Raley’s

This guy who works there totally blew my mom and I off while we were trying to ask him a question

So frustrated with Raley’s on Freeport. It used to be a pretty decent store, but it’s really going downhill & it’s incredibly frustrating. Unhelpful staff, empty shelves, poor organization of products, poor selection of foodstuffs. I’m going to to have to drive a different way home from work so I can find a better store to get my shopping.

NICKLE-​AND-​DIME PRACTICE; POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FOLLOW UP
They nickle-​and-​dime you at the coffee bar (Bakery Section) (e.g., extra charge for half and half in Mochas, etc.), even though there is no «policy» on this, and the extra charges are not applied consistently (e.g., some staff add the extra charge, and some do not add the extra charge). I complained to Raley’s headquarters online on 3÷2÷2015 about the extra charges, to see if they support this «nickle and dime» practice. I followed up via phone at their Customer Service Center on 3÷31÷2015, and was told the person who was assigned the case was not at their desk, but that they would call me back. It has been around nine (9) months now, and Raley’s Headquarter’s Customer Service Center has FAILED TO CALL ME BACK, to date.

Believing it is better to shop local, and prefering family owned stores, I have continued to make this my grocery store despite all the other options.
For more than the past 40 years I have been a loyal Raleys customer at this location, but after tonight that is going to change.
If they can’t be loyal to me and provide the least amount of acomodation, then I will be shopping somewhere (anywhere) else from now on.
I am disabled, and to describe grocery shopping as being ardous for me is no exageration. Because I shop infrequently and then stock up, I only go once a month (or less) and was dismayed by finding the cupons on the items I regularly buy that they send as part of their loyalty program, were unusable to me as they would expire.
I called and discussed this problem with the store manager and he told me, «No problem, if they are store cupons we can honor them any time, unlike manufacturers cupons that we can’t honor after the expiration date.»
So, today I go in and struggle through the store, get my cart full and go to checkout. That’s when the big problem arose.
When I hand over my cupons the cashier tells me they are expired, I explain that I had been told by the manager that store cupons are ok to use at any time etc.
He does not take my word for it but calls someone else who comes and says, «No we can’t accept these.» I once again explain how I was told I could and have been doing so for a long time … but to add insult to injury, this minor manager tells me, «No we can’t override expired cupons and this has always been our policy.»
The expletive BS comes to mind, and the expression, «Don’t piss up my leg and tell me it’s rain.», but what I said was, «Don’t tell me it has always been that way, because if so I would not have been told otherwise and been accomodated on this on a regular basis for the past several years.»
Well she continued to refuse, so I walked out of there without my groceries and have no plans to ever return to Raleys for more. I also had only recently switched over to their pharmacy but I guess that’s out too; nice that a new CVS is about to open not far from there.
I found this behavior on their part completely unacceptable.

This Raleys is the worst grocery store in Sacramento. Not because of the produce or items, but because of THE POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE PROVIDED BY TEENAGERS AT NIGHT!!! This is the third and final time I will be at this store. Each and every time I do not feel appreciated. Today was the last straw. While checking out tonight, the one employee «Blayke» showed her paycheck to «Christina with braces» and was comparing pay and hours. I could not believe it. While I was getting rang up for my food. Haha. Seriously the worst. Will never return and either should you.

Out of bananas? How can you be out of bananas? That’s like… the most bought grocery item in the history of groceries.
Every time I come in here I pick up items to show my mom just so I can say how much they cost. It’s a fun game because no one wins, especially the people playing.
In spite of being two times the normal size of a Raleys and being on a main street, this store outdoes itself by still not stocking what you want. It does have this slightly similar store brand thing for just two dollars more though.

I love shopping at this Raley’s. It’s close to midtown, and the parking lot is so easy to maneuver and find a spot in (anyone on the grid knows what I’m talking about… the two midtown grocery store parking lots are a nightmare).
They tend to have some really unique items here… I walk down the international foods isle every time I go, just to see if there’s something interesting I need.

I used to come to this raleys a lot before I moved closer to a bel air but this one is always there when I need it. They have a peets coffee located in the back next to the bakery which is awesome! They have a floral department right by one of the entrances and is always lovely to see as soon as you enter. They always have a wide variety and lots of seasonal flowers, the people there are always friendly when ever we need flowers !

My second grocery store choice when looking for an alternative to the midtown Safeway. It’s a Raley’s. The layout is weird because the building is old, but they have a lot of stuff, and the lines aren’t slow. And parking is usually OK. Worth the drive in my estimation.

My experiences of late have been fairly good. I just can’t get over the fact that the Hot Wok isn’t there. I rarely bought anything at the Wok, but it was like tradition having the Wok there. Grew up with it being there. If I didn’t want to order the American style fried chicken, I can always order the Chinese fried chicken… or whenever I was hankering for that chicken chow mein take-​out, the Wok was there.
They didn’t have Challah bread today. I was super disappointed because we eat Challah bread on Labor Day, too. Had to travel everywhere just to get some Challah.

