Mochii Yogurt

This was the kind of joint dreams are made of. I was so sad when I found out they were closed I almost threw a fit but instead drowned my tears in the second rate frozen yogurt I was forced to endure from another shop.
Why Mochii, why did you go away? Come back and I promise to come every day until I can no longer fit through your front door.

Froyo+Mochi=Heaven!

This place has some awesome mochi and frozen yogurt, but they are inconsistent with their hours. I’ve come back twice during their advertised «open hours» and it’s been closed. So if you decide to come here, make sure you call or come an hour + before they close.
5 star yogurt + 1 star service/​2 = 3

This place is a great place to go if you are in the mood for a little something sweet after a dinner in downtown Sacramento. The frozen yogurt flavors are always inventive and yummy. Zang is their regular ‘plain’ flavor and its my favorite. I remember they once had a flavor called Pink Ballet Slippers… how cute is that? I believe it was a promotion geared towards performances by the Sacramento Ballet.
Not only are the yogurt flavors great but their toppings are super fresh and the Mochii is delicious! Definitely skip Pinkberry, give this place a try and support the local Sac-​town businesses =)

— small = 4 oz. for $ 2.50; each topping $ 0.95
— medium = 8 oz for $ 3.50; with 3 toppings $ 4.95
— large = 13 oz for $ 6); with 3 toppings $ 7.45
WHILE ORDERING:
— there’s also a small plate with pre-​packaged pre-​made mochi for sale for $ 1 with a sign that reads, «MOCHI ABUSE IS MEAN… PLEASE DON’T PINCH OR SQUEEZE; small $ 1.00»
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
— not greeted warmly by worker
— she seemed unenthusiastic & just rushed us (it’s not like it was busy… we were the only ones there!)
HOW MY FROYO TASTED:
— I got a small Zang froyo with green tea mochi (since a size small only comes with 1 topping)
— Zang froyo was standard, but still cold & tart just the way I like it
— green tea mochi was soft & chewy; actually tasted like matcha!
OVERALL:
— would probably not come here again if service is sub par like tonight
— seems a bit steep for limited toppings & quantity

Freshly made mochi? YUM! We ordered the Zang and Strawberry/​Watermelon Yogurt w/​Mandarin Orange, Tiger’s Blood, Strawberry Kiwi, and Strawberry Flavored Mochi (
), and the fresh mochi were awesome! The zang (original tart) flavor was good, but the texture of the strawberry/​watermelon flavor was a bit on the icy side and tasted a little fake-​y. I think I liked the Tiger’s Blood mochi the best, and Strawberry Kiwi the least, but all the flavors started blending together after a while. They were nice and didn’t skimp with the toppings. I definitely recommend checking them out for the fresh mochi! Parking was easy and the staff is really nice.

Love this place! The woman who works there is super easy going and friendly, there’s always new art on the walls and the yogurt is very good!
I love the trend towards having probiotic & living frozen yogurt (how can the bacteria survive the arctic temperatures??)
I always get the tart plain w/​raspberries.

Yes, I finally made it to Mochii!
This is cute little place that looks like it’s a converted house right on the corner of the street opposite a play park.
They only have a small selection of Yogurt flavors and on my visit they had the following:
— Blood Orange
— Pineapple
— Tart
I opted for a small Pineapple (
) with no toppings as I decided to buy a few bags of their own made Mochi (
) and add my own.
All of the FroYo flavors are Tart which I’m not overly keen on but I found the Pineapple a nice balance of tart to sweet and was very refreshing.
The small bags of Mochi are just $ 1 each and so soft! Flavor is very light, a little too much so for my liking. Flavors include:
— Peach Mango
— Kiwi Watermelon
— Orange
— Pomegranate
— Coconut
— Green Tea
There is a small amount of seating inside as well as a few tables with umbrella’s or you could just take it over to the park and chill on the grass.

