I have been a fan of this place in the past, but my opinion has changed. First of all — this is not a Moroccan restaurant, so I’m not sure why it’s called that. They had one Moroccan dish and the rest was middle-eastern food(and the couscous was, I think, maybe Lebanese style?). Second: 51 minutes from ordering to getting our food. Food was partly cold, given that the chef spent most of his time chatting with the waitress rather than cooking. The waitress was very nice, and some of the food was decent(the tabouleh was especially good), but overall it was extremely lackluster; the canned dolmathes(with the ridges from the metal can they had been in still visible) were mediocre, the lack of garlic in the babaganoush was disappointing, and the pita was stale. The portions, too, were extremely small. I don’t think I’ll be back.

I always have amazing food from here. The staff is always very friendly and you can tell the waitress is working hard too. My only problem every time I come here is the wait for the food. Sometimes it’s a little too long, especially if you’re on a quick lunch break… even if you order 30 minutes ahead for ToGo orders… I’ve had to wait an additional 20 minutes for the food before.

Super delish. Every week, I used to go for lunch, with a friend, for soup and hummus with pita. It’s not true Moroccan, so if you want REAL Moroccan go to Casablanca, but it’s still delicious.

Today for lunch I had the beef kabob with rice, pita bread. The beef was a little on the tough side but it was still tasty. It didn’t really matter cuz I was hungry and I ate everything up. My wife had the lamb kabob with pita and salad. I should’ve ordered the lamb instead because it was so much more tender than my beef kabob after swiping a piece of lamb off her plate. I also ordered a side of hummus to dip my pita bread on. Man that hummus is the smoothest most flavorful I’ve ever had and a lot better than what I make at home. The waiter also offered me some spicy sauce that he had in the back. It made a huge difference. The beef taste even better. It had good flavor before but adding the hot paste on it made it more interesting. Overall our lunch was delicious and I will definitely come back and try the chicken sumac.

One of my favorite places to get Moroccan food. I’ve never been disappointed in the food here. It feels like a hole in the wall as you approach the restaurant, but it feels like you’re walking into a family business that prides themselves on good food. My favorite dishes: chicken sumac, lamb kabobs, chicken kabobs. Lamb tawok with extra garlic sauce. You really can’t fail with the dishes here. The rice is always fluffy, the pita is warm and crunchy in all the right places. The meat is tender, well cooked and perfectly seasoned. My mouth is drooling as I write this. The falafel is a little dry, but still good. Oh and the house hot sauce they have? Just drown your food in it. It is zesty and delicious if you like spicy! I think one of the downsides is the time it takes for the food to come out. I feel that they are either slow or cook everything to order without any short cuts in the back. The parking lot can get a bit crowded in this plaza, but street parking is reasonable to find.

My first time trying moroccan food and i was not disappointed one bit. Loved every dish they had! New experience and it gave me a wow feeling that i had to order more to-go to show it off to my family. Service was great as well! It’s so good that i crave it everyday now. Awesome place!

The chicken sumac is amazing! I love this place! The staff is really nice and helpful. It’s always really nice being here and they take care of you. The food is amazing. I have tried a few dishes here and I think the Chicken Sumac is probably my most favorite. I recently got the chance to try the Rich Man’s Bread. I have never had such a thing before! It was amazing. If you are up for some dessert try it! You won’t regret it!

As a foodie, I am disappointed that this was my first time trying Moroccan food. But I am definitely a fan! I discovered this sparkling gem while looking on Groupon. The picture of the food alone intrigued me and the raving reviews on Unilocal sold me on it. From the main road, you cannot see the Café Morrocco, just in the cluster of signs under the shopping center. The restaurant has beautiful pictures and Moroccan decorations. I ordered the Chicken Sumac which came with Pita bread(Rice can be substituted) Flavorful, savory and yummy. I also ordered a side of hummus. I’m not a hummus aficionado but I can say that this was THE Best hummus I have ever had! The service was excellent. There was only one server for the entire restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately. He made suggestions on what to order and made sure the Would I come back? Yes! One of my new favorite dining spots.

This place gets the upgrade. It is, in my opinion, the best lunch in Sacramento and a value at that. Perhaps as this family owned restaurant gets to know you, they just get better. Very friendly service, fantastic food and a real Middle Eastern feel. Even the plating, tea pots, and background music are solid. You must try!

The beef and chicken kabobs we had were cooked very nicely, tender and flavorful. The baba ganouche was excellent as well as the hummus. I wish their bread were more fresh. There was a very nice young lady dancing during dinner which was a nice touch.

We are currently on our way to Burning Man, and decided to stop here for take out. Staff was really cool, but took a while to get our food. I ordered the Doma, and Harira soup. VERY good! I did almost bust a tooth on an olive pit so watch out! I will definitely check this spot again next time I’m around!)’(

Reminds me of my travels to the Mideast! Split the chicken sumac and kefta kabob with my boyfriend and we loved every bite. We started of with the mezzeh # 1 which was a great sampling of dolma, falafel, hummus, and babaganoush. It’s such a hidden gem too! It sits behind another restaurant but be sure to stop in and check this place out. Super friendly staff and a beautiful ambience as well… They also have a belly dancer!

I usually enjoy hole-in-the-walls very much, but there’s something missing from this place. I’ve been there twice and left both times feeling like it was pretty lackluster. The food is good, but the menu items taste a little to similar to one another for my preference. The Chicken Sumac is pretty bomb, but don’t expect many other items to blow you away. If you get a side, try the house salad. That was actually my favorite menu item. Oh yeah, the baba ganoush is pretty good, too, but it needs to come with more bread. They usually have a deal on LivingSocial or Groupon, so try to track one of those down.

