On Wednesday, 10/14/2015, I walked into Patioworld in San Carlos. I originally came by the Monday before, but discovered the store is closed on Mondays. When I entered the store, I was the only customer. The older Caucasian gentleman staff member inside the store just acted like I was not even there. He never greeted me, or asked me if I needed any assistance. I walked around that store for several minutes before I decided to just leave. No wonder some of these stores are going out of business.

Bill helped me to narrow down to a patio set for our small backyard. His is patient, attentive and super helpful. Best yet, a few days after i got the patio set, i changed my mind on the umbrella stand even though the return policy was within 24 hours. Bill reassured me he can help me with this and he was able to talked to manager and made it happen with no fuss. Thanks Bill!!!

Best customer service ever! Our table top was shattered and needed to be replace. Although it took a long time to receive the replacement top they always kept me up to date on progress and ended up not charging us once it did arrive. It was a nine month wait but never the less, its here and looks great! I’m a customer for life!

Plus: Patio World has a nice selection of patio and deck furniture. Joe, our salesperson, was skilled at listening and directing us to furniture that reflects our taste and was in stock so we didn’t have to special order. We spent $ 7000 + tax on the furniture. Minus: Six of the eight chairs they sold us are too short to sit comfortably at the larger of the two tables they sold us. When I called the salesperson to discuss it and to see if we could swap out just two of the six low-lying chairs, he said they have a 24 hour return policy(written on the back of the receipt, apparently, but it would have been nice to understand at the point of sale). We’re average height people(5’4″ and 5’7″) and we want to warn future customers to always put the chairs/table together on the floor and try them out to see if you’re comfortable for you. Boy, do I wish we had. We wasted $ 2000 on four chairs that are too short for the larger table. When we replace these four chairs, it won’t be at Patio World.

found the exact furniture I needed — a tall bistro set. I looked at many other items while I was there and Jonathan took plenty of time to explain everything to me. I’d recommend that they put better signs up to show that almost everything in the store is on sale.

Our experience at Patio World: Run, do not walk, from this place. It is ineptly run, has poor quality control and vacuous management. After paying for nearly $ 4,000 of patio furniture, it took four months for undamaged furniture to be delivered. During the four month ordeal, they ignored our emails, our calls and our visits to the store. They delivered two, not one, defective shipments and tried to foist off scratched and damaged merchandise. The delivery times are at their own convenience, and they refuse to work with you on delivery times. They finally made good on what we had purchased many long months ago but it was not without aggravation and pain on our part. We urge you to consider any other venue if you value your time and money.
