Hoi Yee (Emily) Chui L.Ac., Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM) studies and attends seminars to explore Chinese medical Classics at her free time. Emily has not only studied with some top acupuncturists and herbalists in the US but also the best TCM doctors in China. Besides specializing in pain management, Emily also focuses on women’s health, digestive issues, sleeping disorders, and stress, which are all closely related to one another. In her practice, Emily implements classical theories into treating modern living health issues using gentle acupuncture styles and herbal protocols.

Emily is involved with Acupuncture Without Borders, where she is in training to provide auricular acupuncture in community clinics. Practicing in the city of San Carlos in the SF Bay Area, she enjoys providing the community with highest quality of care to maintain their health in a balanced state.

I’ve been going to a variety of acupuncturists for 25 years. Emily is by far one of the BEST acupuncturists and herbalists I’ve ever seen. She’s incredibly knowledgable, friendly, gentle, warm and shows genuine concern for my aches and pains. Her herbal remedies are spot on.

I’ve heard of Dr. Chui from my friend a year ago and telling me how awesome she is. I lost my voice two weeks ago when i was back from NYC (pbb i scream too much during my engagement shooting session lol and i did have a heavy sinus there). My fiancé called Emily for me and she quickly arranged an acupuncture session for me. Emily was so patient and skillful, she tried her very best to listen to my hardly-​able-​to-​be-​heard voice and needled a few spots on my body. It was so amazing that i can speak again after the treatment (in a masculine voice lol). She also gave me some herbs to drink. To be honest, I really feel a lot better after this session. I visited her again after four days to do another treatment and now, i’m completely recovered! My original voice is back and all my nasal mucus and cough is all gone! Thank you Emily! I’m so grateful to have you as my acupuncturist! Definitely recommend her to everyone staying in the bay area!

I have been having problem sleeping with severe night sweat and always feel really hot (even in winter, I can only wear a short sleeves t-​shirt to bed). I went to visit Dr Chui and she prescribed some herbal medicine for me. After about a month, the night sweat stopped and I can sleep much better throughout the night! Thank you so much Dr Chui!

I’ve been seeing Emily almost weekly and am so grateful I found her! I’m still a work in progress with the physical issues I face, but I have made so much progress and know I am on the right track because of her. I look very forward to each visit and gain much insight into what is going on in my body and what I can do even at home to continue to make a difference in my healing. Emily’s compassion for helping people is so evident, and her skill and nurturing are top notch. I’ve been to a handful of acupuncturists throughout the years, and while they are all good on surface level, Emily’s approach and commitment to helping you, along with her bedside manner, make her far superior in my eyes. Emily is amazing. I’ve been seeing her for about 4 or 5 months. I’ve been going to her for stomach issues. I had an acupuncturist before her who kept telling me to do the same thing every time I saw her. I knew it wasn’t working. That’s why I wanted to switch to someone else and found Emily.
She’s extremely bright and very nice. And gentle with the needles. But most important she is always adjusting what she does to what is going on with me that day and not doing the same thing if it’s not working. She tries new things if I say I’m still having trouble. She’s knowledgeable with everything and is always giving great new things to try. Best acupuncturist I’ve ever had. And I’m feeling a lot better!

Emily helped me preparing my birth, which turned out to be extremely smooth. I asked around for birth preparation. Some acupuncturist would suggest a very frequent schedule, which was hard to make while working. Emily told me to start at 36 weeks with one visit per week. I had back pain lying on my side during pregnancy. Emily was able to feel the tension in the muscles and she actively worked on it. After 3 visits the pain was mostly gone. This is very helpful when I have to lie on my side during labor. She also worked on inducing spontaneous labor so that less medical intervention would be needed. My labor was short and mostly not very painful and the delivery was smooth.

Emily is amazing !! This is my fiancé first time experience on Acupunture .He was skeptical about this but I convince him to give it a try. He had a very painful neck problem and it cost a very bad headache from scale 1 – 10 he would say 10! Anyway we give this a try. Emily was very knowledge and patient listen to all the concern and explaining to us how acupuncture would help. After 1 visited my fiancé feel so much better from scale 1 – 10 he said it was 3 !! Wow. We still need to go see her for a second visit and I’m sure that it will be so much better.

I have been seeing Emily for couple years now, I would go to her whenever I dont feel well with my body, especially when I get a flu or stomach problems. She would listen to my concerns very patiently every time and give me a thorough assessment to my health condition and address to my questions accordingly. Emily doesn’t only treat the symptoms, she pays close attention to any health issues arise in my body for the past couple years and link the dots together to come up with a treatment plan that addresses the cause of the health issues I have instead of just treating the symptoms. Emily is a very gentle, calm and knowledgeable person, she is the kind of acupuncturist you wanna have for life! :)

I went to see Emily for headaches and neck pain and had a great experience. I really liked her relaxed, patient demeanor and friendly personality, and I could tell that she genuinely cared and thought hard about what was going on in my body. She gave me an honest assessment, explained what she found and how it was affecting my body, and she is very good at what she does. Treatments usually consisted of acupuncture, herbal remedies, and dietary and lifestyle advice. She would work her magic in the office, but gave me plenty of things I could do on my own at home to help speed up my recovery, which I appreciate.
Although I recently moved, I will definitely go back to see her next time I’m in CA.
