Land Ocean New American Grill

We’ve passed by this place several times and didn’t think much of it since it was located in the mall, however, we decided to give it a shot after reading some good reviews. All I can say is this is now our go to spot for happy hour and we have grabbed dinner here as well. We’ve been very happy with our experiences at Land Ocean and will continue to dine and have a drink here.

Well… we went to lunch here this past weekend on a Saturday. We didn’t have to wait and we were seated fairly quickly. When we sat down, it was unseasonably warm! A restaurant that turns up their heat… great! Had to take off the sweater.
Well.on to the food. We ordered the beer battered fish & chips and the lavish burger, which happened to be kobe beef.
Let’s start with the fish and chips. The fish was oily and lacked flavor. Ever heard of salt? The chips, which were the fries were NOT CRISPY. Ever heard of soggy fries? Yeh. they’re called mashed potatoes.
On to the lavish burger. This sound great on the menu! On plate, it was a poorly constructed hamburger, where I don’t know why they call it KOBE when the beef was NOT soft at all. It tasted worse than just a regular burger patty. It came with fries and low and behold was also soggy.
The waiter was nice and courteous. The meal itself was not good at all.
Sorry, won’t be coming here again. Nothing good about this place at all.

Our first time here. Was seated immediately. The cocktails are delicious. We had the Shrimp tempura, Thai chicken rolls & the blackened salmon. All were just perfect. Guest services simply great. They kept checking with us without being intrusive. Glasses were refilled & he kept bringing in fresh bread ! Would definitely return in the near future.

Came in on a Sunday evening. First and foremost, we had reservations but we still had to wait for our seats for about 10minutes. There are NO extra benches outside of the restaurant so the 6 of us squeezed on the bench in front of Fast Fix Watch repair.
You have to ask for the bread as other Unilocalers have mentioned! The servers will not bring up bread at all unless you request it!
We had calamari for appetizers and it was brought out in about 10 or 15 minutes. They have a different taste to their calamari although it was crunchy and crispy with lots of flavor. Ask for lemons!
For my dinner, I ordered blackened salmon which was extraordinary to my surprise. From other family members, the steaks (Surf and Turf, Teriyaki Top Sirloin and The Land Ocean) were all very delicious as well.
The only reason why I took off 2 stars was for the discreteness in serving complimentary bread, lack of seating while waiting to be seated, customer service was far below average, and the tables were incredibly small for groups any larger than 2. The booths were more spacious but when we looked at the table, we knew that was an instant problem. Our tables were 3 tables put together but we could have used 4 in order to actually eat comfortably. Our server was quick to serve us but she was not as outgoing or caring for the restaurant environment. She checked up on us but it was awkward each time she checked up on us. Also, when the food was served 55 minute wait by the way!!! The servers who served our food had all of our orders messed up which I was very kind about because they didn’t take our orders but our server was nowhere to be found when the food was being served. I don’t think I would come back any time soon since I can get good steaks and salmon just about anywhere else with good customer service. I’m hoping management picks up on customer service because the food there is actually good but for the price paid, I was uncomfortable and there were too many flaws in my visit.

I don’t recommend the service but food is okay.
What upsets me was the dimming lights while eating and it took 15minutes to correct the problem and the manager didn’t care of what had happened. Our waitress ignored my concern of why the lights were turned off. Ass of Service!

I’ll start by saying that the bar staff is tremendous. The girls behind the bar are beyond friendly and are my number one reason for keep coming back to this restaurant. The food is good and the happy hour specials are amazing. If you haven’t already, give LO a try. You won’t be disappointed.

Today was the second time I have tried LO. I decided that I needed to give another chance and my husband asked if I wanted to meet him there for lunch. This rating is for that visit. But first, let’s go back in time…
So, one Saturday while shopping I decided to stop for lunch in the bar, at the bar. I was given a menu right away, then… crickets. Many people were moving about while I was sitting there with a menu, looking right at them… nothing. Perhaps it was the totally pretentious woman sending items back that threw them off, but me and others were basically kicked to the curb.
Today was much better. Server greeted right away. Got the drinks and also the requested water.
The food took longer than I would have thought at 1:30 on a Tuesday. (Not everyone is off shopping, needed to go back to work!)

I had the rotisserie chicken salad that includes pineapple and other tasty stuff! The chicken is actually flavorful and I would have this salad again!
Hubby enjoyed the rotisserie chicken sandwich and said it was great, bread good, salad fresh and tasty.
So, we will go back!

I’ve had both dinner and lunch at Land Ocean. Both were great experiences with attentive wait staff and absolutely delicious food. The bread they offer with your meal is fresh and warm — nice crunchy crust and soft and warm inside, along with butter — I could have just eaten this as a meal by itself. The blackened salmon with mango salsa, sautéed spinach and cilantro rice was so good, I practically licked the plate clean. Seriously, there was hardly a morsel of food left on my plate! The salmon was cooked to absolute perfection, moist and tender on the inside and with a perfect yummy kinda crunch (that comes from the blackening) on the outside. My dining companion had the «lighter fare» special of the day — trout almondine with green beans and potatoes — which purportedly came in at just 400 calories. I had a nibble of it and find it hard to believe this 400 calorie claim but I’m all for erring on the side of taste rather than quibble over a few extra calories!
The entrees were a bit pricey for lunch — $ 18 for the salmon and $ 19.50 for the trout — so this isn’t someplace I would visit frequently for lunch. It’s definitely a «special treat» kind of place for me.
As for the service, the food server today (shout out to Michael) was excellent. He was attentive without being bothersome and anticipated our every need. It is always (sadly) remarkable to find skilled wait staff these days; good service will always stand out for me — as much as the good food — as a reason to give a restaurant 5 stars.

