Michael – The Computer Guy

ORIGINAL REVIEW — 9÷28÷3015:
I brought in an iPhone6 for a screen replacement to Michael. First off, I had to bring it to his home, which I guess he works out off. I actually never saw Michael in person but dropped the phone off with his daughter and when I picked it up, his mother gave it back to me. This was after having to wait about a week for him the get the replacement screen. The repair itself took an afternoon of not having my phone. All of that was fine, and I paid with PayPal and off I went.
I noticed that I couldn’t view my iPhone screen after the repair with my polarized sunglasses. Upon inquiring about this, Michael suggested I get non-​polarized glasses (really??!). Also, Siri decided she no longer could hear me, but I thought maybe that was due to some other issue. After a couple of months in this condition, I finally decided to call Michael to ask about this. After a few tries to call, never catching Michael on the phone, I finally left a voicemail. Never got a call back (ever), so I texted Michael what my issues were. He responded several days later. During that time, I brought my phone to another local repair shop and they told me that the screen was defective and I should get it covered under warranty from the previous repairer. I told them that his solution was for me to get non-​polarized glasses. At this time, I was unaware they the Siri issue was related to the repair Michael had performed. I finally relented and paid $ 140 for screen repair at the local iPhone shop and they fixed the Siri issue for me for free stating that it wasn’t properly reconnected from Michaels botched repair attempt.
Finally I heard back from Michael, and he offered to refund me his labor fee of $ 40, and offered nothing for the defective part. I paid Michael $ 120 something dollars for this repair, only to have to go pay that and then some for the repairs that Michael didn’t do properly. At the very least, I expected a full refund, not suggestions to change my sunglasses to non-​polarized lenses and only a partial refund offer.
I’m writing this Unilocal!Review because I have still NOT even received the partial refund offered of $ 40 and I also chose to use Michael based in his 5 star Unilocal rating, which I feel is misleading. So this review is for those that would select Michael based on Unilocal!Rating. I would not recommend Michael for any iPhone repairs, or any where you might want a general warranty or any type of timely communication at any point along the way.

UPDATE — 10÷6÷2015:
Michael finally got back to me and process the $ 40 refund. He asked me if I had the originally replaced screen that allegedly defective to see if he could get a refund on it, but I don’t have the part from the vendor I had do the repairs. Michael also offered an apology as well. I appreciated the follow up.

I’ve been working with Michael for several years and he always comes through for our office. His expertise, professionalism, and pleasant demeanor make him an asset to our practice. I highly recommend him without reservations.

There is no doubt Michael is the best computer repair «guy» in the central Texas area. I was at a loss with BOTH of my computers. He made me feel at ease leaving them with him as I was greatly concerned about losing my pictures and iTunes music. He stayed in constant communication with me and kept me informed on what was wrong with each PC and how much it would cost to repair. I lost NOT one single photo or iTunes. I am so appreciative of his expertise and professionalism that I will never seek help elsewhere. THANK YOU, Michael!

Michael came to our place of business yesterday to address some computer and network issues. We were having issues with our satellite computers being able to communicate with the server. He was able to resolve everything on our list and then some. It took him 2 hours to 100% resolve our issues. And he was reasonably priced. I’ll be honest, we tried multiple times to solve things on our own and we wasted a lot of man hours. Michael saved the business a ton of money in just 2 hours. He will be the guy I call when computer issues come up again.

Many thanks to Michael, The Computer Guy, for rescuing our two computers that went dark almost simultaneously. Michael was able to remove malware and bring our computers back to working order. All files were safe and all viruses were removed. We are very happy to have found someone so capable, reasonable and quick to help us with our computer needs.

I needed a screen repaired on my iPhone 4. Michael was close by and able to order the necessary parts and repair within just a few days, even though it was over a holiday weekend. Will definitely use again in the future.
