Flying Cow Frozen Yogurt

I ended up coming here when a SLU group was doing a fundraiser. Before that, I never knew this place existed. They have pretty good ice cream. I suggest a mix of cake and strawberry ice cream with strawberries, coconut, and chocolate sauce for topping.

The froyo is always so runny! It’s almost like you’re drinking milk because it’s nearly liquid. Doubt I’ll come back unless someone drags me in…

maybe we just went at a bad time but there wasn’t very much fresh fruit at all. i guess that is usually the case at these places where you pay by weight. another trend i don’t appreciate in these pay by weight model is that your tasty treat is a lot more sugar than it is healthy for you. you choose all of your own add ons, but even the yogurts did not have much of a healthy choice. the non-​fat yogurts just added a lot of sugar. flying cow does not have a healthy probiotic choice (though many froyo places don’t even when they claim to).
All in all a tasty yogurt place. I highly recommend going for the full-​low fat yogurts instead of the non-​fat ones for fuller flavor. How they do it makes it more similar to icecream, custard, or gelato. The flavor doesn’t compare to the best of these less healthy flavors. But when you’re not healthy yogurt, this is really the better comparison.
Would definitely return but I’ll sooner be at coldstone, culvers, and ted drewes.

Over the weekend I stopped in with a friend to enjoy some frozen yogurt, we arrived shortly after 1pm and walked into an empty store. When we first walked into the empty store I thought that the employee was in the back, and would greet us shortly so we proceeded to get our cups and start building our creations. I looked over the selection of flavors I noticed a Chocolate Turtle Carmel frozen yogurt so I immediately headed right to that, only to discover a soupy mess coming from the machine. I dumped the mess, which had more of a chocolate milk like consistency, and tried another flavor only to discover nearly the same thing. At this point I had still not be greeted by an employee, so I decided to just toss the soupy mess and leave. I had high hopes for the Chocolate Turtle Carmel yogurt, however I was greatly disappointed with my experience at the Flying Cow.
The store was clean and the flavors sounded good (unsure of taste), however the lack of customer service, staff, and awful consistency helped decide on a single star for this experience with the Flying Cow.

I’m really not a big fro you fan in general. I mean… why not just have REAL ice cream or even custard? I guess that’s besides the point because other people love it.
This Flying Cow is a great spot to stop by for Fro Yo with a group of friends. They have plenty of seating inside and a really nice facilities. It’s like the Four Seasons of FroYo establishments.
The FroYo itself seemed pretty standard to me – a wide variety of flavors and tons of toppings. Nothing special.
Maybe you’ll find something unique about this FroYo other than the space!

This is a conveniently-​located, very good frozen yogurt company. It’s super close to the SLU campus near Compton and Lindell. It’s also kind of a neat place just because of it’s hole-​in-​the-​wall setting in a big brick building on a side street. Parking is metered street parking, with some spaces nearby that aren’t metered.
Anyway, on to the actual restaurant: I really like it. At any one time there are 8−10+ frozen yogurt flavors, with the potential to include about 14 – 16. They offer free sample tasting, of course.
My favorite flavors here are the Dutch Chocolate and the Cake Batter… other good ones to me are the Strawberry Banana and the Peanut Butter ones. What’s nice is, they also have a large variety of toppings offered: anything from candy to chocolate to fruit to nuts. Their prices are extremely reasonable too.
The yogurt flavors and quality of the toppings are great. I wouldn’t say it’s the best in the world, but it’s definitely really tasty and as good as any other frozen yogurt joint I’ve tried in St. Louis.
This place is really clean on the inside and has good customer service. One downside is that big groups would not work in here (as in most fro-​yo places) because of only a few table options, all of which are permanent in position and offer 2 – 4 seats per table. Otherwise, it’s still a really good place and I come here pretty often with small groups of friends.

Why aren’t there more fro yo places in the city? WHY? After a lovely Food Truck Friday, I was in need of fro yo, in a bad way. So I pulled out my handy Unilocal app and realized that I had limited options. So we waddled on over. Now I’m used to the 18-​year old cashier who could care less about her job or me, but I had issues this night. I went to sample the peanut butter and it was straight liquid. Then I tried another one, same problem. I asked about it and got a half ass answer about how if they aren’t used very often they get watery. Regardless of the truth, it annoyed me as I wanted FROZEN yogurt. So I settled on the only flavor that didn’t resemble diarrhea and it wasn’t good and I was sad. For the rest of the night. I hope you’re happy cute cow for crushing my frozen desert dreams that night.

