with a fantastic inventory of quality, high end redwood (hard to get in this day and age), including molding and sidings, this place is a carpenter’s dream.
An interesting side note, while I was in the office and being waited on by one of the salesmen, the other was doing his best to explain lumber 101 to a female customer — I thought he was being polite and not trying to talk down to someone who obviously had not clue one about lumber.
In reading some of the reviews, I do find it disconcerting that they chose to substitute an over length without contacting the customer beforehand and giving him the option to either cancel the order, wait until the proper lengths can be procured (again, with Redwood in this day and age, perhaps not an easy thing to accomplish), or accept the over lengths. It also sounds to me that there was a misunderstanding concerning the return charge. Having previously worked in the lumber industry, I fully understand the return fee, as often a contractor will intentionally purchase more than he needs and fully expects to be able to return the unused material (damaged or not), even when the company’s invoice clearly states that return are at the discretion of the company (giving the company the right to refuse a return if it’s damaged), and that there will be a labor charge involved for rehandling (which also takes into consideration, not only the returning to inventory, but the unnecessary pulling to begin with.
just my observations as someone who has seen both sides of the industry.

I must’ve visited 4 or 5 different lumber yards looking for redwood shingle moulding for an outdoor arbor. After visiting OK Lumber, they suggested I check out Redwood Lumber & Supply which was right down the street.
Much to my happiness, they had 3 – 4 different redwood shingle mouldings at a good price. They also had a lot of different redwood casings, mouldings and larger redwood pieces here as well.
After I picked out my moulding pieces, they cut them to my desired length (couldn’t fit 10 footers in my car). Great service — was in and out the door in less than 10 min.
