Class Encounters the Reunion Company

Liars and cheats!
Hillsdale Class of 1961 Reunion ALMOST flopped. Class Encounters did not pay the hotel on time so we nearly lost our reservation. By contract, they owe us monies back for over-​estimation for cost of meals. After several attempts to contact them regarding this matter (with no response), we finally received a check from them which bounced. Since that time, they have stopped responding to any attempts to contact them. No response to multiple phone calls AND emails.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

They don’t pay their bills. They don’t answer emails or phone calls. Skipped out and now our class can’t have a reunion at the same venue.

DO NOT book your reunion with this company! The tickets ranged between $ 88-​$ 96 a ticket, depending on when you bought it, and was supposed to include a mediocre chicken dinner. What they neglected to tell us was that the price was contingent on there being 100 people signed up. So, there were maybe 4 – 5 plates of appetizers served. So, for $ 90, we got a huge banquet hall at a hotel, a crappy DJ, no open bar and no food. So, what exactly were we paying for? A nametag with our lovely high school yearbook photo on it. The day before, they sent an email saying that there was an open bar between the hours of 7 – 9 but it turns out that was false! Would’ve been better to save the money and just meet up at the hotel bar. What a waste of money and time.

It is a better idea to organize your own class reunion using a committee and volunteers. The tickets for our event were $ 90.00 for dinner and a bar with beer and wine. There was no cheaper option for people who did not drink alcohol. The event was held in a Lackluster banquet room at The Lake Natoma Inn and the food was less than mediocre and the staff was rude and unprofessional.
When I complained about sodas being $ 2.50 to the representatives of the company they told me that it was «supposed to be part of the contract». When I looked up the venue on Unilocal it has a 2.5 star rating! Why would you ever book an event at a place with such horrible reviews???
Then to add insult to injury the venue kicked us out at 11pm??? My best advice with the advent of social networking sites like Facebook is to use the web to find people and organize events. The companies out there don’t care to make the event memorable… for the price I paid I expected a gourmet meal and for the venue to be open to us until well after midnight.
So many of my classmates did not attend due to the price, just when we began to have fun we were tossed out on our ear! Our next reunion will be memorable because we will organize it ourselves. NEVER rely on a company to do it for you.
