Top This Frozen Yogurt

I was so excited. So excited when I saw the $ 1.00 yogurt Tuesday sign. «What day is it?!» I hissed to my friend. After she gave me a weirded out look and said «Tuesday.» I downed my Magpie beer and started shoveling food in my mouth, I pointed to Top This, a storefront down and said «Yogurt. One dollar.» That was all that needed to be said. She downed her wine and we hastily checked out to get ourselves some yogurt.
Let me explain my views on frozen yogurt first.
Firstly, fro-​yo is NOT ice cream. If I wanted soft serve ice cream I would go to Dairy Queen.
Secondly, there are two types of froyo. Sweet, aka Big Spoon, and Tart, aka Pinkberry (I just randomly chose the biggest yogurt chains I could think of to explain my point).
Thirdly, while I am not rich, I care nothing about the price of yogurt, good yogurt is good yogurt and bad is bad. Price will not change my rating, but only make me happy. How expensive could it get anyways?
Lastly, I personally enjoy tart variety yogurt, but like sweet chocolate variety as well.
Back to the story, I did a courteous flavor scan: Ginger Lemonade, Blackberry, Strawberry, Tart, Chocolate, and Vanilla. I only like tart and chocolate. I tasted Tart and was disgusted. It was drippy, runny, and sweet! Why call it Tart? Oh, because you can’t call it nasty frozen sugar water. I settled on the chocolate.
I thought about getting Nutella on my chocolate, but when I opened it up it looked so old and gloppy I decided it wasn’t worth ruining my yogurt over. I browsed the toppings and was grossed out. There wasn’t any fresh fruit, and the sauces all looked old, gloppy, and cooked down. It was only 5:45. I settled for a plain cup of yogurt.
We sat outside enjoying the slow end of a pleasant day to enjoy our yogurt. With each spoonful I grew more and more unhappy. The yogurt texture was off, and it tasted more like chemicals and less like chocolate. It was also half melted after two or three spoonfuls.
I hate to say this, but usually when I finish a froyo cup I am sad. Sad that I had not gotten more. Today when I finished my yogurt I was not sad. I was relieved. It was like a really bad relationship ending. I was simply relieved it was over.

This place is fantastic, I am sitting here Monday morning craving the fro-​yo I had last night!
~ It is very cute inside, with a fro-​yo mural on the wall and a «old time soda shop» feel… I was happy before I even tasted anything.
Then I tried the yogurt, holy hell… I didn’t realize fro-​yo could taste this good and the unique flavors won me over. Pineapple and coconut? YES PLEASE together in a swirl? EVEN BETTER. They also have chocolate vanilla and «original»…they had a large amount of liquid toppings (including cherry, Reese’s peanut butter and fudge) and an enormous amount in dry toppings.
I had pineapple and coconut with peanut butter sauce and cherries on top. and while you might say that sounds gross, it wasn’t and it was only 2 dollars… you can’t get better than that! ~see you all summer long Top This!

Boooooooooo! Awful service, mediocre yogurt!
I live around the corner, so I seriously want this place to be awesome, and ive given it quite a few chances. We always go after dinner, the first time we went 2 hours before their posted closing time, and they had already put away all of the fruit and didn’t offer to bring anything out. We had to ask for them to get the mochi out again.
Then we went again a few weeks later, hours before they were closing, and all of the sauces were congealed because they had turned off the warmers. If you want to close early, change your hours! Not to mention, the employees made us feel less than welcome. I don’t need 5 star service at a yogurt shop, but i don’t think courtesy is too much to ask for. Go to Cultive instead.

I love Fro Yo. It seems like its hard to go wrong. But this place manages to.
To start, the employees are hardly friendly. We live near by and have given the place a few chances to change our minds, but they are pretty consistently disappointing. Two times we have gone around 8:30 when they stated they closed at 10pm over the phone and the heater for the hot fudge and shell sauces had been turned off so the sauces were totally hard and The fresh fruit and mochi had been put away already. When we asked if they could bring out some mochi the girl said «Well I already put it away, but okay.» The dry ingredients were stale or hard as a rock. I dont expect perfect service from a yogurt place, but this place only disappoints. And its true, the yogurt does melt almost immediately. Sorry. :(

This is the place for Tuesday. After enjoying a burger from Burgers and Brew on a Tuesday, this place is a must. A buck gets you all of the yogurt and toppings you can get in a small cup.
I’d buy that for a dollar!!!
That’s my story.

$ 1 Tuedays! Filled my cup embarrassingly full. Toppings fell to the floor as I paid :) Ginger lemonade and Blackberry pomegranate were refreshing topped with fruity candy.
Yogurt, ice cream, gelato and the like give the gelatin jiggle in my badonkadonk… in a good way ;) Don’t hate!

This was the night I ate three desserts. One at Shady Lady, Magpie and Top This. I was very productive after all that sugar.
On Tuesdays they have 1 $ cups. My friend and I chose the tart yogurt and added some toppings. The yogurt was grainy and too sweet.
Sorry Top This, I think other yogurt places can Top your yogurt. (Groan…)

The only reason I’m still holding out and giving this place one more star than it deserves is because it’s $ 1 on Tuesdays, and really, how can you pass that up? Okay, and that they have Nutella topping…
But the yogurt was too liquid-​y and didn’t have enough substance. I was sad. I really want to rate this place higher.

