A Chat with The Dojo
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We teach people of all ages how to manifest the qualities of the martial arts outside of the martial-art school and in their everyday lives. [We teach] self-defense, focus, self-control, confidence, respect, self-discipline, perseverance, fitness, and leadership. The Dojo is professional and safe.
Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged?
When you affirm someone’s worth and potential so clearly they come to see it in themselves, this is leadership. We teach through inspiration not through intimidation. Everyone has some unique talent and gift, and by creating the right environment, one finds his or her voice. Martial arts is an act of discovery.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The martial arts we practice are thousands of years old. Our school is celebrating its 40th year. I started as a student, and now 30 years later I continue the legacy my teachers have passed on to me. My passion for helping children and adults evolve through the martial arts started my journey to teach.
