Sun pizza is one of the few halal restaurants that serve good halal food. I have been coming to sun pizza for years now and the food always been good. The menu has changed a few times but I really like the double cheeseburger and gyro fries. The gyro fries are absolutely amazing and a must try. The service is good as well and food is ready in a good amount of time.

We tried the chicken pizza with white sauce… no bueno. My relatives got pepperoni, it was ok. We also had broaster chicken, it was really salty. The interior needs help, its very sad. Customer service is not good either.

The chicken is amazing! Crispy, crunchy, and juicy. Loved every bite. Pizza, well nothing spectacular. The dough was too dense and chewy. Highly reccommend the chicken and wedges though.

Food use to be good and service was great, but that was under previous ownership years past… sorry to say tried to pre-order to get a pizza and some broaster chicken today and when got there the order was not even started and then told would get it in 10 minutes which meant was brought out 20 minutes after had arrive for the pick-up. No apology or attempt to make it right and when asked for a couple bucks off, the owner acted as though I was making some strange request and took order back??? So, Don’t even know if food is any better and kids did not get there pizza lunch… What an awful experience have had and lesson in poor customer service that would never wish upon anyone, thus this review to be warned customer is not #1 priority here, be happy with what you get when you get it or be smart and go else where.

I was excited to give Sun Pizza a try because there aren’t very many Mediterranean eateries near where I work, so when we decided to come here for a work meeting I was pretty excited. I don’t know how good their pizza is, but I had the Beef Shawarma Plate and it was — along with the rest of my experience — mediocre unfortunately. My first issue came with the pricing. I was looking at the menu ahead of time and the prices looked surprisingly low compared to what I thought they should be. After placing my order it turns out the pricing on the menu was all wrong. As a consumer it always bugs a little to not know how much you are going to pay for something and it just feels like more attention should be given to making sure your menus are accurate. And as other reviewers have noted, the interior REALLY needs some work. The benches are destroyed which certainly has an effect on the environment. I understand the struggle for small businesses to make certain improvements, but you just have to when you want customers to return for future business… the customer needs to feel comfortable. They had also mopped the floor just before we arrived so we had this extremely strong odor of pine sol while eating(they even had a fan going to help get the smell out)…props on trying to keep the place clean, but trying to eat while your head swims from the smell of chemicals is not a pleasurable experience. In terms of the food, it was definitely not nice and warm when it came out and we were not given the bread that came with the meal(which was really good) until we were finished eating; they had forgotten. The meat was tough and the salad could have used more dressing. So I don’t know. I’ve been to other Mediterranean eateries and have enjoyed it much more. I may go back and see if the Gyros are a better option or possibly something else, but I was not impressed the first time around. Other complaint is again, the lack of fountain drinks. I cannot stand over-priced soda out of the can because you pay the same as a fountain drink, but for a fraction of the amount. My co-worker had a Gyro and said it was really good so maybe I’ll give it a second go around, but I think I will get it to go this time around.

Very good pizza. Plus try the double cheese burger really juicy full of flavor. Plus the broaster chicken is off the hook also. Food was really fresh and hot.

The fried chicken tastes great but they haven’t had chicken breast in over a year. So why is chicken breast still listed about six times on the menu? Please remove chicken breast from the menu. Please update the chicken meals to reflect the fact that you stopped selling the breast a long time ago and, change the prices accordingly — the breast is the most expensive part. You ask people to substitute another piece for the breast but you don’t adjust the prices. The pizza ranges from very good to below average. The last pizza I had here was over-cooked and dry. However, in the past I have had some cooked to perfection. The problem here is inconsistency. Also, there was barely any pepperoni on my pizza. I would have ordered extra pepperoni — but one time I did and still got barely any pepperoni. The workers are usually very nice and seemingly very over-worked. My pizza was probably burned because there was only one person working that day. He was taking orders and cooking. To the owner: 1. Properly staff the restaurant 2. Update the menu — remove discontinued items 3. Update the prices to reflect the menu changes 4. Keep the restaurant a bit cleaner. 5. Add the hours of operation to the window. 6. My last couple of visits were two-star but I’ve had four-star visits in the past. So three stars it is… though falling fast. 7. I used to look forward to going here. Now I’m leaning on not going back.

This is the place to go for amazing pizza with halal meats in Sacramento.(For those not in the know, «halal» is meat prepared in accordance with Islamic teachings, which is to treat the animal in a humane way). Anyways, back to the review, we placed an order over the phone using a pixelated picture of the menu we found on Unilocal! There were many mouth-watering items to pick from the menu and so we ordered two pizza’s with two styles on each half. We arrived to the restaurant after about 25 minutes, waited a while more and then got busy with our dinner. Some of the highlights: *oh-so-tangy BBQ sauce on the«chicken barbecue pizza» *super fresh pesto basil and rosemary on the«chicken on the green» & «rosemary pizza» *savory, seasoned and tender meats on the«gyro pizza» Where this place lacks is in customer service. The staff was visibly undermanned and it definitely impacted the wait time and restaurant service while we were there. Despite their flaws and bare bones interior layout, the tasty meal will have us coming back again next time we’re in the area.

