H&R Block

I scheduled an appointment and arrived 5 minutes early. There was an Indian lady working behind the counter with a customer. I stood there for 10 minutes, she still didn’t acknowledge or greet me. She walked to the back got someone to help her and continued on as if I wasn’t there. Another lady emerged and saw me (I probably looked upset) and asked me if I’ve been helped. Finally some customer service. I said no! I explained I had an appointment I scheduled online with somebody named «Bang». He popped out of his cube in a quickness and said 10 minutes. I said ok and sat down. He was with a couple working on their taxes. Not long after (maybe 5 minutes) he ushered me to an empty cube to start on my taxes while he was waiting for the couple to get their crap together. He barely glanced at my w-​2 when the couple announced they were ready. I sat for about 5 – 10 more minutes and from the conversation of the couple I knew it would take a lot longer than 10 minutes. I left after wasting 25 minutes of my time there. I highly discourage anyone to go there. Setting an appointment won’t help and they don’t have a clue about customer service. Nobody apologized or showed any type of empathy. I will not be coming back. Highly disappointed in such a big name service.

If i could give this branch a negative 100 i would. I am a new divorcé who left an abusive marriage as my divorce is not final yet I had to muster up my courage and file with my husband still I told my tax rep Mrs. Kem to conceal my address from my ex and she agreed. She then handed over my new address over to my ex husband in print and my banking info so he could directly access all my money. I WILL NEVER BE BACK. She has now put me in a spot where I have to constantly look over my shoulder to make sure my ex abuser is not waiting for me at my home where i have a child at who is deathly afraid of her father. The people who work here have NO care for the people they are working with. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

About two months ago in February I had my taxes done at the Kiefer Blvd location. I am a student, and have had trouble filing with the American Tax Credit in the past so I figured that maybe H&R could assist me. I could not understand the lady who helped me, her accent was very thick. I had to correct her with multiple spelling errors and information regarding a tax credit for school. For students, they require a form that states the cost of tuition and expenses. This is very important, and could change your refund amount by hundreds of dollars. Well, I had to correct her when filling this information. SHE DID NOT EVEN ASK ME IF I HAD THE FORM! She checked «no» on the computer without asking me. If I had not caught this error this would have decreased my refund by about $ 300. After the forms were completed she stated that my refund would be $ 591. Last year I received $ 1100 back. So what could have possibly gone wrong? I was baffled. I tried asking questions but the lady helping me could not give me a straight answer. After my taxes were done I was originally going to be charged $ 181. WHAT? Last year I had more W2’s and the fee was SIGNIFICANTLY lower. Then, the lady said that I had some kind of credit? Where did the credit come from? No answer. So then I was charged $ 109. I left completely confused, unsure, and RIPPED OFF. So I went home and did my taxes on my own for free on a different program. You know what my refund was? $ 710. WHAT?! $ 710! That is quite a difference! So I called the office manager, and told her that I wanted my $ 109 back. She apologized, and told me to come to her other office, this particular location, where I would be helped immediately. I told her that I would be there in 15 minutes (the time it takes to drive there) which she said would not be a problem. So, 15 minutes later I arrive at this office, tell them my name, situation, and that Deborah said I would be helped ASAP. Nope. I waited for two hours before I was seen. The lady that helped me was nice, and we did figure out one of the problems. The first lady had forgotten one of my W2’s. However, we still had a disagreement with the American Tax Credit portion. The only reason I went back was to prove to them that they had made a mistake so that I could get my money back. After the second appointment I received a call from one of her employee’s that I would get refunded electronically into my account about two weeks later. The second voicemail I received said that I would get a check from their corporation in Kansas city. Well, I have been calling for the last TWO MONTHS trying to get my money back. I did receive a $ 30 credit in the mail, but not the $ 109 CHECK I was promised. I have received two voicemails from this manager in the last two months. I have tried calling back (I have school/​work) everyday so I told her that email would be a better way to communicate. No email, nothing. I am so frustrated with this manager. I will never return to H&R Block. Save your money, time, and effort and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Totally agree with Lily G. The fee is ridiculous! I was so close to leaving because the lady that was doing my taxes seemed unexperienced! I would ask her a question and then she would get up to ask another employee for the answer. After doing this several times I decided that we should just come back a different day and have someone with more experience do our taxes. The man that finally filed my taxes was more experienced and knew what he was doing. He gets 5 stars. H&R block gets zero for hiring the first lady that assisted me.

They charge WWAAAYYY too much money, and all they do is punch the numbers into the computer. Do yourself a favor and go to turbotax online, punch the numbers in your self and save about $ 180.