Most frozen yogurt places seem to put all their energy into the toppings. This place has good quality yogurt, so that the toppings become the after-​thought that they should be.
MIght be the best or second best in the area (after that place out in U-​City which gets overrun by teenagers and has all sorts of attitude issues, leading me to not even bother reviewing, in spite of their good quality stuff.)
Flying Cow is also very kid-​friendly and open Mondays.

I hate to say it, but this is the bottom for me in froyo. The froyo lacks flavor and creativity. I wasn’t even sure what I was eating was cake batter it was like eating some substance with no flavor, without the topics i probably would’ve thrown it away. The mint chocolate was over top in flavor and i felt like i was eating mint straight from a bottle.
It is really hard for me to give a 1 star review, but i don’t know what all the raving reviews area all about. For those of you that give it 5 stars maybe you need to try other places.

Another frozen yogurt place in St Louis. Pink Leaf this, Blue Mango that. Quite frankly, it’s getting hard to tell them apart. Flying Cow is bright, clean and has a good selection of flavors and toppings. It’s good to see more businesses transforming Midtown. I’d definitely come here again.

This place is in high standings with me. I can put what I want in a cup and top it off with whatever else I want. I believe that is called a win win situation.
I grab a big cup, fill it with Cheesecake and Peanut butter and maybe something else like a chocolate or something, Mochi is a must then some pretzels.
That’s what is up, makes the fat kid in me very happy.

The Flying Cow is a perfectly fine place to purchase frozen yogurt. On a recent Friday night, the venue looked clean, but the interior design was so minimalist that it felt rather barren. A 20ish crowd filled the place, a dutiful employee rang us out, and the yogurt and toppings were good. If I lived in the neighborhood, then I’d probably be a frequent customer. But there wasn’t really anything so interesting or unique about the place that I’d make a special trip. Put the same equipment in any retail space, give it a name that tests well with a focus group, keep your operation stocked and sanitary, and, voila, you have a neighborhood fro-​yo shop.

Another Frozen Yogurt shop in the area? I have to try it and I am glad I did! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was top notch.
Upon walking in I was greeted by Zachary, who deserves Employee of the Month. Then I was eager to sample their flavors. I love the sample cups that yogurt shops have. I literally tried about 5 flavors before making a decision. Can you believe they thin mint? So good! Oh, and Cookies and Cream was just as delicious as it sounds. They also have cake batter, my normal go-​to flavor at any yogurt shop. I had to make a decision, but the peanut butter was so good too!
Ultimately I decided on cookies and cream and peanut butter. I think I also added some cake batter. I had a lot going on in my cup. Moving on to the toppings; m&m’s are always a hit since they are my favorite candy. I also added pretzels, whip cream, and sprinkles. I was a little saddened when they didn’t have fruity pebbles-​I love that cereal on my yogurt. It’s such a unique flavor. Who cares, I knew it was going to be tasty regardless.
As I was paying for my Flying Cow I was excited to receive my punch card! Yes, I will be back and in fact, I went back 3 days later for another experience much different than the first… to be continued…

Flying Cow is pretty good. I think it’s the best froyo I’ve had in St. Louis so far; it beats FroYo and Orange Leaf hands down.
But the reason why it’s so awesome lies in one of its unsung employees: Vincent. His real name is Zachary, but he’s got to go by Vincent because seriously, how many girls screaming your name can you take? Flying Cow could take away all the froyo and the toppings, leave the Ghiradelli toppings and Vincent, and I’m pretty sure business might just take off so fast, flying cows might just be a reality.
So they have like rotating flavors, but there’s always at least twelve, and there’s even levers you can pull to do the mixing for you! I’m not a big fan of fruit-​flavored dairy products (agree with Tracey all the way here)…but if you are… go for it. I happen to think that if you’re going to go with dessert, you might as well just go the extra mile: Thin Mint, Cake Batter, and Cookies and Cream. Ok, I realize the last is kinda redundant… but think of it like a double espresso or something. The froyo is fabulous… choose your flavors and just go with it.
The toppings are kind of another matter. I feel like there are not as many toppings as Orange Leaf or even FroYo nor are the toppings as fresh. Don’t get the boba bubbles; they taste really weird. The brownie bites taste manufactured. At least the cookie dough bites were good. There are also three Ghiradelli topping choices at the end.
Pick up a card to get a free $ 4.00 purchase after you’ve bought 10. Cost is about 42 cents an ounce, which pretty much parallels the other yogurt shops.

