Winsol Groundworks

This review is based on the lack of service. I emailed their website and left a voicemail message with no response. What I’ve found based on my endless hunt to find a landscaper, is it doesn’t hurt to find one through craigslist. I utilized Unilocal to find the tried and true ‘s, but I’ve been 0 for 3 in terms of responsiveness from the companies reviewed on Unilocal.I’m not advertising for craigslist, but based on my experience have found better luck in at least getting them to call me back and even coming out to my home to provide quote. Again, I didn’t have an opportunity to talk to anyone from company. I contacted based solely on the Unilocal reviews. Disappointed and frustrated to day the least.

I got several estimates from highly rated concrete contractors on Unilocal but only one, Winsol Groundworks, gave me a written estimate. All the others just talked and never gave me anything in writing or email and they all said they would. I’m a licensed contractor and the law states you must provide a written estimate.
Will, the owner, was on time and professional as was his crew. I’m very happy with the work and I’ll call Winsol Groundworks when I get the money to pour a proper backyard patio.

Recently hired Winsol to fix some drainage issues in my backyard. The estimate, work and follow up was extremely prompt, efficient and fairly priced. The estimate, invoice and payments were online making it super easy for me to be a satisfied customer.

I had a paver stone patio installed in my front yard by the Winsol Groundworks crew and I am extremely happy with the work they have done. Professional quick and easy to work with. These guys were great all around

Winsol was a fantastic company to work with. Originally they came as a referral from a colleague. I contacted them and they were quick to respond, came on-​site to do an estimate. The whole project went very smooth. We had some turf excavation, concrete and sprinkler system work done. Quote/​estimate was very detailed and each component was itemized. They were also very flexible in changing various items with me, multiple times before we started the project.
The whole project took 2 days and folks were efficiently getting the work done. Project manager Will, whom I worked with was very professional and provided great leadership to his team. Communication with him was very fast (email/​phone calls/​text). Customer service was 5 stars.
Will/​WinSol have customer service as a priority and it shows. They ensured the project was done right (which it was done right the first time already) and provided a follow-​up walk through. You may not get the lowest quote from them, but keep in mind that the job will get done right with no-​corners cut.
I will definitely work and refer them for any landscaping project and look forward to working with them in the future. I didn’t even have to be home for the work to be done. Thank you Will and WINSOL!

We had a terrific experience with Winsol Groundworks. From the first time we met him, Will was professional, easy-​going, and thoughtful in his approach to our project. We took a bit of time to decide what we wanted done, and each time we contacted Will he patiently talked through any additional questions we had.
Every project has some surprises. We had a couple; Will plus Dave handled them with professionalism and fairness that I found refreshing.
In the end we could not have been happier with the way our backyard remodel turned out. These guys did a great job!
And to boot, Will has been back several times to make sure that everything still looks good and is functioning well.
That’s another sign of a good company. I would recommend Winsol to anyone doing backyard work and concrete work.

Very organized, on time, they helped us define what we wanted, and then they did what we specified.

We met with Nicholas from Winsol Groundworks. Both he and his crew were professional. He arrived to all our meetings on time and was very attentive to the suggestions my wife and I provided. He listed out potential gotchas in our ideas and suggested appropriate workarounds for it. He also suggested design ideas some of which we adopted. Every change was properly documented in an estimate with the cost associated with the change. We even changed the work order to remove some items after the contract was signed and Winsol was accommodating to that too.
Before the work by Winsol, the yard was graded towards the house and would have water stagnate all around it. A week after the work was completed we had rains and the drains/​grading was tested and it worked great! no standing water!
Nick had a couple of samples prepared for the stamped concrete for us to approve before it was poured at my home so that we knew exactly what we were going to get. The details were done well especially the hand painted grout line for the flagstone finish. Overall a great finish.
The crew was careful not to damage anything when they were working and left the job site clean every day.
Overall a great experience.

First project I hired Winsol for was concrete work – stamped and stained driveway, two patios, and sidewalks running to the back of the house. This was a fairly extensive project which required a lot of demo. and planning (at least in my opinion). Wil did a great job of understanding what I wanted. The crew was polite, efficient, hard working, and even helped a little with the design process. I liked their work so much, I hired them again to do a boulder retaining wall. Again, Wil had a good idea of what I was looking for, and helped make suggestions. And again, the crew was polite, efficient, and very hard working. I would hire them again.

After getting 5 estimates to do our front and back landscaping, which involved hardscaping too, we chose Winsol. I appreciated Will’s thoroughness and knowledge. I had a vision and Will talked me through my ideas and gave me his and we came up with a plan. Then I met the crew on day one. Omar was the foreman and for most of the project Benito was his crew. They worked very well together, as did the other crew members throughout the project. I was impressed by many things, their enthusiasm, professionalism, ideas, consideration, knowledge, the list goes on and on, and a big part for me, their constant CLEANLINESS! Even while this project was taking place we had other work done at the same time with other companies and they were to put it simply PIGS! I am a believer in leaving something the same or better then you find it and this was always the case with Winsol! I did not have to go behind them everyday and make it livable for our puppy to use her facilities without getting into a mess! Even our neighbors would come over and comment about their work ethic and cleanliness! The project progressed well and with only a few delays it was completed! WE LOVE OUR NEW YARD and STEPS! We get compliments on it constantly! Now it’s time to shop for plants, as I wanted to do this part on my own since I like it! If there was 10 stars to give Winsol I would do so! Thank you Will for being SO SO patient with me, my questions, my change of plans, and my ideas! And Thank you OMAR and BENITO for getting the job done perfectly!!! And for ALL of you for being such a PLEASURE to work with!!!

