Auntie Rae’s Dessert Island

We stopped in when it first opened… by the looks of the most recent reviews, people seem to like this place so I may need to give it another try. Had the ice cream which was non-​dairy (that’s like praying with your eyes open) — yech! May have to try it again…

This place was awesome! Excellent at grandmas house feel. If you get a chance check out the upstairs. I wanna come here with 5 friends and drink hot coco together while we chat about life. We were greeted my a very nice hostess and it felt like I was in a small village in Ireland or… Man! The peach stru pie was insane! I’d share it next time but … No way… I’ll never share this pie! This place would make a fun party place or tea party place for the kids too. Fun idea.

Good desserts and glad it’s open until later! My friend and I were out shopping until late and wanted to stop and get something sweet before parting ways. This is a great place to chat! Friendly staff too.

We were looking for a place where we could have a good desert. We found this place and decided to check it out.
The place is really cute. Nice setup.
The desserts were exactly what we were looking for. We had the soft serve pineapple, triple berry pie and the chocolate cookie Sunday. We will be returning here soon.

Came here for a St Patrick’s day event and finally got to try out this place after one of my friend told me about it. Finding this place won’t be that hard cause there is a sign outside that says its name if your looking for it, but you will get way confuse. This place is just a refurbished home that got turned into s dessert shop. There are plenty of different rooms that you can go chill in and feel like you’re eating dessert at home.
At the event we have a bunch of finger food. The best thing there honestly was their cucumber sandwiches. You would think their dessert would impress me more due to this place being a dessert café. There was a bunch of green drinks but I love their green apple drink.
One of the dessert that’s really impress me a bit was their fudge chocolate brownie. It was super moist and not so sweet. Their cookies wasn’t that impressive for me and their red velvet cake was a bit dry and not chocolatey in my opinion.
All in all I did enjoy the relaxing atmosphere here and would totally come back just to chill with a cup of hot chocolate or something. There is a bunch of games for you and your friends to play to keep the laughter going.

I visited during a tasting event with Unilocal and it was really awesome. The owner is a fantastic and sweet woman who makes amazing tea sandwiches and desserts. They are open late for a nice dessert after an evening out. They have tea parties! I love that! I know my friends and my niece would love it! Definately worth a visit.

Was fortunate enough to attend a Unilocal event yesterday at this cute «homey» place. We’re treated to some finger sandwiches, beverages, fruit, cheese/​cracker plates. But the best part were the desserts! Very rich fudge brownie, shamrock sugar cookie and a killer cranberry white chocolate cookie. I seriously need the recipe for that cookie. When I’m in the area, a stop will be made to not only purchase a few cookies, but their pies looked pretty darn good. I need to mention that the owner is a very nice lady who will treat you right.

What an interestingly, simple, fun, tasty place to visit. I visited this hidden desert treasure during a Unilocal event and was surprised to find a cool little find.
Finding it set back away from the street was a little tricky, but once found, you will find it to be like visiting your aunt’s house. The décor reminded me of an eclectic world travelers home. The layout is chopped up into small rooms that feel more like family rooms then a restaurant. At times, I felt like a was snooping through someone’s house, but kept remembering this is a business.
The food was excellent. The cucumber sandwiches are simple, but oh so good. The cookies, yum! The cake was good, and the dole ice cream took me back to my childhood at Disneyland.
Staff treated us very nicely and seemed super friendly. All and all can’t complain.
This is a sure fire hit for families, teens on dates, kids having parties, or small groups getting together.

This place is a true gem. An old converted house with lots of interesting history, Auntie Rae’s is a fantastic place to hang out with friends and indulge in a variety of delicious treats. It’s certainly a great place for adults, but it doesn’t stop there. Auntie Rae can also host tea parties for young patrons – if you have a daughter under the age of 13, she’ll think she died and went to heaven. Seriously.
Where else can you find a bakery which is open until midnight and encourages you to relax for an extended stay? Much like Disneyland, it is impossible to not be happy while you’re here.

