Wheeler On the Bay Lodge & Marina

This is one of our ‘go to’ places to stay on the Oregon Coast. The rooms are homey, clean and affordable. A quick breakfast is provided each day and DVDs are included. A gas fireplace in the winter and the bay in summer make this place a perfect getaway any time during the year

I am writing this review from the deck of the Old Glory Suite at Wheeler on the Bay. This place is awesome! The owners take pride in their place, they will go way out of their way to make sure your stay is the best!

Great customer service they went above and beyond normal motels. I will be staying at the nines downtown portland for $ 250 a night if this motel was downtown Portland at the same rate I would pick Wheeler inn way before I pick the nines.

Friendly service, great little extras, great décor, and just a lovely location. This place is under new management and they have really upgraded. If you are looking for a family like atmosphere, cute little cottage like location, and great prices; this is the perfect place!

Wow! Very impressive motel on the bay. We stayed in the Tuscany room with a jacuzzi tub and fireplace. Room was clean, comfortable and quite cozy. No detail was overlooked. I loved the plush towels! Extremely friendly lady checked us in and gave us our breakfast for in the morning. I would absolutely recommend this fabulous, affordable little gem!

Why five stars? The owners are wonderful people. Hands on. It’s December 2015, needed a king size bed, with a view of the Nehalem River. They have a room with a 20 foot deck in front of it. Fridge, microwave, fireplace, great tv. A video room to borrow DVDs for the whole family. Snacks for free. Great service. Very clean! Stay here when you come to Wheeler. You will be very happy you chose this place to stay. It’s the best! Enjoy! Walking distance to restaurants, and Wheeler Station Antiques.

We’ve had friends and family stay here. The rooms are outstanding, so clean and plush! Pat and Tracy are incredible hosts– so warm and involved. They have answered every need and made for a terrific stay. This is THE place to stay in Wheeler.

Love, love, love this place did I say I love this placeits family owned just amazing people only about ten rooms very clean .they have there own dock so you can put your boat there or just walk down on the dock. they also have kayaks for you to use if you stay two or more nights it free. Free movies, candy, popcorn and soda also a full breakfast to take back to your room .

What a great accidental find! We are cruising down the Oregon Coast with 19 month old baby in tow. We accidently booked at the Wheeler on the Bay thinking it was in Tillamook.
It wasn’t, and they didn’t have a crib. But they put us in a great room to accommodate the baby. They are so pleasant and friendly. They made us feel welcome even before we saw the super cozy room. The room was awesome! And we even got to take some DVDs to the room for movie night:)

This really was a great place to stay, and quite a find! They are located on the bay side of Highway 101 — over the train tracks. We almost didn’t try them, and I’m SO glad we did.
What a quality find in Wheeler — the town where you might just drive through it hoping for something else. Don’t be fooled, this is really a GREAT place to stay.
Rooms are individually decorated, take time to look around either online or the owners will likely offer you a tour. The rooms are CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN — not kidding. One room even has a deep jacuzzi, and a private patio. Prices are incredibly reasonable, even in the summer.
The owners really take pride in their place, and it shows.

I wish we had more time for this place! The owners were so wonderful and extremely accommodating, and the room was absolutely spectacular! We booked one of the rooms with the jacuzzi tub and deck, and we were definitely not let down!
Wheeler is also in a great location for going to other spots to, if you don’t want to enjoy the free kayak and wine tasting that comes with a 2 night or more stay just yet, as Astoria isn’t too far away and the Tillamook Cheese Factory is just down the coast as well as many other beachside attractions.
The free movies and snacks were great, especially since we just visited the Goonies house, and they had two copies of it for all the Goonies out there!
I’m pretty good at finding great deals, but staying at this place really tops my list. I couldn’t possibly ask for more in a place to stay! If I’m ever on the Oregon Coast again, and I really hope that isn’t too far in the future, I will definitely be booking my stay at this place!
There is also plenty of tables and seating to relax on by the dock, so even if you don’t get a place with a private deck, that area seemed pretty peaceful and relaxing too.
No accommodations I’ve had in the past, including resorts, were as good as this place!

We had never been to Wheeler before and weren’t sure what to expect in such a small town but the Wheeler Lodge far exceeded our expectations. We could tell the owners really had pride of ownership. Lots of little extra details, room was super clean and comfortable. We stayed in the honeymoon suite which is an end unit on the river with its own deck — well worth the extra cost. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.

We LOVED our time at «Wheeler On The Bay Lodge and Marina»! We celebrated our 25^th wedding anniversary here for 2 nights. The owners, Tracy and her husband, were soo pleasant and accomodating! The room was spotless (room #10) and the location beautiful! We enjoyed a tandem kayak outing compliments of the lodge. One afternoon we enjoyed lunch on the picnic table on their private dock, where there are several choices of seating areas. The town of Wheeler is charming and there is no need to drive your car to get around town. Beautiful Oswald State Park and Manhattan Beach are within a few miles of the lodge. The owners went above and beyond, when we suddenly got an offer on our home that was for sale, and we had to ‘e-​sign’ some documents. We were having trouble signing on our iphones (nothing to do with the wifi there, which is great), so the owners allowed us on their personal computer to get these documents signed. Wow, above and beyond! We will definitely be back!

Charming rooms and location. We were driving down the coast and just randomly pulled over. Love when it works out that the rate is reasonable and the room is comfortable. The hosts were very friendly. They think of everything in making your stay comfortable.

Wonderful place to stay!
We loved this place; cozy, clean, safe, and all the amenities. What a beautiful little spot, right on the water. Great little coffee shop and bakery w/​in walking distance. Our room had all the touches; a nightlight/​flashlight in the bathroom, sink w/​small fridge and microwave, and even a small fan. Plenty of warm fresh bedding, a LED TV, and movies you could check out every night. The bed was AMAZINGLY comfortable, as were the fluffy pillows. Love this place! Very clean and well-​decorated, and the price can’t be beat. The hosts were really nice and very knowledgeable about the area. When we return to the Northern Oregon coast, this is the only place we’ll stay!

This is my absolute favorite hotel for so many reasons. To name a few: it’s affordable, usually easy to get a reservation, the rooms have a ton of character and charm, the owners are absolute sweethearts, free movies, free candy, breakfast and popcorn, and free kayak rentals. My family’s goal is to stay in each of their rooms. We can’t wait to go back. :)

A peaceful, charming, getaway.
We had a lovely time at Wheeler Bay Lodge. Our rooms were cozy & comfortable, the nature & views spectacular, and the activities were lots of fun. My husband and I liked being in the heart of this cute little town ! I loved the bay full of life! Seals, Cranes, sea birds, Salmon, & lots of dungeness crab. We enjoyed kayaking for the 1^st time ever. The instruction was very helpful, and the experience so much fun. We had a nice little park next door, and enjoyed walking through a town full of antique stores and had many nice meals over looking the water.
The inn keepers made us feel welcome, and went an extra mile to ensure a nice and memorable vacation.

What a wonderful place to stay! We would highly recommend this hotel to our friends and family. The view is magnificent and the room was nicely appointed. A great place to get away from it all!

Pleasantly surprised with the very clean and super friendly accommodations! Nice perks made us feel welcomed. Beautiful setting with outdoor seating by the dock, got to watch the fisherman boating, birds flying and rainbow colored sunsets. Includes wifi, breakfast and kayaking?! Yep! Would love to visit again!

This place is a gem! Randomly picked Wheeler lodge on the bay while traveling up the 101 on Oregon’s coast. Hospitality is off the charts, and the views are incredible. Highly recommend checking this place out. It’s beautiful rain or shine!