I tried this place out during the Sammies block party. When I got to the back of the store to fill up my cup of yogurt, I realized they don’t have sample cups near the yogurt. I wanted to try the tropical fruit punch flavor (I think that’s what it was), but they also don’t have spoons by the yogurt and I didn’t want a potentially nasty flavor messing up my cup.
I opted for regular vanilla and piled on the last of the kiwis, maraschino cherries (with stems, ick!), gummy bears, and gambled with four green apple gummy rings (big mistake).
By the time I sat down in the patio chairs right outside, my yogurt was melting. Considering it was around 7 p.m. on a comfortable October evening, there was no excuse for this. My husband’s mix of vanilla and chocolate was also melting.
I know frozen desserts can make gummy candy hard. I’m used to that since I love my froyo with gummy bears, but my green apple rings were rock hard. I couldn’t even take a bite into one until I warmed it up in my mouth for at least 30 seconds.
I was extremely disappointed with my yogurt. We went back later to get samples and the machine with the fruity flavors was out of order. I tried the cheesecake, which was a bit tart for my taste. I liked the strawberry.
Another negative: They don’t have serving spoons for each topping. I don’t want another topping’s juices getting on the topping of my choice.
One positive: Hand sanitizer, which you really need after your yogurt has melted all over the place.

My boyfriend and I came here for dessert after dinner at Burgers and Brew next door. When we walked in there was absolutely no one there. No employees or customers. We just started to build our dessert and as we were almost done an employee came out of the back area. She rang us up, cleaned up a bit, then went straight into the back again. We enjoyed our desserts, but felt a little weird about being there.
There weren’t as many toppings as I would’ve wanted and the yogurt itself wasn’t very tasty. I haven’t been back since, and just go to the many other choices for fro-​yo instead. Maybe I went at a wrong time, but first impressions mean everything and this one had a bad one on me.

I love frozen yogurt! I believe the flavor of the yogurt should stand alone in the delishness with the topping being an added bonus. Top this frozen yogurt did not pass the test. I sampled 4 out of the 6 flavor to offer. I can’t say they were bad but I wasn’t tooken away, I’ve had AM-​PM yogurt that was tastier then this place. Usually the flavor of just plain vanilla over takes me and I brush all others aside, this time the vanilla was just. Plain, so I decided on a half and half with vanilla and a malt chocolate.
They had a nice selection of toppings and syrups to choose from, and my friend did comment on how fresh their fruit toppings were, so I will give credit where it belongs, I added strawberries and blackberries to my chocolate side but they also had kiwi, mangos and a few other fruit toppings to chose from.
I would probably go back to Top This only if I was in the area and someone else wanted to, otherwise I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again.

Their yogurt is very flavorful, but not too sweet which is the way I like it. They give good options between frozen styles.

It’s official, I’m getting back on the yogurt train. I had a craving for it again — the second time in a couple of months. This is just how my sushi fetish started so in a couple of weeks, my entire diet will consist of creamy goodness and sprinkles toppings.
I would give the full five, but I really feel like I need more time with yogurt shops to be able to fully gauge. However, nothing was a miss here that I could tell. The place was spankin’ clean, the service was great and they had two flavors of chocolate! (Hershey’s and Dutch) Plus, they had red velvet flavor which should be a staple in every yogurtarian’s vernacular. They didn’t have other favorite flavors like cheesecake or cake batter, but the red velvet made up for it.
Idea: R15 and Top This should make sweet love and pop out some alcohogurt babies before summer is over.

The yogurt flavors they had the day I went weren’t that great. Nothing that blew my mind. They’re affordable and lots of fruit selections. Also lots of candy as well! A typical self-​serve frozen yogurt venue; nothing spectacular but great on a warm summer/​spring day. Clean store and friendly service.

Wow, can’t believe it’s been a year since the first review I wrote of this spot!
Just wanted to let y’all know in this Unilocal update that Top This now carries Strauss Organic frozen yogurt here. They got it in yesterday. Flavors are: original tart, vanilla and Dutch chocolate. I liked the chocolate.
I dunno… having a European organic name to yogurt somehow makes it more gourmet and healthier… but then I pile on the Heath Bar toppings and that cancels everything out.

Some days a 5 star, some days just a 3.
The yogurt is very good. Favorite flavors include: Cake Batter, Heath Bar, Snickerdoodle. The toppings are good. They do not have bananas in their fruit toppings, making Yogurt-​a-​go-​go more desirable if the flavors are right.
The service is quite the opposite. The staff often put away the toppings early in an effort to close up shop early and are indifferent toward customers.

Yet *another* new strip mall in Roseville, that looks like the rest of them, with a fro-​yo store.
Great, friendly service with a smile and a laugh!
6 different flavors to choose from — nothing out of the ordinary — your typical vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, etc… Love the «turn the dial» and watch the toppings fall in your cup apparatus. Enjoy!

Came here last night since my friend said there was a non-​dairy flavor to choose from, and man, their Raspberry Pomegranate non-​dairy flavor was awesomely good!
Top This really does offer a lot of toppings. There were probably 10 fruit selections to choose from, chips of all sorts including carob chips, mixed mochi, almost any type of nut crushed up, plenty of candy, syrup and whipped cream too. Top This offers three cup sizes! And yes, that can be dangerous.
Glad to know there’s another place in the neighborhood offering non-​dairy yogurt!

BEST frozen yogurt i’ve had in my lifetime!!!
and i say that as an experience yogurt eater.
Selection, 34 cents an ounce, cute urban/​sophisticated/​modern atmosphere in the heart of downtown. convenient hours, and right next to a burgers and brew (another one of my favorite restaurants).
they had an «orange sorbet» that i was hesitant at first about, but it tasted like REAL ORANGES! not that crappy super sour/​sweet flavor you think of.
FRESH, drained fruit — not the runny wet frozen fruit that melts your yogurt.
GO HERE !!!

Two words: CAKE BATTER
It’s the yummiest yogurt flavor that you will ever try — tastes better than licking the bowl!
