AGS Tile & Stone

Truly «as good as it gets!». My wife and I used AGS for our master bathroom remodel and we could’t be happier. Ryan stuck to the budget and had the work done when promised. There were a few surprises once we tore into the walls and floor, but that didn’t trip up Ryan and his crew, they adapted and moved on.

We used AGS Tile and Stone for our recent remodel. I absolutely love the results. I will definitely refer them.

We just completed a major master bath remodel that included a steam shower, soaking tub, marble flooring, and subway tile four feet up the walls; lots of tile work! AGS Tile did a fantastic job for us. Owner Ryan Wagner was great to work with; he promptly returned any calls or text messages, kept to the budget and bid, and easily adapted to my design changes during the project.
Tiler Jose was an excellent craftsman and Anthony was great; never complaining about the numerous trips up and down the stairs for each tile cut! (AGS also did my kitchen and half bath remodel previously – both outstanding. Miguel fabricated the marble slab work on both kitchen and master bath projects – beautiful work!)
We would definitely highly recommend AGS Tile & Stone for any tile or slab work you want done in a beautiful magazine quality manner!

AGS Tile & Stone did an outstanding job on our bathroom remodel. Ryan (the owner) was a huge help in not only answering our question but solving some structural problems as well. The price quoted was reasonable and Ryan even gave me the opportunity to do some of the demo myself there by bringing down the price. His crew was professional, respectful, on time and even cleaned up after themselves each day. The job ended on schedule and overall the entire process was superb. If I could, I’d give this place more than 5 stars! We are now in the process of having him do more work on our kitchen.

Prepare to be over-​priced, over-​promised, and under-​delivered.
The owner, Ryan, is very personable and friendly. Although we received three lower bids from other contractors, we picked AGS because we thought he would do a better job than others based on his very cool design ideas, knowledge of 1950s homes, and all-​around charming personality.
It started out great. Ryan arrived at our home on the morning of the first day directing his guys, but left after about 10 minutes and never came back again. His guys ran out of the stone we provided for the diagonally-​laid floor early on. Ryan called to say we needed six more tiles which his guys would find and fabricate to our size (i.e. cut off a few inches and soften two sides). He ended up charging us $ 75 per tile for this. I called the tile store from which they purchased these tiles and was told they sold for $ 15 each…
I was sure that there was more than enough stone for the floor (Ryan had said so himself before the project started). When I did some looking around after the fact, I found that there were about a dozen stone tiles which had been cut into half and then hidden in our garbage. It appears they pre-​cut too many pieces and didn’t have any more whole ones to finish the project…
Once the tile was grouted, I was really concerned about a lot of crooked and uneven tile. The white shower wall tile was uneven in several spots, but what really had me worried was the detail stone which was obviously crooked. My dad is a general contractor, but lives 3 hours away. I took pictures and emailed them to him. He thought the crooked tiles looked terrible and said AGS needed to fix it. (Incidentally, he later sent the pictures on to his tile guy who said he would have fired everyone on the project.) My dad warned me that if Ryan said anything about «industry standard» regarding the crooked tile, we were being worked over.
I emailed the crooked detail photos to Ryan who quickly quoted ¹⁄₁₆ inch variances as «industry standard» and basically told me I was being too picky, but agreed to send someone back to fix it. After the fix was still crooked, he sent his foreman over who did a good job (third time’s a charm, right?).
After working a second job for three months to pay for this project, I was so disappointed with the quality of the outcome, Ryan’s dismissive attitiude, and the hugely inflated cost of the additional purchased tiles. Ryan is an excellent salesperson and seemed like a nice guy, but he did us wrong in this transaction.

AGS Tile just completed a complete re-​do of my tub and shower surround in my only bathroom in our 1955 house. Prior to their arrival, the tile was four different colors, falling off the wall (partly due to the previous owner’s use of plywood as a backer to the tile!).
I requested AGS permit me and hubby to do the demo of the old tile, to save some money. No problem. Owner, Ryan Wagner, was friendly, knowledable and timely.
I was quoted $ 1300 for installation of greenrock over the bare studs, a floated mortar base, white 6X6 tile and grout with all materials included. As a bonus, Ryan had some glass tile left over from another job that matched our wall paint and threw that into the deal. Going that extra mile is not lost on me. Another extra mile, hubby and I had questions Saturday and Sunday before the Monday start day. Ryan called us back right away. That’s customer service.
Ryan’s employees, Dan and Vinny arrived exactly on time Monday morning to begin work. They were both very friendly (spoke English, a plus) and were also very knowledgable. They answered all my million questions with a smile. After day one, all of the mortar was up as promised. They left my bathroom cleaner than they found it, even though they were coming back the next day to do more work.
Day two and all of the tile was expertly laid. Even with the added challenge of a 53 year old tub that was not at all level. Day three mid-​day and all of the grout was done and I couldn’t be happier with the result. It is hard to find a contractor service that sticks to estimates, both cost and time, so accurately.
I highly recommend AGS for all your tile needs.