I love this lil place, small and awesome everything I’ve tried has tasted delicious. Baba ganooj was tasty but the lamb stole the show. Would recommend you try it all, I don’t think you’ll be sorry

Dear Café Morocco Management– I used to love your restaurant. But it’s clear, you no longer love your faithful customers. Tonight’s service was beyond unacceptable for the following reasons: 1. Your waitress was more interested in texting than in taking care of customers. 2. Your belly dancers decided the ONLY ladies room is their staging room and were not allowing female customers to use the bathroom. This is incredibly stupid on so many levels. 3. You no longer have a liquor license. Really? That’s not a good sign. 4. Our orders took over 30 minutes at a time when there were 2 tables seated.

I was here on New Years Eve, and to my suprise, it was pretty empty. It was nice having a quite and relaxed dinner with my friends and only a few others. The service was friendly and efficent(thank you waiter who’s name I didn’t get). I dug the deoor, the resturaunt itself is on the smaller side, which creates an intimate and cozy environment. You guys, their food here is absolutley increadible. Favors galore, all creating this intense happiness on my tongue. I took the recommendations of Unilocalers and went with the Chicken Sumac. I usually like to rebel when something is popular at a particular place, but I am so glad I went with the crowd on this one. I am in love. It’s chicken soaked in garlic and spices. It’s served on a giant pita and topped with a creamy sauce. It was accompanied by a really interesting and comforting tomato based soup, tabbouleh and hummus. I was so full by the time dinner was over, and only had room to eat half of it, but I wanted to keep going. When I woke up the next day, the left overs were the first thing I thought of. That’s how good it was, you guys! I didn’t wake up thinking, «wow, it’s a new year. A fresh start.» I woke up thinking, «WOOHOO! I can eat my left overs. Do I want them for breakfast or lunch?“I am obsessed over this dish, and I still am. We also started with hummus and stuff grape leaves. These both were the best I’ve had. Order it, eat it, and you will love it. For all this food, the prices could not be beat. When the bill came, I happily paid. Despite my food coma, I still ordered desert to go. The rich man’s bread(a kind of desert pudding) along with a baklava. Yes, I ordered two deserts. Don’t judge. I started this new year off right by coming here. I’m very excited to return here. This place is fantastic!

One of my favorite places to get Middle Eastern food ever! I’ve been going here for years and I’ve enjoyed my visit ever time. I’ve ordered about 3 dishes here entrée wise and every one of them is delicious. Shish kabob with lamb(4.5 stars): You can get the shish kabob combination dinner plate to get an appetizer, an entrée, a drink, and a dessert for 21 dollars which is an awesome deal. The shish kabob itself is well seasoned and the meat is flavorful, but the pieces are a little small. The kabob comes with some grilled onions and tomatoes which are okay. The rice is delicious here and the reddish sauce is a little sour, but interesting. I enjoy eating the rice, the red sauce, the meat, and the yogurt on the side all together because it’s just a burst of different flavors. Casablanca kabob with lamb(5 stars): Probably my favorite dish. It’s a purely meat dish which is one of my favorite kinds of dishes. The meat is well marinated in some sort of sauce that I can’t describe and it comes with a generous portion of pita and yogurt too. Lamb Tagine(4 stars): I liked this dish, which is a lamb stew with prunes and rice on the side. It’s not my favorite since I prefer the Casablanca, but the stew was well seasoned and the meat was tender, yet it still had texture. I avoided the prunes, because who likes prunes, but overall it’s a good dish if you like stew. Baba ganooj(5 stars): I can make this at home, but not nearly as good as Café Morocco. This is a dip like hummus, but instead of using garbanzo beans, baba ganooj uses eggplant. I think that Café Morocco smokes their eggplant on an open fire because I can’t get that smoky flavor in my baba ganooj and this is the perfect appetizer. Harira soup(4 stars): I love lentils, rice, and chickpeas and together this makes an awesome addition to your dinner. It’s a little sour, but I just enjoy it. Moroccan Mint Tea(5 stars): O.M.G. The perfect tea just for anything. I didn’t think I would like it since American mint tea is kind of gross, but the mint tea is so good! Just add a cube of sugar and it’s amazing. I love drinking this and it’s becoming a new addiction. Aish Essaraya or Rich man’s bread(5 stars): My favorite thing from this restaurant. It’s a white bread toasted and soaked with rose water, rich white custard cream on top and shaved pistachios. At first the description just sounded bleh to me. How I was so wrong. This is probably in my top 3 favorite desserts of all time. I just love the sweetness of the rose water, the richness of the cream, and the crunchiness of the pistachio. Awesome dessert to share or hog to oneself. Service(4 stars): They’re a little slow, but usually they only have one waiter who also acts as host and busboy so I’m cool with it. They’re very nice so no complaints here.

My husband and I have been here many times. We have taken food to go too. We came here with very close friends on a Tuesday around 5 pm. The place is not really big but there was four of us so it was perfect. We were the only customers at the time. I ordered the Tawuq kabob chicken for the first time. Our waiter suggested adding their creamy garlic sauce in addition to the BBQ sauce and it was perfect! I had a salad with my meal so I was only able to eat half my order. My husband ordered the mujadara chicken which was a ton of food! It was good though I enjoyed my dish better. My other friends ordered the Casablanca Kabob chicken which I normally order and the chicken tagine which looked more like a chicken stew; it looked yummy! I took home the Garlic chicken kabob for my daughter but it was too much for her to eat at one time. We hit this place at the right time plus the waiter was the best. He took care of us and was one of the best servers I have had in a long time! Eat at this restaurant and you can’t go wrong. My mouth is watering as I write this. You won’t leave hungry!