I called Winsol Groundworks to help prepare my parents’ home for sale. Will responded immediately and created an affordable and attractive plan for their neglected ¹⁄₃ acre lot. His pleasant crew worked quickly and competently. We are more than pleased with the results. Winsol Groundworks went above and beyond and I highly recommend them. They did an excellent job that dramatically improved the appearance of the house.

Like another reviewer, we give Winsol five stars, wishing it could be ten. Will and his remarkable crew transformed our yard. Will planned the landscaping and everything was planted with the emphasis on drought resistant. The crew poured cement steps, made wood benches, moved and added stone, did electrical work, put in a railroad tie. It seems Winsol does everything but build swimming pools.
The most amazing thing for us was to have one business do it ALL so efficiently and so expertly. There were rainy days when the crew simply put on yellow slickers and kept working. Before it ended the knowledgeable cement expert (with 25 years of experience) advised us on other cement problems around our foundation and Will, working with an already existing shell to hide an air conditioner, cleverly made a new structure using the old materials.
Winsol will be returning to us in the spring for other projects and our son will be using them for his new home. We found Winsol because our neighbor used them for their front yard and we watched them transform it so quickly, efficiently and beautifully.
Passing on their name to friends falls into the category of sharing the name of your favorite babysitter or giving away a prized family recipe. They are that good!

We had just had a pool put in our backyard and we had a beautiful pool and deck, but the rest of the backyard and a good part of the front yard was trashed. The process of having the pool done had taken its toll (no one I have talked to has really had a great experience with pool businesses), and we were hesitant to hire on anyone to come do more work at the house. However, we wanted to enjoy our pool over the summer and not spend it doing all the work that needed to be done or attempting to relax with so many projects all around us.
We had wanted to add a walkway with steps in our front yard for some time, and since the pool company’s equipment had left such a mess of the front yard, we decided we might as well ask for a quote on steps. I also wanted a small sitting area in the front of the house with a sitting wall. Since we wanted quite a bit of concrete in the front yard and landscaping in the front and back, I wanted to find one place that could coordinate all the work.
I called a few places. Will at Winsol Groundworks was able to come to our home and talk to us right away. His estimate came very quickly and was very easy to understand. He was extremely courteous and I felt that he really took the time to listen to what we wanted. He was also willing to give suggestions in areas we weren’t quite sure what to do. Honestly, other places didn’t get back to us, or had to reschedule appointments and despite the job being large and something I would normally want to compare prices, we ultimately had a great feeling about Winsol and would have chosen them even if another estimate came back lower.
I am so happy with the work that was completed. We had steps put in the front yard that turned out better that I had hoped. I love my sitting area and wall as well. It is a great place to sit in the evening and watch the kids play. The landscaping in the front and back turned out great. We also had them do lighting around our pool and in the front yard. They used quality lighting which was expensive, but I love it and could not be happier that we decided to get it. They also installed, or should I say, reinstalled, some pavers that we had leading to our shed. We had pulled them up when the pool work was done. We ended up having a larger path put in which required more pavers. The crew did a great job incorporating different colored pavers (we wanted to reuse existing pavers, but couldn’t find the exact same colors for the additional pavers) and the result is better than before. They even used concrete edging so the pavers will stay in place. They also built a nice fence around our pool equipment and of course, replaced the lawn and sprinker system in the front and back
What I really appreciate, is the consideration from everyone at the company. Communication was excellent. Sometimes we would get a call from Will-​who works mostly with the soft scape and David-​who works mostly with the hard scape. We were well informed, and consulted on any decisions. We knew when workers would be here and they were here on time. They were professional and always cleaned up when they left. I would highly recommend this company and if I ever need any additional work in the yard, I am happy to know who to call.

I love my new backyard. It is all they promised and more. I am not a gardener, and Will helped me to select low maintenance plants that suit me and they are beautiful. The patio is exactly the color I wanted, the retaining wall is great. They provided a progress report everyday. They have followed up to check that the plants are still healthy. The foreman Valentin and Paulino did most of the work; they cleaned up every night before they left and they worked hard while they were here. I can’t say enough good things about this company. If I have another project, I will definitely use them.