Interior was just drab and dreary. I ordered food for delivery but they told me that the drivers had been sent home early, so I opted to pick the food up. When I got there it looked like the building was closed and had been closed for a year. I was a little scared. The pizza was just ok. Greasy, with few toppings. I won’t be going back. Although I give them credit for creativity with the gyro pizza.

Food is ok but it just seems like the place is just all dirty and grimy. Thats probably why almost everyone orders to go. Its probably the halal food that is keeping the business open. But seriously need to clean the place up peoples and fix the interior you might get some business.

I’m sorry to be so blunt, but this place is not worthy of a 4 star rating. Unilocalers, you let me down this time. I was excited to try this place because I have a muslim friend who requires halal food and the rating was so good. As soon as we pulled up, I knew it was going to be a let down. First of all, they don’t have a lit up sign on the front of their restaurant, so if you’re trying to find the place for the first time at night, be prepared for that. The interior is awful. one star for that. The torn up upholstery on a couple of the booths was especially bad. Cons: 1. You get your drinks from a can. 2. You have to ring a bell for service 3. They may or may not have items available that are listed on their menu 4. The interior kind of looks like a dump 5. The front door does not close all the way, so don’t sit next to it on a cold day 6. The pizza is mediocre 7. My food came out barely warm, not hot
Pros: 1. They offer halal, so I can see why that would be a big selling point for some. So the extra star for that. Unfortunately, besides that, I can’t think of any other good thing about this place.

Yum! a hidden spot in the corner plaza next to the Sheriff station. It is named Sun Pizza, but they also sell Mediterranean food. I go there for that. It is usually empty when I go in there. I usually get the Chicken Shawrama plate which comes with rice, pita, and a salad on the side. Rice is FLUUUFFFYYY. I choose chicken over beef because I feel that the beef tends to be dry, chicken is more juicy. Besides the Shawrama I also like the chicken kabob stick plate. It is hidden and in the tougher side of town, but it is worth it. Just because it is empty doesn’t mean it isn’t good, it just means we have to spread the word of mouth. In this part of town its the only place ive seen Mediterranean food. It is a small joint with a small menu so don’t have high expectations with presentation, it is all about the quality of the food!

Halal pizza? Yes, please! The hubs and I come to this place maybe once a year because it’s not as close to us as other pizza places, so when our yearly visit approaches, it’s a real treat. Every time we’ve ordered from Sun, we’ve been nothing but pleased with their food and service, and our expectations have always been exceeded. Last night the hubs called ahead of time and ordered two medium pizzas(12″) to break his fast with: chicken with cheese and jalapeños in white sauce, along with«pepperoni»(I say, «pepperoni,» because it’s probably turkey pepperoni since it’s halal.) The pizzas were ready in time and I have to say, it was love at first bite. Their pizzas taste fresh and have just the right amount of softness and crispiness to them. The crusts are not too thin and not too thick. And, whether turkey pepperoni or not, you can’t tell the difference between that and regular pepperoni. I didn’t try the chicken with cheese and jalapeños pizza but the hubs and everyone else at our house kept raving about it. On a side note: if you’re a party of 4 or more, I highly recommend you at least order their large(14″) pizza. There were 4 of us last night and the two medium pizzas were barely big enough to make us all full. I think we’ll need to change our once a year rule and pay Sun another visit really soon!

Customer Service: 11⁄10 Food: 8⁄10 We found this place on Unilocal, tried to find it in person, failed, found their food truck and the guy working graciously had someone drive us over to help find the restaurant. The cheese pizza was really simple but worth it. The prices are very reasonable and the employees were beyond welcoming/kind. Will definitely be coming back!

Sad to say, I will no longer be coming here. A person can only be patient so many times but when things keep repeating itself such as: when they are out of a certain item but they don’t call you & tell you about it; they don’t ever open the restaurant on time; they don’t have clean restrooms ever; customer service is always slow. But, I’ve always given them a pass since it is a halal restaurant. But no more, there are a lot of other halal restaurants in Sac. It’s funny that my complaints that I just listed were the same problems they were having in 2009 under different management. I hope these guys get it together. For now, I am taking a one year hiatus from this place.

This is a review for their truck… which blows! The guy taking orders didn’t even know how to say Gyros correctly. The gyro he was saying is a component on a rocket inertial navigation unit or a lovable quack scientist named Gearloose. I waited probably 20 minutes to get my Jie-Row. It didn’t seem right that I should wait that long. And then it was underwhelming to say the least. Bland, too much lettuce, no onions nor tomatoes. And for $ 8, it’s a travesty. SUX.
