Sid’s Clock Shop

I purchased a grandfather clock off of Craigslist and wanted to have it serviced. Thank goodness for Unilocal — stumbled upon Sid’s Clock Shop and was able to book an appointment for him to stop by my house to assess the clock. Sid was able to fix the clock and it chimes good as new! Great service, great pricing, overall great experience! Thanks!

After reading these reviews I took my carriage clock to Sid. It worked for a week. Brought it back he charged me again and again it stopped working a week later. Yes he does have good repair prices but crummy guarantee policies.

I have inherited a number of authentic German cuckoo clocks and have used Sid’s services of the years for repairs and maintenance. The first time I dropped off the clock at his «shop», which is actually a work space located in a very large antiques store/​pavilion. Multiple vendors share space and Sid is one of them. When the work was finished, he brought it over to the office and helped with the final adjustments. The clock is beautiful and has been ticking away for the last few years.
Sid is definitely an expert and has a vast amount of knowledge. It may take him a bit of time to respond to inquiries, but he’s a busy guy and probably in demand. His prices are also very reasonable. If you have a clock that needs attention, and you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area of NorCal, Sid is your go-​to guy!

I thought I found Sid’s through Unilocal,but obviously not.
I have a Sligh grandfather’s clock I inherited when my father died in 1990. It worked fine until recently when it just quit. I researched and learned that these machines actually need maintenance and cleaning. I guess that’s the phrase «he cleaned my clock» came from.
I called a clock co. in SF and booked an appointment; last thing I asked before hanging up was «and how much will this cost anyway?» When I got the reply «$ 600» I decided I needed more info.
A quick Google search popped up with Sid at
and his first house call was only $ 175, more if he had to take the movement with him for a full cleaning.
He came today, on time, oiled the movement, and my dad’s clock seems good as new. I’m going to keep an eye on it and hopefully won’t have to utilize the 90-​day guarantee or have more cleaning done.
In the off-​chance that you have an old-​fashioned, real clock that needs some TLC, I’d call Sid first.
UPDATE: one week later and clock runs like a. .. well it’s still running great.
