. The area around was nice too. Some beach to walk on, rocks to climb, and even a spot where we put up a hammock!
One thing is that you need to bring everything else. We brought our own salad and bread and corn and Sriracha. They had paper plates but no silverware. So bring some.
I would not hesitate to come back.

The crab was amazing and cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The setting is exactly what you want for that true dockside experience. Amazing!

We had so much fun crabbing with two grandkids from Portland. Weather was gorgeous in late November. What a rare day. Neither my husband nor I had ever been crabbing so the kids had to show us how. We were given lousy bait by the Fishery and when other people left, they gave us some raw chicken pieces and we had better luck with them, but we never got any crabs big enough to take home. still it was fun.
It is a cool, funky place with some funny signs and sculptures. I’d go back again and do the afternoon all over again.

I’ve been here a couple of times now and stayed in one of the little cabins, while the rest of my party has stayed in the adjacent RV parking. this is a great place to RV camp, If you have small kids and want to just hang out on a beach, build sand castles, maybe a little water fun w/​blow-​up kayaks and floating devices, without worry of big or sneaker waves coming up, this is a great place to stay. They have a little inlook and beach and it’s a great place for the kids to play. If you want to go crabbing, you can rent one of their boats and go out, or crab from their dock, or just buy their crab, oysters, clams, etc from their marina itself. The crab was good, but a bit on the expensive side. I stayed in one of the little cabins, they have two attached to each other. Small room with a bunk bed w/​2 foam camper pads on each, table/​2chairs, nice little fridge and microwave. Just perfect for a place needing to sleep in only. Only downside is separate bathrooms, and a «pay» shower. But hey, it’s «camping» ;)
They also have tent camping, first come basis at the other end. If you have a big family tent and/​or have several groups camping together, I’d suggest reserving one or two of the RV spots. The «Lady» who owns it, doesn’t care for that, BUT if you are paying their price for an RV spot, that should never matter.

Came by to get clams, a bit small but tasty with butter and garlic, they were purged so it was clean. We did stay to crab off the pier. Crabs we caught just got thru molting so not too much meat inside, very good experience, I’ll go again and hopefully it will be better, the employees are very friendly, great place to hang out for few days. Kind on the pier under 12 need to wear a life vest.

We came here to buy live clams and they were amazing — petite and incredibly fresh! All of the buildings and outbuildings at Jetty Fishery have a genuinely-​aged, weather-​beaten look, but steamer area is clean and the shellfish are kept in bins with fresh, circulating water. We thought it was a pretty great place, and the guy who helped us was friendly and casual. It’s obvious that they take their crab very seriously, and we’ll probably go back for some of that.

COUNT YOUR OYSTERS!!! It’s Labor Day weekend, and it’s busy. But that is absolutely NO EXCUSE for taking a whole hour to bag 4 dozen oysters… and then to not give us the full 4 dozen oysters! it’s didn’t look like 4 dozen, so we asked. He confirmed. 4 dozen. So we counted. 41 oysters… at $ 2 an oyster, a total rip off. Bad customer service at the store, too.

My family and I frequent the Rockaway area yearly and Jetty Fishery is the only place we go for crabbing. The people are very much my type of peps. I spent years Squid fishing and know that fishermen can be at times difficult. The people at Jetty are always kind and friendly. I have never had them cook my catches but have seen many satisfied individuals leaving with their catches steaming hot. I fish the jetty regularly and purchase my bait and such from these guys.
In all a GREAT family place. although sometimes there are too many people in the water crabbing and getting tied up in gear could be a possiablility.

Was in town the weekend of Oct 27 and 28 and it POURED rain! Was really happy, after catching some crab on Sunday, these guys stayed open late for us to cook up our crab. They could have closed up early, but they didn’t and were great to deal with. Definitely would go back and use their facilities next time we are in town.

On the day we were to depart, we made a spontaneous decision to extend our «long weekend» into a full week. Having done so, that left us with no real plans for this day as all we were going to do was make the drive back out to Portland.
I called around to see if we could take a boat out to fish, but it was too late. We decided to go rent a couple of rods to find a spot to fish anyhow, and it took awhile to find Jetty Marina, that said they rent out rods.
It was only 7 minutes or so from our house, and upon arrival, you notice immediately that they have an oysters/​clam/​crab stand, kicking alive and fresh as can be. Now this is my kind of place!
Though we had called to find out if they rent rods — upon arrival she said that none of the rods were ready to be rented — which really defeated the purpose of our renting a boat then.
We spent the majority of the afternoon crabbing.
Basically, you buy a «non-​resident» shellfish license that is good for 3 days for $ 9,50, good for one person.
You buy as many crab rings as you want, at $ 7.50 each, which includes one rather nasty fish carcass — or it turns out, raw chicken works well, too. (Apparently, crab will eat anything.)
You find a good spot on the dock, tie down your buoy to one of the hooks, and drop in the pots. Wait a customary 12 – 15 minutes, then pull it up to find your pot FULL of Dungeness crabs of all sizes! (Can’t keep any females and you can’t keep crabs smaller than certain sizes, so you can’t keep most, but it’s still fun!)
In Oregon, there is a size limitation on keepers, and at this location, I found that most are smaller than that minimum. Some, however, are right on spot, and others are downright HUGE. There’s no feeling like lugging up that ring only to find a monster crab sitting there wondering what on earth is happening.
We also bought 2 dozen oysters. It turns out that the «LARGE» oyster in Oregon is about the size of your face. So I opted for a dozen medium for BBQ, and a dozen small for raw consumption. (Back at home, I decided they were all too big for raw and bbq’d them all.) For an additional fee, they will also cook up for you any crab that you might catch, or any additional crabs that you can purchase here. I highly suggest you have them cook it for you — it was perfect.
The staff was as inviting and polite as can be, and we had a blast here. What a great way to spend an afternoon if the weather is good. Pack a cooler with beer, sandwiches, and snacks — — bring two beach chairs and catch your dinner. It’s a great way to spend quality time, hanging out, while becoming self-​sustaining master!
OK, so Rob did all the manual labor while I sat there and drank beer with my Cheetos, but I have good reason. She said only the person with the license may touch the crab rings! But based on what I saw, if you have waterproof rubber gloves, it’d be wise to bring those too. It’s hard work, and the rope attached to the crab rings are rather suspect, slimy, and murder on your hands.
But what a fun day this was…
