I came here with a friend for the warehouse book sale. The used books consisted of library books or donated books. There was a lot to choose from and the books were well organized. Books were between $ 1-$ 2 and on top of that you get a 10% discount if you’re a teacher.

An expansive warehouse of books – really inexpensive compared to local used book stores. Books are in like new to very good condition. There is a good sized children’s book section for picture books, fiction and nonfiction for older children, with a diverse selection of cultures represented in their characters and protagonists. We picked up some as birthday gifts for my nephew, a friend and added to our own growing home library some children’s books, adult fiction, a book of poetry and some nonfiction…13 books(at $ 1 – 3) or $ 27. They have other collected works or classics are higher price points too. It is always nice to breathe new life on something old and loved before. Will come back and check out future Friends of the Public Library sales. My two kids had fun sitting at a reading table, leafing through books. Go!

I’ve only been here once, but would highly recommend. They have rooms and rooms of well-organized and inexpensive used books of all categories. All the volunteers that work here are extremely friendly and helpful.

Its a great place to browse for very cheaply priced books. To reduce the never ending inventory, they have $ 6 dollar per bag of books sales(watch for them) — thier are to many things to read!!! Limited hours — Credit cards are okay.

Hardback Books for a $ 1? Children’s books for $ 1? The Book Den Book Store, owned and operated by the volunteers of the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library is the place to shop for everyone. They have rare books, current titles, Children’s Books, audio books, history, art, comic books, you name it they have it including very friendly volunteers willing to assist you. They even have Gift Certificates. Ask them for a tour of the Warehouse where they have 6 week-end sales a year and over 100,000 books, VHS movies, records, CD’s, Audio Books… go on sale from $ 2 to fifty cents. They also have a January bag sale where all the books in the Warehouse are $ 6 a bag. They now have added a parking lot bag sale at each sale by setting up shelves outside. They sell books online at Amazon, ABE Books and eBay and at times during the year you can find them selling books at the Sacramento Antiquarian Book Sale, The Zoo and Fairytale Town. They get donations from private collections, book stores that have closed, dealers who have a surplus of stock and the Library. If asked they have even been known to sell the decorations around the store. Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 2 pm this is really a treasure for Sacramento. They accept book, record, magazine, comics, movie donations during store hours and on Wednesday from 9 am to Noon. While located in the Industrial Area(look for The Book Den sign on Belvedere) there is close by Freeway access and is central to Sacramento County. Less than a mile down Power Inn Road is The Squeeze Inn, I Love Teriyaki and Subway restaurants. To find out about Warehouse Sales check out the Friends webpage at

Books and old people, two things that go hand in hand. The Book Den is a massive warehouse loaded with every genre book you could imagine for a very reasonable price. Books range from $ 1 – 5. It’s massive! The staff consists of a lot of elderly people. Though they are old, they are absolutely knowledgable and had no problem steering me in the right direction. I came here specifically for children’s books. I stumbled across a few outdated classics, still in excellent condition. I was so overwhelmed by all the books to choose from I promised myself and my child that we would return again soon. The Book Den is very well organized and the staff is friendly and approachable.

This is a hidden gem in our community! I live about 3 miles away and just recently ‘discovered’ it through an announcement in the newspaper. The Book Den has plenty of books for all kinds of interests. The books are well organized. They also have some rare books on sale at a amazon shop. Even less well known might be their warehouse sales, where nothing is more than a few dollars. See the photo for the dates to those sales. Wish they’d post those dates online! Even crazier is their bag sales, where you load up a paper grocery bag of books for $ 6 per bag! I went to a warehouse sale and saw a huge selection of children’s books. They were arranged by ages and even some by topic. Very nice! If you sign up and become a ‘friend’ of the Sac Library, you get additional discounts shopping at the Book Den.

Great books indeed. One of the older women working here told me that she gets paid in book credit and when she passes she is leaving all of her library to the Den. Thats dedication.

This is an amazing bookstore that benefits the library and is run by volunteers. Please support the library and get awesome books for reasonable prices. I just picked up the new Steve Martin and Edwidge Danticat hardcovers for $ 5 each. This is an out of the way site and takes some planning, as it is not anywhere near midtown!

One of Sacramento’s best surprises, The Book Den is too often overlooked as an excellent source of quality books, DVDs, and books on tape and CDs at astonishingly low prices. From best sellers to collectables, plus everything in-between, it’s a wonderful resource for students, parents, gift-buyers and bibliophiles of every interest area. Entirely run by dedicated and friendly volunteers, Book Den profits benefit the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library, which in turn helps keep our local libraries open and offering fine programs. Don’t miss their annual bag sale — $ 6 per bag full of whatever you can fit into it – the first weekend in January. Warehouse sales — $ 2 or less per item — take place throughout the year — up-to-date details at . As of this writing, regular store hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9 am — 2 pm. Bring in your old books and movies to donate and take a tax deduction.

I went to their last sale a few weeks ago… fill a paper bag(provided and VERY large) with books. Cost 6BUCKS! I filled two bags and got several books I had been interested in, but never wanted to pay full price for. To top it off… THEYWEREALLHARDCOVER! The sale is located in a very industrial area with lots of storefront churches and homeless people nearby. I would definitely lock my car and not leave any valuable showing. Because of the ‘closeness’ of the aisles in the warehouse, I wouldn’t bring any small children or strollers. Otherwise, an excellent sale and I plan to go to the next one in April!

A wonderful bookstore hidden away in a warehouse area. The books are in very nice condition, clean, the prices are quite low, and the staff is very helpful.

This place is a hidden gem. I’ve bought hundreds of books from here the last few years. The used books are in good shape and are priced well– much lower than you’d find at any used book store in town. Sign up for the Friends of the Library mailing list to get announcements re: their warehouse sales, which happen quarterly. The big sales are pretty well-organized and books are $ 2 or less.