The best frozen yogurt I’ve ever tasted.
They had an amazing assortment of flavors. If you’re one of those weirdos who likes fruit-​flavored dairy products (strawberry milk? VOM!!!), you’ll shit yourself with berry goodness when you see the exotic shit this place has. Couldn’t tell ya what they were since I breezed straight over those and went for Thin Mint, Cake Batter, and Cheesecake. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! By far the best I’ve ever had. Smooth, rich, great flavor. QUALITY!
I don’t really care about toppings, but they had ‘em.
WONDERFUL service, better vibe and environment than most frozen yogurt places, and free wi-​fi.
I’ll stop loving this place when… cows fly out of my… hiney.
Don’t let the fact that I put the word «hiney» and talking about shitting yourself in this review deter you from the best frozen yogurt you will ever taste in your freaking life.
Also, the guy who served us was amazing. I forget his name, which sucks, because I was supposed to nominate him for Employee of the Month. For now I’m gonna call him Vincent.
Also— that brick wall– so gorgeous. Although I can’t help but think it would be the perfect spot for customer graffiti.

Anyway ice cream, frozen yogurt, custard, etc. is my weakness… I love it all! Especially now that it is summer, it quenches my thirst for dessert.
The Flying Cow has a good mix of flavors and toppings. Lots of unusual fruity flavors (e.g. blueberry acai and pink grapefruit) along with the usual chocolate, peanut butter, vanilla, etc. One topping I hadn’t seen at similar froyo places was chocolate covered waffle pieces, which were a great addition to my peanut butter ice cream!
On top of their quality products, the guy who was working was great! We overstayed our welcome by a few minutes and he wasn’t even pushing us out the door… now that is a good employee right there!
All-​in-​all, check out the Flying Cow and treat yourself to a delicious dessert!

I enjoy this place a lot, mostly because it’s close to my apartment (within walking distance) and I can eat my sweet treat, walk it off, and feel no guilt! The shop is spacious and lighting is really nice, they also have punch cards which is a win/​win for me!
They have some awesome froyo options and I love that they have a lot of fat free/​low sugar and sorbet options. Their candy/​fruit selection is vast and they never let things run low. Most workers are students from SLU nearby and are extremely friendly. They also have a fun board near the check out with a «mix of the week» where they combine two yogurts and toppings to create something awesome: aka blueberry cheesecake: blueberry froyo + new york cheesecake froyo +blueberries and granola on top= blueberry cheesecake.

Mooooooo! Hehehehe. :) Honestly, I love the name of this place, which is why I went out of my way to try it! It’s really close to SLU and I was surprised by how empty it was on a Friday night (around 6 pm and in hindsight, it was empty because people were having real dinner).
Anyway, my friends and I walked into the place and I immediately loved it. There are two entrances. One is right next to the seating area. The other, the one we came in from, was next to the cups for self-​serving froyo. Like FroYo on the loop, you get your cups, you get your froyo, you get your toppings and you pay for it. Unlike FroYo on the loop, you have a good 5 – 6 yards for each section. It’s nice and spacious and I didn’t feel all cluttered and crowded. Point for Flying Cow!
They had really great flavors! I think I tried most of them that day. Their pomagranate raspberry wasn’t as amazing as FroYo’s, but their Mango was better. The Thin Mint Cookie flavor was great as was the cake batter and vanilla. I agree with Stephanie S. The red velvet was just meh.
Anyway, ny friend and I sat down and had froyo. There was plenty of tables inside and I didn’t feel crowded at all. Bonus point!
All in all, this is a great place to go for froyo with friends. I’m definitely coming back!

Not bad! Had some yummy froyo with the always awesome Allison B. on a quiet Sunday afternoon.
The place itself is bright, spacious, and clean. There were lots of different froyo flavors to try, and as always when I visit a new froyo place, I had to sample all of the flavors that sounded tasty to me.
I tried cake batter (yum), thin mint (not bad!), red velvet (meh), and vanilla.
Since I’m boring, I went with vanilla topped with strawberries. It was simple, yet delicious! It totally hit the spot.
I would definitely come back if I was in the area. I just hope the place survives! It’s in a nondescript area, and other than two other patrons, me and Allison were the only ones in the place.
