We had scheduled a service with Jr Putnam for a Wednesday about a month in advance, no weekend appointment for whatever reason so I scheduled a day off of work to be at home for the service, they called the day before the scheduled service and cancelled because a retirement home had their ac gone out, completely understandable I gladly gave up my appointment to allow them to repair the senior home, that leads us to issue #1 our rescheduled service date was another week out, when we asked if there was anyway we could get an earlier appointment the lady on the phone really didn’t seem to care to help. The Saturday after Jr Putman was down the street servicing my neighbors ac! Literally 2 houses away. Issue #2 now a month and a week into attempting to get our ac fixed going into the second heat wave and the second scheduled day off of work for me, my appointment was scheduled for 10 – 12 the repair man showed up at 2 I had almost given up and went to the river to cool off. Issue #3 the technician looked at the ac system, just looked at it as in stared at the unit then the controller, and said the refrigerant is empty, he would not recharge it he insisted on finding the leak first which to do would cost $ 500 dollars to test, just test, not test and repair, then explained most likely it would be at least a thousand dollar repair. $ 500 dollars to find a leak??? Also he pushed their service plan like his job depended on it, I called the office and mentioned all of this the man on the phone stood behind all of the issues as if it were all completely normal and I had no right to be questioning them, he also pushed their service contract. Then we got on the topic of callers who mention their ac is completely out get priority over those who don’t, I suggest maybe that should be a question when a customer calls in, is your ac completely out or just mediocre he assured me they ask every time, well they sure didn’t ask me seeing that my earliest appointment was a month out then a week after that. After all this we still had to pay the $ 70 for the tech to come out and the headache that followed. I’ve since then called around and spoke to several local ac repair shops and all agreed $ 500 is ridiculous for leak diagnosis and mentioned the big companies pay their techs on a commission or flat rate basis so upselling is a major way of profit for the technician, good for them bad for the home owner. My experience with Jr Putman was horrible and I strongly suggest not using their service, go with an honest repair service. Lastly I just checked their website it advertises in big letters right up top $ 69 check and charge, MAJOR false advertisement the tech refused to charge my ac with out first finding the leak, even when I asked the man on the phone he said they cannot charge a system that may have a leak.

I was a little surprised to see some «1 stars» on Unilocal!I would highly recommend and rate them for their kind service, attention to detail and going beyond the normal work day to complete my job.
We had a new system placed in an older home — they had to cut in, run duct work, place the new unit on the roof. I am sure this is normal but the crew was friendly and stay late to complete.
Good group — would recommend for new units.

Service technician was timely, fast and friendly when our HVAC was acting erratic. Found and cleared a blockage. Called a second time for an unrelated problem and experienced the same high level of service. Tech walked me through everything he did as well as gave me advice on selecting a new thermostat. Bottom line, I trust this company. Not sure why they are rated so low on Unilocal.My unit is definitely reaching its end of useful life and I’ll be calling them when I’m ready to replace!

This company immedeately returned my call. Scheduled me for service the next day. Scheduled my appt for 5pm so I wouldnt have to leave work early. The tech was better than on time, he was waiting for me when I got home. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it on the spot. His name was Justin. Cost was better than I expected. He didnt try to upsell me or talk me into anything I didnt need. Overall the service was excellent. They now have a loyal customer.

I wonder if the service techs get paid extra for blaming fan motor failure on the homeowner. I could be wrong, but I don’t think insults and talking down to someone is a good way to try to get $ 1500 out of me. He also lied to me about needing a service plan for my equipment to be under warranty. Don’t blame something on me and then try to get me to join your service plan BS.
I ultimately had a local company fix my AC for $ 1000 less than I was quoted by JR. Part was indeed under warranty and I didn’t need any service plan to keep it that way. JR just wanted to charge me high prices for a whole new motor, when all it needed was a single part replaced.
Stay away.

This company would get zero stars if that was an option. They are prompt and courteous when they are selling you their products but good luck trying to get any help from them after that. Their so called warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on. Not to mention, they were supposed to be here between 8 – 10 and showed up at 11:15 (with no apology)
The service tech that came out said he wasn’t able to figure out how to fix the problem so he advised me to call the manager, Bill, after several messages for Bill I finally called again and reached him. He sets me up for an appointment in 6 weeks! Apparently that’s the earliest he could find a tech to come out again.
Save your self 10k and a huge headache by calling some one else first.

I’m careful about selecting vendors. I had 3 different estimates who all had different ways to clean air-​ducts. One was going to charge $ 700 for a sophisticated new way of creating negative suction. Another was going to charge $ 600 for creating reverse 2-​way suction. But my boyfriend was not convinced that settled and build-​up would be cleaned effectively without a roto-​brush.
So when we learned of J.R. Putnam’s use of a roto-​brush, sanitization and cleaning of the motor, coils and plenum for less than $ 500 — we immediately took advantage of the Gold-​Star package.
The technician was professional and honest. When I asked him how bad our ducts were, he said on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the worst, ours were a 4! He showed me the build-​up, pointed out different aspects of the furnace and A/​C unit, how to keep them clean and what services the company provided. I appreciated that there were no surprises, no bait and switch, no additional tune-​ups necessary.
We’re very happy with the work, the value and the results!
