Vega’s Underground

my boyfriend and I were staying at the Delta King for the night and after dinner at the Rio Café we walked around and came across the Vega’s bar. The door guy (Rick) very nice and talked to us about what was going on around here since we haven’t been to old sac in a long time. Rick the bartender was very knowledgeable on beers and other drinks. I only drink wine and only bud lite beer, Rick made me a drink that I sucked down fast. it was good!
We played pool in the back, it was nice to be away from the front of the bar that way you can hear what your saying and not have to yell. great place overall!

Pretty lame bar. Bartender had a depressed «what am I doing with my life?» vibe and really wasn’t welcoming. She saw me pull my ATM out before she fetched my bottled** beer and didn’t say anything. Then a freshly seated patron next to me noticed a little «cash only» sign and said hope thats a joke. But, no. She brought our drinks THEN pointed that out… lol! Really though? Cash only? Oh but you have a stand-​alone ATM with a $ 2.75 fee? CLEVER!!! ** = And, wait, you also have no beer on tap?!? What!!!
The décor was pretty much non-​existent. The overall dim lighting matched the bartenders dispondent attitude and obviously didn’t help liven the bar at all. They did have a fairly cool band playing and there was roughly 30 people there. The band was quite literally the only thing this place had going for it. Heaven forbid I came on a night without a band… I almost certainly would have very likely walked in, turned right around and walked out.

I love this place! It’s super chill and huge! They have two super cool rooms for playing pool and they are windowed and all so it’s not cluster phobic at all.
They had a girl walking around with little half shots for free and you got to keep the shot glass after! So cool! I bought a shot and they gave me two cool shot glasses that look like shotgun shells. Love it!
The bathrooms are even pretty clean!
The drinks were very sweet– but I didn’t try my normal drink so I will next time. ;)

This place is really cool. First off if you check in you can get a drink for three dollars. They have a promo going on giving free apple whiskey shots l. The band area is set up like a garage so it looks like the band is a garage band which is really cool. The Barbie super nice and the bartenders seem to know everyone so I’m assuming there is a lot of regulars. Definitely want to come back to this place

We were visiting from out of town and wandering around Old Sac and decided to check the place out. It was super empty, but it was a Sunday night. I ordered two rounds of mix drinks. They both sucked. Despite generous tips, the bartender poured light. I’m a lightweight and I was still sober after I finished my drinks. The «honey tea» special drink especially sucked. It tasted like cinnamon, which is great if thats your thing, except I really HATE cinnamon. Pool was $ 1 for a round, which was probably the only redeeming quality of the place. Then again, I’m not familiar with Sac bars, so that might not be that special.

$ 5 for one tiny bottle that had so much sediment at the bottom of the bottle you could feel it chunk by chunk go down my throat. No refund or new bottle

Friday night and only one person was in that bar.
I came with a big group and we could’ve filled the place but the bartender wasn’t friendly at all. I was being nice and polite and he kinda just acted like he didn’t want anyone to come in. I dunno, I mean, I know dive bars are supposed to have that kinda badass feel but mostly I just felt like he didn’t want our business…

No sign or anything. Wtf?
At least he had an atm.
A few people in my group had kamikazes with me, so about 6 – 7 kamikazes and I think it was something like 26 bucks o_​_​_​o
Kind of expensive. I couldn’t really tell if they were strong on account of my 2 previous tequila shots and me being only 91lbs and unable to contain much alcohol XD
I might go back. Might not…

When you have to get away from the hustle and bustle of what has become Old Sacramento, Vega’s Underground is the perfect escape! 2 pool tables, darts and jukebox! Drink prices are reasonable and it’s clean. Good times!

Pretty basic little uptight place. Horrible service, usual regulars. charged $ 20 for cover for a basement to be lied to for our friends throwing up when nobody did. Been here twice, for a boring exclusive place, I hope this place fails.

One apostrophe away from «Vegas Underground» but that’s where the similarities end, unfortunately.
Dropped by around 11pm on a Saturday night and it was D-​E-​A-​D. I could picture tumbleweeds blowing across the floor — it was THAT deserted. There were literally no other customers inside when we walked in, and still barely anyone on our way out about an hour later.
And it wasn’t hard to figure out why — dark, dim, and a little bare, the atmosphere was far from lively and welcoming. There was a jukebox playing some classic rock oldies but nothing that really set the mood or got the party started. And to top it all off, it was some kind of ungodly HOT in there. Multiple fans were situated throughout the bar but none of them seemed to have much effect or a large enough radius… the one redeeming factor was the presence of two pool rooms, which occupied our group’s attention for a while, until we could stand the heat no more.
I don’t typically frequent bars in Old Sac, but based on this experience, this is on my «skip» list next time we’re hopping around the area.