Count it — three raspberries.
I have never felt so cheated on fruit at a yogurt place before. Mochii has really good, well. mochi but when it comes to the «bang for your buck» you will not get it here. The yogurt is good but not mind blowing. The mochi is pretty good — lots of flavors. I had the green tea and it’s super fresh (and there were more than I could count so I couldn’t complain). The granola was blahhhh and nothing special. But how much did I pay for good mochi, mediocre granola and yogurt and THREE RASPBERRIES? Far too much.
I think I’ll just buy the mochi alone next time.

I come here more for the mochi than the yogurt. You simply can’t beat the freshness and flavors of the mochi here. I’m especially fond of the green tea mochi. The yogurts, on the other hand, are decent, but don’t stand out. Essentially, without the mochi, this place would probably fall in line with all the other Pinkberry aspirants out there.
However, while other yogurt places usually have brightly light interiors to welcome you in and make you want to stay a while, the interior here was dark, cramped, and uninviting. Especially because nobody else was inside, my boyfriend and I both felt the urge to just finish our yogurt and leave as soon as possible.

I can’t say this was the best yogurt I’ve had but it’s very unique. I’ve never had flavored mochi before and their flavors are named very differently too.
I think I paid $ 4.00 for a small cup of yogurt with toppings you can choose. The inside was really small. You can fit less than 15 – 20 people in there. They also have weird times. I drove by craving some late night yogurt at 8pm and it says they close at 830ish-​9pm and they already closed.
I doubt I’ll come here again because I live across Pinkberry anyways

Two things I’ve heard about this place– its good but expensive. I agree…
I stopped in one evening after having dinner across the street. I had been waiting a long time to try this place and was excited to finally have the chance. The first thing I noticed when I walked in were their different flavors of fro-​yo such as blueberry and strawberry lemonade. I had the blueberry in a cone with no toppings ($ 3.00). I liked the flavor and smooth texture. My boyfriend had the original with tiger blood mochi and fruit ($ 4.50). The mochi was very tasty and soft, fruit was fresh. While everything was fresh and tasted good I still think this place was a little too expensive and over rated. This place charges close to a dollar per topping! I would rather go to Pinkberry where the yogurt taste even better, more variety, all they can fit toppings and cheaper.

I came here 5 minutes before closing time. I thought they closed at 11 not 10:30 that night. No wonder the girl didn’t look happy. Oops…
I don’t like how they limit how many toppings you can have. They can’t fit a lot into the cup anyways.
I had the strawberry acai yogurt with tiger’s blood (cherry, orange and passion fruit) and pomegranate mochi. The yogurt is tart like Pinkberry. I like the texture of the mochi– soft like little pillows! I can’t really distinguish the flavors though. What I loved were the passionfruit boba topping. I thought they were going to be chewy like they are in drinks but instead they pop in your mouth. It was fun to eat them! I wish they sold these in little baggies! :P

This was another great Unilocal find, thanks to Fro-​yo Girl Lolia S. and Wilhelm Y. About a year ago, Lolia S. brought this place to my attention as I was writing a Unilocal review for one of the Sacramento businesses during one my daughters’ cheerleading competitions.
We arrived in Sacramento a day before my daughters’ competition the next day. After having dinner at Elephant Bar and Grill near Arden Fair, we decided to pass on dessert here. I asked the family if they wanted to try one of the fro-​yo places up there. Of course they knew I wanted to Unilocal this place, and they were game. Just the name of this place itself was appealing to my family who love mochi.
We made our way to Midtown, and I found a parking spot right in front of the store. Located on a very visible corner location, it was hard to miss (

