It seems like they have invested more in creating a modern/hipsterish aesthetic than the quality of their food. Walking in, I expected the food to measure up to the décor. I ordered waffles and fresh fruit. When the plate came, I was really underwhelmed. The portion was small and for fruit, I got apples and watermelon. I never thought apples and watermelon would go with waffles, but ok. My boyfriend ordered chicken and waffles and got one piece of chicken to go with his waffles. For the price and the atmosphere, I expected a little more. The other plates looked decent, however. Just don’t order waffles. We were seated by the window. It was open and huge wafts of air came through, blowing away our napkins. We asked a server for some and she never came back with any. All In all, It was a mediocre experience.

Another fine meal last night at Redd’s. Hush puppies with a hot onion-bacon spread for a starter and the fried chicken in curry sauce meal were wonderful. The Stone Best by 4th of July was the beer special. Service is friendly and attentive. Just great!

What a great gem in the heart of Roslindale village. Such great food, excellent, knowledgeable, and kind staff, and a very comfortable atmosphere. The menu is American Southern-ish with every detail considered. I’ve been here a few times already and have not been disappointed. They always have some cool drink special that is unique and fun. To conclude, places like this remind me that you can enjoy great culinary experiences with out having to be right in the heart of the city.

I had brunch here. Wow! It was great. I think they might have the best Bloody Marys in the city of Boston(replete with their own homemade pickles). It’s a southern inspired brunch with hush puppies, biscuits, waffles and punch. We had the fried avocado ant it was just plain awesome. Had the Claxico omelette also and it was really good! Haven’t had a chance to eat dinner here yet, but I imagine it’s great. On the down side, service is slow and disorganized. They miss basic things like bringing out app plates so you can share your apps. Of course we had to ask for the check after our waiter disappeared for 20 minutes :(But I will still go back.

I’ve had the weekend brunch here several times. It’s always great and I highly recommend the drive to Roslindale. On the weekend at least, you can park on the street or in the BoA parking around the corner. The only main drawback, on the weekend at least is longer wait times(about 30 mins), and slow service(today, 15 minutes until appetizer came out, and another 15 – 20 until main dishes did). But the food is pretty stellar. They have staples(biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwich, the Haymaker — bf sandwich with all the fixings plus fried chicken breast), and a rotating menu of omelettes, eggs benedict, and other specials. Today, we devoured the Simon and Garfunkel omelette(cauliflower, capers, red onion and goat cheese) and the Southern Jewish Deli eggs benedict(lox and trout, capers, pickled onions, poached eggs and hollandaise on English muffin). The hush puppies are an amazing appetizer, with a side of bacon jam. Yes, really. As someone who relocated from the South and misses all the side dishes that come with southern food, I stand by these hush puppies. Crispy on the outside, the right balance of firm and soft in the middle, with a touch of salt. For brunch drinks, their Bloody Mary is a solid choice. Nothing too fancy about it, but it’s made well. The brunch punch is made daily, but is way overpriced for the teacup’s worth you get. The décor is standard Americana, but the service stands out.

Hubby and I came here for dinner with a few of our friends on bingo night. It was our first time here as we rarely travel to Roslindale. The restaurant has a bar with TV’s and dining area. Luckily we made a reservation as it was a full house that night. It’s eclectic with a very chill vibe. We liked it, but may not be for everyone. The food was really good. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and I ordered the Kim Jong Yummy(their dishes had playful names which I loved!) which is essentially a burger with kimchee on it. It was very delicious. Hubby ordered a fish sandwich(can’t remember the name of his dish) which he also thoroughly enjoyed too. The offerings are very creative and no one at our table had any complaints about their choices. A couple of our friends won bingo that night and took home a jar of pickles. Had a great time with great food and friends.

This was my first trip to Reds and it was fairly underwhelming. I ordered the hash which is not actually hash but instead a conglomeration of huge chunks of pork dumped over large fried potatoes. The service was average and the server was inattentive overall I would skip it.

We are regulars and feel a very strong sense of loyalty to Redd’s, but that being said, what a lucky neighborhood to have a place like this. Love the food, love the change over of a solid menu, great cocktails selection and the staff, while sometimes a little inconsistent, is friendly and attentive. The paella is a great go to, as is the simple salad when it’s in season. Thank you to the chef/owner for what he brings to Rozzie with this little neighborhood place with comfort/high quality food that is a great spot for both families and those without kids. Kudos.

Stopped in this past Sunday for some dinner and drinks. I unfortunately was so stuffed after coming from a birthday party previously, that I didn’t eat a whole lot but the rest of my group loved their dishes. Everything looked SO good. The cocktails were delicious and were made by our very attentive waitress. The rest of the staff was super nice as well. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Went here for dinner with a friend. The restaurant is small. The seating is a little tight… felt like we were having dinner with the table next to us. We got a fig drink that was ok. I got a burger that was good. It’s a nice place to check out if you live around the area.

I have loved this place since we moved to Rozzie about 3 years ago. Yummy drinks, awesome burgers, and their New Year’s Eve party for families is a must for folks w little ones. Sticky buns to die for, and the chef is one of the nicest guys in the neighborhood. Many cheers and high fives to Redd and the best staff ever!

The food was great. My fiancé and I went in for a quick bite and we will be coming back. It’s a nice small place but cozy and the customer service was great. The appetizers were good and the Clams OMG get them if you love it spicy. I don’t normally eat clams but I ate half of my girls plate. The burger I had was great. My fiancé loved her pulled pork sandwich. Love finding places like this.

Redd’s is a local stomping ground for me. I work in Roslindale and love to drink beer. My colleagues and I keep a watch on facebook to see when the next great beer is getting tapped here. I have had Heady topper, Maine Lunch and Dinner, Green Flash, Ommengang, Hill Farmstead… all here(not all the time). The food is good and creative as well. It’s a great place to get a bite, have dinner, have an app at the bar. If you’re a big fan of Pork(which I am) you will be interested in the«Pork Project» where the chef, Charlie, does something weird and creative with a whole pig. I am not much of a brains, intestines, pâté fan. But if you are, the Charcuterie board will be amazing. The food here is solid and consistent. The wait staff are chill and down to Earth. The beer is delicious.

We went here for Octoberfest and it was worth it. The atmosphere was spectacular with a nice comfortable feeling. The food is fresh and has some passion. The menu for octoberfest was authentic down to the homemade sausages. We will make this our go to pkace. Good job to the owner.

Oh man. Hands down best restaurant in Roslindale square! Super creative menu– their pickle plate is heaven. They use local, in-season ingredients– and serve classics with an upgrade.

Delicious food, down-to-earth and friendly service, good drinks, really nice garden seating for warmer weather — not sure how you can go wrong! The kale salad and the paella are both winners — I’d order either one in a heartbeat, although plenty of other items on the menu sounded tempting!
