At the Sacramento Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu Academy, you will receive attentive instruction in every single training session in which you participate. All classes are taught personally by Terry Maxwell and his son Davin Maxwell. Both Terry and Davin are well versed in the devastating art of Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu. Terry has been practicing Jiu-​Jitsu since 1995 and is a Cassio Werneck black belt. Terry also spent five years training under Carlson Gracie black belt, Rodrigo Medeiros in San Diego, CA. At that time he won the Pan American Jiu-​Jitsu championships. Davin is currently a purple belt and competes at the highest level in his class. Feel free to drop in anytime to check us out.

History

Established in 2009.

Terry has been actively training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu since 1995. He was instrumental in introducing the art to the Sacramento area back in 1995 when he helped Cassio Werneck open his first school here in the area. He earnd his blue belt from Cassio after about a year of training, He earned his purple in 1998. He then moved to San Diego, CA and began training with Carlson Gracie black belt, Rodrigo Medeiros, where he earnd his brown belt. Terry moved back up to Sacramento and teamed back up with Cassio and was awarded his black belt. Along this jouney, he collected many tournament wins, both with and without the gi. In 2001 he won the Pan American Jiu-​Jitsu Championships. Davin is a very technical BJJ practitioner and has been actively competing since he was five. He practices the «new school» approach and stays on top of current trends within the sport. He has many years of compitition ahead of him and he wishes to take his talents to the highest level.

Davin is one of the most technical Jiu Jitsu players out of Sacramento that currently competes. He attends every class and offers his valuable input on the techniques which are taught in the academy. South Sac BJJ is very fourtunate to have such a high level player on board.