I love to go to this bar! The bartender is so macho, it makes me happy to see him dance.

Pool tables for funsies in seperate rooms. Big open floor with a few tables to sit at and decent sized bar. Not much décor to speak of so it felt cold and bare. Came in on a Saturday with 6 others at about 10pm and there were just a couple other people there. Strong drinks and attentive, friendly staff made it a more enjoyable experience. I had what they call the Dirty Pirate Hooker which my group agreeded on as being the best of the evening’s drinks out of the 4 bars we dropped in at. The place is very OK but it needs some perking up.

Cheap drinks. Cash only (which I disliked because the ATM charges 2.75 for withdrawal). Nice underground, speakeasy type place. A lot better places though

We went here for new years 14 me+2 for a friends bad wolfhouse, they were rocking.
So we arrive @930 an the manager says it’s 15 a head so we watch the awesome fireworks an head back an the nice but small security guard gets us in for 15 for all 3? Better then 15 each. So we get some drinks, audios M.f. 8 – 9 dollars. Bar tenders we’re slow measuring an 10 min wait with 3 bartenders an 30 people at the bar isn’t that hard. But why would they turn paying people away, as they said at capacity, when it was no where near crowded.
Service was poor, bartenders overwhelmed but they gave it there best. Security was the bright spot, kind an helpful.

So I visit Sacramento on business often and always enjoy my nightcap with Vega’s. Great people, strong drinks, $ 2 kami’s with check in! Cheers.

I have gone to Vegas a few times and I am never disappointed. No matter what you can always get personal attention if you need anything from the staff. The owner is always friendly. The drinks are good with a good price that won’t leave you broke by the end of the night. There is plenty of space so you never feel like you are packed in a tuna can and can’t walk around. Vegas is one of my favorite hot spots around. I like it, my friends like, and it is a great place to relax and enjoy the time. It is also a great place to have events, the owner is very flexible and works with you to get everything just right.

Horrible experience, this place is a joke.
On first walking in, you notice the set up of this place is odd. It is below another business, and is made up of a series of smallish rooms and hallways. Now while the setup is strange, it is not so off-​putting it could not be overcome with good service and a well run bar. Sadly Vega’s does not possess either of these.
The next thing we noticed was the temperature. It was SO HOT in there, seriously, so hot everyone had to keep taking breaks and going outside to cool off, and it was in the mid 90s outside! An employee told us the owner (who was just sitting at the bar uncomfortable watching the patrons the whole time) is cheap and will only turn on the AC if he himself is hot. I can’t imagine anyone being comfortable at the temp the bar was at.
The walls of the bar are plastered with beer and alcohol signs, which is pretty standard, but most of what was depicted on the wall art, was not carried there. Annoying. Out of the limited items they do carry, they were out of many of them. Most people in our group had to go with 2^nd, 3^rd or even 4^th choices. Even more annoying.
On top of all of this service was sorely lacking. It took forever to get a drink, often because the servers were too busy chatting with the owner and his friends? coworkers? co owners? really not sure, but it was obvious the owner and his posse are far more important than the clientele here. The younger girl serving was very friendly when she did get to you, but the older woman working was out and out rude.
…and then there were the bathrooms. Imagine a gas station bathroom on a busy interstate in the middle of nowhere. Yup, gross.
Im guessing they are of the mindset here at Vega’s that they are in Old Town, and there is a built in clientele in that location, so customer service and running a business well, are things they do not need to concern themselves with. Heck maybe they are right, they might be able to get by on tourist business and not have to worry about repeat business. Whatever the case, me and my friends will not be returning to this (hot as) Hell hole.

This place is not the place to be.
My husband and our two friends came in to this place around 9 on a Wednesday night (alright, alright, it was Wednesday. BUT still. It’s old Sac and there’s always something going on). There was the bartender, a guy at the bar (pretty sure he worked there), and us four.
They seriously only have about five beers on tap and a few in the bottle. They have tons of posters for beers that they do not serve.
They have pool tables but they do not have music. Needless to say, we left!

Middle of the road for this bar, when i entered it was DEAD only a few people for a Saturday night.
Cash only, kinda sucks when you carry ATM card only, but they have an ATM that charges you 2.00 $ service fee if your into paying fees.
Drinks were good not to strong.
