Reber & Foley Service Center

Fantastic customer service!
I had a dead battery and couldn’t get my car in to Reber and Foley. They drove the tow truck out to me and jump started my car. Then, they drove behind me to the service center to ensure I got there ok. (Oh, and they only charged me for the jump start.) The price to replace my battery was reasonable, and the service was quick! They are friendly, honest, and well-​priced! I will absolutely be using them again!

You know the feeling… when you pickup your car from a repair shop and you drive away thinking you paid too much and the car probably won’t even make it home? Well, those days are over for me, because I discovered Reber & Foley. (It may sound like a commercial, but I’m serious!) Our family usually drives newer cars, but when they start aging and repairs are needed, we’ve taken many of our cars to this place, and it’s saved us a lot of money and frustration. Reber & Foley has fair prices, they are great at showing and explaining issues, they compare part prices for me, and they give me a reasonable time for repairs. The mechanics are all very friendly and helpful, and they seem to really care that the car is fixed and the customers are happy. A couple years ago, I was picking up my car here, and I heard one of the mechanics going over some part prices with a grumpy old man. The man was super grouchy and told the mechanic he would «shop around» because he was sure he could get a better deal somewhere else. I remember looking at the mechanic and telling him that the grumpy old man would be back, because he wasn’t going to find a better deal (or service). I’m not sure if the grumpy guy ever came back, but I can guarantee you that we’d never go anywhere else.

I’ve been comming to Reber-​Foley for over 20 years and would go nowhere else. These guys are professional and honest. You do have to accept a lengthy appointment schedule, but the service is well worth it.

Excellent service center. The mechanics are highly professional and price is fair. The one week waiting list and the full parking lot tells you a lot how locals value their service. They are the better one of the two places I trust completely.

Jeremy & Joe are two of the very best mechanics in the Fox Valley – period – and the rest seem to work with them at Reber & Foley in St. Charles. I grew up in St. Charles, moving there in 1972, and have had work done by just about every one of the mechanics in the area over the years. Joe and Jeremy are spot on with their estimates, are courteous and helpful, and flexible when it comes to getting you in for work. Their work is solid and when they fix something it stays fixed. They managed to fix my Dad’s digital dash problem (1995 Impala SS) for $ 100 that everyone else wanted $ 1500 to do – by finding the circuit on the board that needed soldering! Who does that, right? I am SOLD on these guys and even though I live north of Hoffman Estates still take my car there.
You will not walk out feeling like you paid too much.

Replaced the power steering on my truck quickly and at a great price. These guys are great. You don’t have to worry about them trying to rip you off like some mechanics. Plan on always taking my vehicles here when they need serviced.

I brought in a used car for a same day pre-​purchase inspection. Jake, a solid old school mechanic who takes obvious pride in his work, completed a thorough check on the vehicle. He pointed out every possible flaw on the car and took the time to explain everything to me. After the inspection was done, he wrote down all of the major issues that I should discuss with the dealer and even gave me some valuable advice on purchasing a used car. $ 49.95 out the door — you really cannot beat the quality and price of this classic auto repair shop!

After the terrible experience I had at the St. Charles Midas (see my 1-​star review of that place), several people recommended going to Reber & Foley the next time. Not too long after that, I ended up with two flat tires and was just two blocks away from Reber & Foley — how convenient, right? I know a flat tire is not as big a deal as the major engine issues I dealt with at Midas, but everything about my Reber & Foley experience was just so much nicer! They didn’t try to rip me off and they spent a lot of time talking (nicely and clearly, not rudely or condescendingly) to me about what the problem was and how they fixed it. I really appreciated that, and I’m sure I’ll go back (although I finally got a new car and I’m hoping I won’t need to make as many service center visits as I used to!)

I was having problems with my girlfriend’s car leaking anti-​freeze so my pops & I looked at it. We thought it was something to do with the water pump and not the radiator but we’re not auto repair guys. My pops called them up because he has had some work done on his vehicles by them before and has been happy with the work… they said that if it was the water pump it would be $ 250 for the parts and labor. Called and they said they were open until 6 pm… so I stopped by around 5:30 on a Friday to have them look at the car. Joe (one of the owners… I don’t remember if he is the Reber or the Foley) looked at the car and showed me where there was a leak in the water pump. Went back inside and set-​up an appointment for Monday morning and they said they would have it back the same day.
We dropped the car off on Sunday night… dropped the keys in the mail slot with a note because I decided that I wanted them to also replace a belt that was squeaking and my rear license plate light (that had gotten me pulled over the month before because it was out). I called them on Monday morning to verify everything was able to be completed with the extra stuff I had added and they said no problem. My buddy gave me a ride over to the shop after work, the car was sitting out front… freshly washed… and when I went inside to pay he said it was $ 288 and some change. I was extremely happy with the price (with the initial quote being $ 250 for the water pump only and having them do the license plate light and belt replacement as well). Drove away that evening and have been completely satisfied with the repairs (that was about a week and a half ago). No more leaking anti-​freeze in my parking spaces, no more squeaking from the belt, and my license plate is now beautifully illuminated at night for all the police officers to see!