After saving for months to do something with our tired, overgrown backyard, I started calling around to get some quotes. One guy quoted me so low I couldn’t believe it was real and then confirmed my suspicions by never even following up with a written quote, email or phone call. I had another guy who quoted me insanely high for only 2/​3rds of the work WinSol eventually did beautifully for me.
Will showed up and even gave me courtesy call to let me know he was 15 minutes behind in traffic. We walked through the yard and I just pointed out everything I hated and I told him I didn’t have a lot of ideas because I didn’t know much about landscaping. He jumped right in with ideas and explained them so I could understand and even picture the outcome.
As the list of things I wanted grew, he asked me to give him an idea of my budget and then even suggested a few more ideas. He told me he was excited to get back to the office and get a quote emailed to me within the hour and he was certain I would be so happy with the price, I might decide to add a couple other things I had in mind.
He was right.
I had concrete poured, a tree removed, plants added, gravel, mulch, and they even had a few extra ideas (at no cost) to get around some obstacles when getting ready to pour the concrete. They fixed my sprinkler system and put in a drip system for the climbing plants I had added along a back wall.
The crew working on the job were courteous and thoughtful and I felt comfortable with them hanging out all day in my backyard.
Will came by a couple days after the work was finished and we did a walk through together to make sure everything was exactly as we talked about. One of my trees wasn’t trimmed somehow during the process and he actually ran to his car and did it himself right then.
He was awesome and the whole experience was great. I can’t wait until we can call them again for the front yard.

To say I’m picky is probably an understatement. I know what I want and how I want it and love to look at details.
My almost 2 year old house came with a dirt backyard which over time became a yard full of weeds and dead brush. Hubby and I finally decided to remove the fire hazard and look into landscapers. Solinsky Gardens Unilocal page (company name before merging to become Winsol Groundworks) was very impressive and to be honest, it intimidated me a bit because the scope of our project wasn’t nearly as fancy as some of their other work. I contacted Will and scheduled a time for him to meet with me. When he came to our house, he described what he would do with our yard and it was almost identical to what I had in mind. He was very thorough in evaluating the yard and providing feedback. To do proper due diligence on my part, I met with several other landscapers, none of whom seemed as knowledgeable and thorough as Will.
I had a good feeling about him from the start and told close friends and family that I wanted to work with him, but the price was holding me back. After explaining our situation, Will suggested areas to modify or cut back on for the time being, so we moved forward.
He and his crew did not disappoint. 1.5 weeks later, our yard is done and looks better than I ever imagined it could. The extended patio and concrete walkway look great, the redwood planter boxes they built are high quality, the moss rock wall (which Will suggested as an alternative to other more expensive retaining walls) is so nice to look at, and the plant/​tree selection that Will guided us through was spot on. Whenever I was iffy on something, I called or emailed Will and many times he replied within 10 minutes. I feel like a parent who is bragging about their child, but our yard looks great! I highly recommend Will and Winsol Groundworks for your landscaping project and would hire these guys again for my next house ;). Pictures to follow.

Have worked with both Will and David on 2 separate jobs with Winsol. Did about 600 square feet of DG first, liked them enough to hire them on for a 10×13 concrete slab that ended up going within the DG. They replaced and re-​routed sprinklers as needed to keep everything watered (included in the price).
My contractor who worked with them to install the footers for an outdoor structure I’m doing was very impressed as well.
Their work is very clean and they’re professionals to the core. I will hire them again when I have more work for them to do.

I had a disappointing experience with Winsol. They came and gave me a quote for some landscaping work in my yard and did a great job of addressing all my needs and concerns. Their price had many line items in it with values for each so that I could decide what I wanted to include and exclude from the work. They were very good at working on the pricing with me and we got to a mutually agreeable scope of work.
Then I was sent a contract to sign that was more burdensome and detailed than a lot of other contracts out there that I’ve signed for home improvement work. Most of the language in the contract was fine, protecting both the homeowner and the contractor. But there were a couple sections in the contract that I felt put the homeowner at a legal disadvantage should any issues occur with the work after the start of construction.
I asked for revisions to be made to the contract so that it could be mutually agreeable, like the scope of work we collaborated on. When I asked for revisions to the contract language, it raised a red flag for Winsol that I was going to be someone that was likely to cause problems for them or might not pay them if something went wrong with the work, and they decided they didn’t want to do the job anymore.
I can understand that they want to protect themselves. As a business, times are hard and making sure you don’t expose yourself to risk is paramount to continued success. It’s just unfortunate that I know how to read a contract, because my landscaping plans were put on hold just days before the planned start of work.
Based on the reviews, I know that Winsol does a great job for many people in this area. I’m sure their work is high quality, and I know from working with them on scope and pricing that they do want to get you the end result you want as close to your budget as possible. If you don’t mind signing a very detailed contract that may reduce your legal rights or protection from issues arising during construction, then you should have no problems with Winsol.

We contracted with WinSol Groundworks to landscape our backyard in July and were so pleased that we immediately contracted with them to landscape our frontyard. The before and after is unbelievable! Our front yard is so beautiful and inviting and our backyard is now a lovely place to enjoy with company or just quietness. The most important part of the beautiful results is how wonderful it was to work with Will, David and their crew. From the moment we met for an estimate to the day I had to say goodbye was beyond positive. The professionalism, respect, courtesy, and pleasantness was a delight. I actually miss having them here!
To complete the transformation of our backyard, we contracted with a couple of other companies as we thought it best to work within their expertise. I can honestly say I wish now we had asked WinSol Groundworks to take care of everything. Although the outcome is OK it is certainly not extraordinary as with the work from WinSol Groundwork.
