Update: Dr. Cloninger has retired. I miss him. Dr. Sean Deane has taken over his practice, and I’ve stayed and continue to have a good experience. Dr. Deane and Dr. Cloninger have different styles – Dr. Cloninger was much chattier, spent more time with each patient, and just had such a wealth of experience based on so many years in practice. But Dr. Deane is very knowledgeable, extremely thorough, and I feel confident in his care. He has a tendency to talk pretty fast and cover a lot of ground, so it’s not unusual for me to ask him to repeat himself or to ask clarifying questions. But, a small inconvenience for good medical care.
Also, the nurses and office staff are so sweet. Which is good considering how often I’m in there for allergy shots!

I made an appointment with this office because of the previous reviews. However, the I did not like the physician that took over Dr Cloninger’s practice and it was a waste of time and money.

I selected Dr. Cloninger partly based on the existing review of him on Unilocal,and the other review couldn’t have been more accurate. I was very impressed with his ability to communicate and listen, and he conveys a real sense that he is on top of his game. His office is also very efficient, there was no excessive waiting, and his staff was able to get insurance approval for additional tests before the doctor had even finished examining me. In my experience it’s not usually very easy to find a good doctor, so I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Cloninger on my first effort at using an allergist, and I highly recommend him to anyone else suffering from allergies (or asthma) in the Sacramento region.