I had the great privilege of coming to Auntie Rae’s tonight. I was very impressed with her hospitality, the gorgeous setting of her restaurant, and the variety of tasty treats that she serves.
I sampled a smattering of delectable little delights such as the fudge cake, the cranberry white chocolate cookies, her shortbread, her dole whip Sprite floats, and several other things. I was impressed with the wide variety that she offers and how well each of them was prepared.
For example, the fudge cake had a nice delicate flavor and was incredibly moist. Her cranberry white chocolate cookies were buttery and rich. Her dole whip had the perfect balance between tart and sweet.
I plan to come back soon and I anticipate that my rating will bump up from four stars to five after I try some more of her offerings. This isn’t one of those typical Utah bakeries where they simply load up each item with granulated sugar and no flavor. If you are in the area and craving thoughtfully and artfully prepared foods, make sure to stop by!

Sooo good! Being pi day, we had to have pie! This place looked like a good option so we tried it. We had a hard time choosing, so we got three pieces. The berry pie was fantastic and the chocolate moose was a piece of heaven. My husband loved the cheesecake. The owner is really nice. She made this day memorable.

Auntie Rae’s is a cute café/​restaurant that is great for the family. I went with my mom and brother. We used a Groupon for the Tea Party and forgot to read the fine print. We were supposed to make a reservation so they can make sure the cook is there and have everything ready. However, they were incredibly accommodating and served us anyway. They gave us the full service for their High Tea and it was amazing.
For $ 20 you get your choice of tea (I had a fruit medley), finger sandwiches, scones with raspberry jam and lemon curd, a fruit and cheese plate, and choice of dessert. I had the pineapple and vanilla swirl Ice cream for dessert. It was basically one of the most delicious ice creams I’ve ever had.
The atmosphere was very nice too. We sat in the parlor next to a cute antiques case decorated for St. Patricks day. They also have a playroom in the back for children. It was cute and fun. Again, everyone there was very friendly and they had fantastic service.
Definitely going again and recommending Auntie Rae’s Dessert Island to all of my friends.

Probably one of the most interesting places I’ve ever had dessert. I mean who could say they’ve gone to a dessert island in an awesome house? ME! Jeffrey and I stopped in here after a delicious dinner in search of a delicious dessert. Luckily dessert island was close by. Jeffrey and I both got the warm cookie with ice cream on top and it was the most amazing deliciousness I could eat. It was crispy on the top and sides, gooey on the insides and cold with the delicious ice cream on top! I recommend you go here for some wonderful dessert. And to see the cool house that it’s in!

We went for high tea because of a groupon. Was I impressed? Not really. The tea was nothing special, bought at Walmart. The sandwiches were good. Nothing that amazing. Then came the scones which were good and the lemon curd and jam was yummy. The fruit and cheese plate was a joke. Made me laugh at how non special the food was for high tea. What I liked was at the end you get to pick a dessert from the case. I went with the peach pie. The crust is a puff pastry crust. The granola topping was good but crust was nothing great and the peaches I’m pretty sure are canned peaches. Would I go back? Maybe but just for dessert. There is more I want to try that way. Glad I didn’t have to pay full price either for it. Fun to try new things.

I do really enjoy pie. Like, more than anyone I’ve ever met. It’s kinda my thing. So imagine my delight when I found out that Auntie Rae’s has several kinds of pies. And that they were mini pies, and adorable and that I could swing by and pick them up and eat them any time they are open. Imagine how great I thought that is.
Here’s the thing about pie. It’s amazing stuff. I adore it. From crust to crust, they’re circular marvels that tickle my tastebuds to the power of 3.14. What’s not to love? From head to toe, they’ve got a little sweet, a little butter, a little savor, and all kinds of layers and textures. I’ve had cake before, and pie takes the cake. It takes the cake and it beats it squarely, roundly defeating the spongy slices, even with their frosting.
With all that being said, and having expressed quite heavily my adoration of pie, I feel like I do need to set expectations straight that I have not yet said anything about this specific pie. That is, one can love pie and love all the things about pie, but still have opinions of particular pies in particular places.
In regards to Auntie Rae’s pies, I definitely like them by virtue of them being pies, but I’ll need to try more than the one small take-​home pie I got. Dutch crumble top and apple filling. Definitely good, but it takes a long time and a lot of tasting to try all the pies. It’s difficult work, but I know enough that I wan to keep trying flavors.
Lest you think I’m a cake hater, I did try the chocolate fudge cake and it is quite good. I also had a Dole Whip, which heretofore I had only seen at amusement parks. But perhaps the licensing is easing, because I’ve seen two new places carry it in the last few months now.
Add all that in with the cute old house with the upstairs – a setup that I’m a sucker for – and you’ve got a really fun dessert stop up on the east side. Pie, cake, cold treats, drinks… much more tasting to do.

