Specialties
We are a dedicated sports bar geared toward premium sports viewing including out-of-market events that are otherwise impossible to find in downtown San Antonio (NFL Sunday Ticket, NHL Center Ice, MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass, Big10/SEC/PAC12/Longhorn Network, Fox Soccer, and many others including most boxing and UFC PPV’s). There are 14 hi-def screens, surround sound, full bar, draft beer, & wings/pizza.nachos served til 2am. Although sporting events are our specialty, the bar itself has a «neighborhood» feel that emphasizes friendliness and great customer service. We have been named Best Sports Bar by the San Antonio Current Readers’ Poll 4 of the past 5 years (runner up in 2011). We are located in the heart of the historic Houston Street District one block from the Alamo and half block from the Riverwalk. Our unique customer base is an even split between locals and out-of-town visitors, a real melting pot with local flavor that is definitely NOT a tourist trap.
History
Established in 2007.
The Ticket is located in the historic Pincus Building (allegedly haunted) which was built in 1929 and housed San Antonio’s premier men’s clothing store (Pincus Department Store) til it closed in the early 1980s. It was renovated into the Houston Street Ale House in the late 80s and changed hands several times before we took over in 2007. The new ownership had many years experience operating businesses in downtown San Antonio and saw the need for a real sports bar in the downtown area. It was an instant hit, opening on May 24 that year during during the NBA playoffs while the hometown Spurs were in the midst of their 4th Championship run. Since San Antonio routinely hosts huge events (2007 Big 12 Football Championship, 2008 men’s & 2010 women’s Final Four, the Alamo Bowl & Fiesta to name just a few), the Ticket is often one of the main hubs for fan activity. The sidewalk patio was added in October 2011 to make for one of the best people watching/relaxation spots in the city.
Meet the Business Owner
Todd K.
Business Owner
I have been in the entertainment/hospitality business for over 20 years and enjoy the vibrance of downtown areas, having spent most of the 90s on 6th Street in Austin and most of this past decade operating businesses here in downtown San Antonio. Our goal at the Ticket is for customers to have a great experience, whether its watching a game or just relaxing with friends. We put a ton of work into the details that create an atmosphere to deliver this experience.