The inside of the store is very brightly painted, with artwork and various other pictures posted along the walls.
Yogurt flavors vary on a weekly basis, as well as their mochii. Their mochi offerings are quite impressive. Not only do they make their own mochi, they also have a nice variety.
The mochi flavors offered at the time of our visit were: tigers blood, raspberry, strawberry, coconut, mango, peach.
We ordered:
–Zang (tart), with strawberries, kiwi, and blood orange mochi (
). The yogurt had a nice, fresh, and clean tartness to it. The fruit was fresh, and the mochi soft, with a nice subtle sweet orange taste.
–Strawberry Banana, with raspberry and strawberry mochi (
): Also good. The yogurt had just the right amount of sweetness.
–Yellow Nectarine (
). An interesting fro-​yo flavor! Fruity, tart, and a nice, lingering nectarine aftertaste with each spoonful. This was topped with mango and peach mochi.
What we like was that they sell little bags of their mochi. The bags were small, and we asked the owner if they can sell us larger bags of their mochi. She gladly accommodated us! The kids enjoyed them while back at the hotel and the next day.
I was quite impressed with the place, I returned here the next day during a break between my daughters’ performances at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium. It was a nice 3 block stroll for some needed refreshment.
I’m glad I finally checked this place out. Will be back!

I’m friggin A D D I C T E D! I had an ice cream dessert already after dinner the other night, and I was somehow still wanting Mochii Yogurt!
This place is definitely better than Pinkberry and all those other bootleg yogurt places. I crave for this like every other day or so! Pick your flavor of yogurt, and add your toppings! The yogurt flavors change every so often, but three choices are always available. You get two toppings included. The mochi is soooo good and they have a large variety of choices! Ask for some samples if you’re not sure which flavor you want to go with! My personal fave one is the Peach Mochi! They even have fresh fruit! I recommend picking one fresh fruit topping and one mochi topping for your yogurt!
With this place being located so close to my place, it could be potentially damaging to my wallet if I can’t learn to control my cravings for it.

This is what I miss the most about living so close to Sac!!! I wish they had one just like this place in SF!
I love love love their mochii toppings!!! The freshest mochii I’ve ever tried in any fro-​yo place! My two faves would have to be the ube and the tiger’s blood. I get so excited whenever I walk in and they have the ube mochii though! haha (It goes well with coconut flavored yogurt.) I think their alternating yogurt flavors could be a hit or miss sometimes but their constant zang is one of my addictions! I think they had a sangria flavor once, too, and I thought it was sooooooo goood…
Great place for a first date dessert stop if you like tangy type yogurt. :)

It’s happened. It’s finally happened. For lack of better words I have become … a Unilocal whore! How else can I better explain this? Within an hour of arriving in Sacramento after skipping lunch and having only a nutrition bar for breakfast where is the first place I go to relieve my growling belly a mere minutes prior to the dinner hour but to a place that held one of my oldest Unilocal bookmarks, a place that is none other than Mochii Yogurt!
Not surprisingly the little fro-​yo shop was empty when I arrived. I’m sure everybody else was undoubtedly having a real dinner at the time. I was greeted by a friendly young lady who cheerfully asked whether I was visiting Mochii for the very first time. As a matter of fact !!!
On my visit three fro-​yo flavors were offered — Coconut Silk, Mango and Mochii’s signature original tart flavor a.k.a. «Zang». Since I stay away from most things coconut (nope, can’t stand the stuff!) it basically meant I had two flavors to choose from. I was offered samples. The mango flavor in the Mango was very faint, but for lack of choices that’s what I went with.
Unimpressed by the fro-​yo I shifted my attention to the toppings namely the flavored homemade mochi for which I bookmarked this shop for in the first place after reading Unilocal friend Ally D’s stellar FTR a long, long time ago. They offer samples of their mochi too, and I thought the little nuggets of flavored rice gluten were outstanding.
Along with my medium sized (I was hungry!) Mango I chose fresh strawberries, Tiger’s Blood mochi and Mandarin Orange mochi as my three toppings. The Mandarin Orange mochi was the most flavorful one I tried and Tiger’s Blood, a combination of cherry, orange and passion fruit, was just plain unique. In all there were nine different mochi flavors to choose from.
My fro-​yo serving was quite generous (
) but I got skimped on the fresh strawberries as I found maybe eight little bits of fruit hidden underneath the mochi toppings. The fro-​yo was on the firm and icy side which I didn’t mind because it melted slowly. I enjoyed it inside the shop why admiring some of the art pieces (

) mounted on the wall. The treat was very good.

Came across this place one night and now we can’t stop it’s very Yumm