Found this place on Unilocal and had to give it a try (I’m a sucker for dessert places). One of my favorite desserts is pie so of course we had to order a couple to try.
This place is located in a cute little house with such a charm. When you walk in you are greeted with a nice welcome as well as an explanation of each dessert if necessary. The lady that helped us (sorry, forgot your name) was so nice and helpful.
We ordered two pies (berry and apple) and they were delicious! They were super dense (meaning they didn’t skimp on filling) and tasted great and priced great. I will definitely be back to try more dessert options!

My friend and I had a lovely experience at Auntie Rae’s on Friday night. It’s another business in a house, which I like; and open late, which I love. My friend and I sat outside after ordering, and it was a lovely evening. The front yard is dimly lit with paper lanterns and a miniature lighthouse flashed near our table.
I ordered a slice of chocolate mousse pie and it was gargantuan; I’m not sure I could have gotten a slice half its size down. The mousse was rich and dark and I really liked it. My friend ordered sheet cake that he was thrilled with.
Auntie Rae’s also had a selection of mini pies available as well as a soft serve machine with an interesting variety of ice cream float options. I would definitely like to return to try out a few more items and it Auntie Rae’s great hours, I probably will.

Love me a good dessert and with a name like dessert island, it would be hard to go wrong!
First off this place is adorable!!! It’s a house and it reminds me of how The Chocolate but way better. My favorite part was the room for kids. There were toys and small tables. My 11 month old crawled around and played while my hubby and I devoured the deliciousness.
Now the food: yes. And yes. And a little more yes! We got a piece of chocolate fudge cake that was topped with vanilla ice cream, strawberries and hot fudge. So so good. The cake tasted like Texas sheet-​cake on crack. Yesssss please! We also got a pineapple whip float. It was pineapply and whippy deliciousness. Way to go Auntie Rae.
And it’s walking distance from the SOHO food park, so you can grab dinner and then head a few steps away to get dessert and eat it while sitting in the air conditioning.
Can’t wait to bring my friends and family!

This is a nice find. It’s like you follow the white rabbit into a hole and suddenly you are in this cute house selling desserts. I almost wondered if the house is also made of edible treats but I guess that is not practical in Salt Lake Valley’s hot summer.
The whole idea of this place is to make you feel like you’re having desserts at your own home. You order what you want at the counter, then you can choose where you want to devour them in the house. I chose to seat in this reading room complete with shelves of books and rocking chair. I saw the room opposite has bean bags seating, although I wonder how to enjoy your cakes and cup of tea whilst seating on them. They have comfortable sofas too in the general area outside the rooms.
The food themselves are not bad. I had Granny Great’s Triple Berry Pie. The filling tastes fresh and not sugary, although I prefer the crust to be a little warmer instead of stone cold. I really like the Paradise Parfait. Whole serving of sweet goodness. My only problem is I tried hard not to make a mess. It’s like eating in your dad’s immaculate reading room, and there is no napkin nearby. The herb tea was served in a big mug and a cute stainless steel hot water container, which is a lot smaller than the mug. I thought that was funny. I did not have a heart to make the sweet lady come up and down the stairs to replenish the hot water for me.
Overall, I think this place has potential. It is a nice place to hang out with group of friends while having good desserts. Few improvements can be made, like adding a napkin dispenser on top floor, or even a large hot water kettle at common area. Or what about putting a table cloth in the rooms? It will be nice to have more desserts variety as well, and maybe add in sweet fresh home made pastries. Then it will be a serious contender to the crowded bakery and desserts eateries in Salt Lake City.

Wow! Finally a place in SLC where I can get some great dessert and sit and relax for awhile! This place even has a fun kids’ play area stocked with toys, games, and books so I can chat with my other mom friends while my kids play happily near by. For all you parents out there who are so sick of Mcdonalds but continue to go there just for the play area go to Auntie Rae’s!!!
The berry pie was heavenly! Also loved the caramel Rice Krispie chocolate thing. Plus, they had ice cream cones for the kids for only $ 1!!! I really hope this place is around for a long time. I’ve whined to my husband for so long that there’s no where for us non-​drinkers to go and hang out after a dinner date that’s open later. Auntie Rae’s is open till mid-​night on the weekends! Woo hoo!
