The Shabby Chic Bride

I happened across this place on FaceBook this morning and decided I would go look as they had a very beautiful dress selection. Very friendly staff that were very helpful. We were able to look at the dresses and talk and try them on without interruption, while still having help when needed. Found the most beautiful dress in less than an hour! Great prices without sacrificing style. A true hidden gem!

A group of 7 of us (ranging in ages from 12 to 55) came in on a Saturday and we had a blast. There was lots of laughter and champagne and even a few tears. My best friend, the bride, came in with low expectations of finding her wedding dress at the first place we looked, let alone a consignment shop. Not only did she find an AMAZING dress, she also found a very reasonably priced dress for her rehearsal diner. 2 dresses in less than two hours! The lady working was extremely friendly, bringing in needed accessories, etc. She was the perfect amount of helpful! She wasn’t in the dressing room with us, nor was she bringing in a bunch of expensive dresses. She just showed us were we needed to look for the sizes we needed and then let us forage on our own, even though we create somewhat of a disaster out of the store. She quietly came around and picked up everything we were done with. She was never in the way but she was always there when she was needed. She was perfect. I would definitely recommended this establishment. Book an appointment, bring your favorite people and a bottle (or three) of champagne and you’ll have a wonderful experience. It’s safe to say that our group of girls can have fun no matter where we go, but this place was very accommodating to our crazy fun bride-​to-​be. THANK YOU!

While I didn’t get my dress here nor have I consigned here before, I have to say I love this place! They are kind and considerate and sweet and the idea of consigning and thrifting wedding dresses is truly a gem! you get a steal of a deal and there are BEAUTIFUL dresses. They carry a lot of different styles and they also had a LOT of modest options! the money you save buying from here will afford you the ability of paying for altering too!
I tried on so many wonderful dresses, and I’m a curvy girl! They can always use more stock in plus size, I’m sure. But they had a great selection! They have a new location from the first time I went, so check the address!
My only tip? I’d love for them to be open more hours! I had to take time off work to go down there :)

I took my wedding dress there, got a call in June saying that my wedding dress (worth thousands) hadn’t sold and asked if I was willing to lower the price and they would keep it for 6 months; I agree as long as SHE would reassure me they would contact me and if it hadn’t sold then they would call me and I would then go pick it up. Which she replied «oh definitely».
I called them everyday this week to find out if it had sold cause I wasn’t going to wait and I’d just go pick it up…
Someone finally called me back stating that the dress wasn’t picked up so they DONATED IT! WTF!!! she went on to say that «her manager» documented that our conversation in June was that she told
me I had til to July to pick it up then it would be donated! And that they sent both letters and emails without reply!!! Are you kidding me!!! I GOT NOTHING! No phone calls, no emails and no letters!!! And are you seriously going to tell me that they only sell wedding attire and they are going to DONATE a current style expensive wedding gown!!!
My gut is telling me that either the manager lied by documenting the above, sold the dress and pocketed the $$$$ or the owner is part of this HUGE SCAM!!!

****i only gave this 1 star only because I had to… for the record this IS THE FIRST TIME EVER OF WRITING A BAD REVEIW FOR ANY BUSINESS BECAUSE THIS IS BEYOND ASTONISHING.
THINGS TO KNOW:
1. I have absolutely no reason to lie, and would NEVER write a bad review for malice and my time is too valuable to banter.
2. I obviously have no sentimental attachment to the dress or I wouldn’t have tried to sell it. My husband and I don’t need the money but it would’ve been nice to get something back.
3. It must have ALSO been a coincidence that the 6 mo deadline was December so I CALLED LAST WEEK TO GET MY STUFF BACK. (Mid November)
4. I got a donation slip on The Shabby Chic letterhead. They COULD NOT give me proof that my dress was actually donated to their so called donation sites. *** as a business the IRS would need some type of way to track if items were sold or donated and to where. Even when you donate to goodwill you get a goodwill slip. (Partly why I believe they sold it or considered it a donation TO themselves)
Last but not LEAST NOTHING IS WORSE THAN SOMEONE THAT STEALS OR LIES TO YOU… IN THIS CASE I FEEL IT WAS BOTH.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED FROM THIS EXPERIENCE IS… consign at your own risk (I would not recommend this place to anyone for consignment and do NOT believe what you are told unless you get it in writing. Unfortunately I believed what the manager told me.

The staff are incredibly down to earth and patient. Although I did not purchase a dress from them, I plan to visit again since I have not been as impressed with other bridal stores in the Portland/​Salem areas. They have a lot of dresses in various sizes with large size dressing rooms. I came from Beaverton and it was definitely worth the trip.