Nice neighborhood grocery store with sweet workers (mostly in high school) willing to help take and load groceries into your car! Although Raley’s isn’t as cheap as Wal-​Mart, Foods Co, WinCo., etc. they always have FRESH fruits, vegetables, and bakery items in stock! Even better, they created $ 5 Monday sales where selected groceries/​junk foods/​etc. go on sale! There’s also a pharmacy at this location so patrons are able kill two birds with one stone.
Like most Raley’s, they also offer hot/​cold foods including fried chicken, Chinese food (i.e. chow mein, sweet and sour pork, fried rice, fried chicken, broccoli beef, egg rolls, potstickers), potato salads, deli meats and dressings, freshly baked cakes/​cookies/​donuts, fresh flowers, an entire area dedicated to various home grown nuts, artisan coffee beans, spices, etc., and, best of all, there’s a Peet’s coffee stand inside!
If you’re in a hurry this location has a self-​checkout area as well so patrons can get in and out in less than five minutes! There’s also a lot of parking available and it’s open LATE! (Until 11PM most nights!) Raley’s also offers a «Something Extra» rewards card (It’s FREE) giving customers extra savings on items they commonly purchase.
All in all, a great and SAFE place to come if your’re looking to do a quick grocery store run!

The Freeport Raley’s is a pretty standard example of the chain, however this location took over the entire shopping center which makes it a very large store. The layout is a little strange being very long but not very deep. This can be a bit complicated having to walk a long way to find certain items.
I like their deli, seafood, and grocery areas. Their produce and meats are pretty average, but at least they have a decent selection of natural and organic offerings. Staff are above average from a service perspective, and I always love not having to unload the cart at the checkout. This location also has Self Checkout which is great when there is no line. If there is a line use the standard staffed lanes; they are much faster!

I am only giving them 3 stars because of the power outage that occurred just a few hours ago. My grandma had to go to the pharmacy and the power was out of wack because of the thunder and lightning.
I also bought hot pockets that were 4 for $ 9. To me, that was an okay deal so I only decided to get two boxes. I mean… c’mon who doesn’t love hot pockets?

I’m not often one to comment, but after experiencing the above average customer service at this store tonight, I feel compelled to pull out my phone and register my appreciation. From the moment I arrived, when an employee in the parking lot offered me a cart, a positive tone was set. The people helping me check out were so perfectly friendly that, despite being tired and a bit grumpy after a long day, I couldn’t help brighten up. The store also carries a wide variety of organic produce and natural food items I was looking for, so the shopping experience went smoothly.

This Raley’s is one of the older locations dating back in the 1960’s. It has been remodelled as well.
We recently visited because I wanted to pick up some movies at the Redbox machine indoors. Luckily they had 2 inside as we went to the Target on Riverside and I was surprised to see no Redboxes there!
My HB retired from Raley’s and he wanted to visit the produce manager there who he is close with and they chatted for quite some time. Even the produce there are displayed in smaller bins than before. An update from previous times!
This Raley’s is so centrally located. So close to City College and not to far from Elk Grove. It is very close to my mother-in-law’s house where we frequent once a week. Often times the store is busy which it was that Friday. Many busy lines but not too long.
I am sure we will be back!

I don’t buy a wide variety of things, so the selection is sufficient for my needs. It’s close to where I live and is open when I need to go. However, I will be making it a point to purchase my meat elsewhere, as the few times I’ve gotten it here have been disappointing.
There is a problem when you purchase ground beef, make the 10 minute walk home and pop it in the fridge, only to discover the next morning that it has turned completely brown and smells really off. (yes, my refrigerator is working properly, thanks for checking) Even the cat didn’t want anything to do with it. The package looked fine in the store and had a few days remaining before the sell-​by date, so it makes me wonder whether the date was incorrect or if it had been stored improperly for awhile before landing in my shopping basket.
I will continue to come here for things that aren’t easily screwed up like paper towels or coffee, but will be making it a point to go shopping a little earlier in the day, just a teensy bit further down the street.

This store has the BEST music hands down and there’s never a dull moment which gives it the perfect Land Park/​city vibe. Twice the size of a typical Raley’s, this is a ONE-​STOP-​SHOP. I’ve purchased everything from bird seed to lawn décor to potting soil along with my weekly necessities. Curtis Park Village will most likely include a new neighborhood grocer but I’m Loyal to my peeps.

I have been going to Raley’s for years. I like the fact that they have done upgrades. It feels so much better when you walk in. The one thing I like very much is that they have nice plants and beautiful flowers that I can purchase now that Target’s garden section on Riverside Blvd. and Capital Nursery are closed.
If you don’t want to make the trip to Home Depot or Lowe’s and live close to Raley’s, you will get great flowers. The prices are also reasonable.
I am looking at my beautiful flowers as I am writing this review. It is a one stop for all my needs.

I wanted to check out this Raley’s because I’ve never been to this location and, having just moved to midtown, it is my new closest Raley’s. I was pleased that the looks are deceiving; the outside looks a bit janky but the inside is just as nice as my old go-​to Raley’s. Plus I’m oddly in love with the structure itself. This is the longest Raley’s I’ve ever seen. There are three entrances and when you’re inside, the store seems to stretch on and on. It’s like a stretch limo grocery store.
The produce section is very nicely arranged. The deli counter had everything we were stopping in for– multiple ham selections for Easter noms, check and check. And while we were inside the overhead PA played Al Green and Scissor Sisters. YAAAAAS. Love this Raley’s!

I like this Raley’s. The produce is always fantastic. I always come to this location for the same 2 things… red lettuce and avocado.
This is my stop right after I pick up what I need at Mahoroba.
The self check out lanes are almost always empty. The spaces in the lot are plentiful. I give it a solid 3.5 stars considering what I come here for.
