Specialties
John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub and Garden is known across the Midwest for featuring the finest Irish cuisine around. Staples like Corned Beef and Cabbage, Guinness Stew, and Fish and Chips are always favorites, but we also offer a wide selection of steak and fish entrees, always priced reasonably with healthy portions.
We carry 16 draft beers and countless bottled beers, an extensive whiskey and scotch menu, and an inviting wine list to compliment any menu item.
We boast a fabulous four season garden that features over 60 tables, 3 full service bars, and a breathtaking 9-foot waterfall. It has long been known as the best outdoor dining experience in the city.
And, of course, starting between 8pm and 9pm, we have live Irish music 7 nights a week. Tuesday thru Saturday we feature bands that travel in direct from Ireland to play on the Famous Front Bar Stage. On Sundays and Mondays we have terrific local acts that delight patrons each week.
Can’t wait to see you! Slainte!
History
Established in 1978.
John D. McGurk’s was opened in 1978 by a local attorney, Jim Holloran, as a one room pub house with one distinct feature: Live Irish Music Seven Nights a Week. Since 1978, McGurk’s has grown in size and stature, but music on the Famous Front Bar Stage has been the constant.
While Jim is still the principle owner, his four sons now play active roles at the pub he started in 1978. Joined by a staff of nearly 100 that is second to none, the Holloran Family remains the proud owners of John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub and Garden.

«McGurk’s Public House is in an historic place, in the old section of the boomtown, and the sister-pub to John D’s.»