Tried The Dip sandwich and calamari. The calamari was sent back because it was burnt and greasy. The second attempt produced a uniform brown color that was pleasing to the eye. That was the only pleasing part of it. It came on a bed of lettuce and was filled with onion rings and bell pepper that was fried to look like calamari and none of it was good. So limp and flavorless, we could not eat it. The Dip sandwich was tasty but greasy. French fries were not edible. Overall a very big disappointment for first impressions. Will not return for a second time.

Hostess sat us early and was very helpful. Although the first seat she tried to sit us at was not clean on the bench. Full of hair and crumbs. Gross. So we sat somewhere else. Justin was our server and he was phenomenal. Checked on us often, had great recommendations, friendly and attentive. All servers who passed by got me water and cleared dirty plates. Nice team work! I had the artichoke and a salmon blt with a side salad. My daughter had a grilled cheese with apples. I was surprised they only gave her like ¼th of an apple if that. Food was amazing. Nice wine selection. I also noticed an employee who was a cocktail waitress who was half dressed. Boobs hanging out and skirt almost showed her butt. I get the bar side is more fancy I guess, but it was just tacky. A nice restaurant should have fun but professional staff. Anyway, will be back! Need to try the french dip!

Well let’s say that the restaurant looks very appealing on the outside looks really nice décor fire outside to keep the patio heated inside nice tables
Being my first time here we stuck with things you can’t ruin my husband got a roast beef sandwich and I got a burger
I took off a star because on the menu it says bread and butter served upon request. So I requested it just to try it out see what’s up lol. Let’s just say I got the dirtiest look from the waiter like I did something wrong by requesting it haha I was like wow ok
We waited quite a while for our simple dinners and we got got French fries. My fries were great but my husbands looked old and refried we had to request more
The bread on the sandwich was rock solid and had to soak it in that au jeu sauce to even tear a bite off of it. Lol too bad that sauce was so salty
Besides that the burger was great
Umm haven’t decided if I wanna go back yet and get one of their steaks it sounds tempting but if they even make a simple roast beef dip how can I trust them to make a good steak?

Decent happy hour menu. I recommend the chicken skewers. Best bang for your buck. Mostly blue hairs in attendance though. We’ll go back, but we’re not in a big hurry.

A new restaurant in the Roseville Galleria so we decided to try it… and boy were we disappointed. The ambience was nice with calm pictures on the wall. The food was good (not bowl me over great… but good) but the service was very bad.
Our iced teas went dry, the server told us he would bring refills twice but did not. He had someone else do it. I also asked for additional gravy for my mashed potatoes. Again he said he would bring it but never did. I ended up eating what I felt was DRY mashed potatoes. We also split a side of Mac and Cheese. It was good but was seriously lacking the cheese.
They didn’t make a very good impression and needless to say we don’t intend on returning anytime soon.

Had the Tuna it was ok. Rice was hard but I think that’s how it’s suppose to be. They give blueberry muffins and chocolate muffins and bread while you wait. Cheese bread was good.

Well, the food gets 3. But speed and service get a 2. So average is 2. We sat at 1:58 and didn’t get our food until 2:40. Pretty disappointed given that the restaurant is nearly empty. We are here now, eating. The food came minus my husband’s french fries. «Sorry they are coming»… ok incomplete meal. Fries came out 5 min later. Wouldn’t be a big deal but we already waited 40 min for the rest of it. 25 min to get my side salad… excessive. lunch isn’t the time to «dine «we were hoping to have a normal length lunch. Surf and term tastes great, but my.“medium rare» steak came out extremely rare. Burger is good. My son likes his rotisserie chicken meal. But not sure I will come back if the service is lagging this much, and steak was a undercooked and chewy. I will finish this when i leave…
Ok, we left. He removed the steak as he could see how undercooked it was. He was nice enough about it and didn’t give me a hard time. But also, given that I work in the restaurant industry I was surprised he didn’t send over the manager to make sure we were happy upon leaving. I was going to give a 3, but now after thinking about the long delay, undercooked steak, and no involvement from management to just say «hi» and apologize, I am going to give a 2. We also decided if we came back we would sit at the bar for drinks… probably not eat. The ambiance is nice. the place does have potential

Ahi Poke with mango is delicious and the wine selection is very good (cab please). The steak Asian salad is my favorite (medium rare) and lady likes fitness special (usually). Try oysters half shell or beef Wellington for appetizer. Great business lunch or make it your relaxing afternoon spot. Try it

Came in for a super quick happy hour meal. Tried the wellington, kobe slider, and onion rings. It was quite delicious and amazing service. The bar is cozy and isn’t flooded with televisions. Can’t wait to actually have dinner service :) the menu was quite substantial.

Bad. Food is on par with Chilli’s. Weird sitting in the mall spending over $ 100 on happy hour. Jalapeño martini is worth a try. Servers seem like Red Robin rejects. Lots of them just standing around talking to each other. No silverware. No service. Odd. They’ve been open a month. I expect some quick changes or Cheesecake Factory next door will happily welcome back its regs that ventured for a taste next door. I hope it works out. Décor is nice.

Stop by for late lunch ! It’s was good. My chicken was tasty ! Will be back for dinner.

My wife and I ate here on Saturday night as a date night. We will be back for sure–
Pros: food tastes, food selection, drink choices, good portions, décor (modern feel), nice outside and inside seating, friendly staff.
Cons: parking a bit challenging on Sat 530pm, may not be a great place for small kids, although I did see a few there.
