History

Established in 2013.

Barnoa is a laid back neighborhood wine bar where San Clemente locals meet and enjoy hand-​selected wines, craft beers, small plates, and desserts (including an out-​of-​this-​world flourless chocolate cake).

Every Friday and Saturday night the wine bar dims the lights and welcomes some of Southern California’s favorite local musical acts, making this hidden gem an ideal spot to meet up with friends and unwind.

Please welcome new owner Mike Trebing to Barnoa!

Mike has enjoyed meeting many of you at your favorite Talega drinking spot over the past few weeks, and would love it if you came by to let him know your thoughts on some of his new wine selections.

Previous owner Alex will be embarking on an exciting new venture very soon, but will still be around Barnoa through the end of February to bid adieu to all the familiar faces he’ll miss and make sure the transition is smooth for customers and staff.

We would like to invite you to visit us for a chat with Alex, Mike, or our lovely staff about what 2016 has in store for the Barnoa family.

It’s a great fun place. On the weekend they have live music and wine selection is great! I wish they had more food selection but still love going regardless. Definitely have to go and give a try everyone who works there is attentive and really nice!

I had no idea this wine bar existed, but I am so glad I found out about it! It’s tucked away in a beautiful spot in San Clemente & it’s just about the best thing. I just went here with a friend, and I can’t wait to come back. The ambiance is quaint and mellow, the wine is great, the cheese plate was fantastic & everything was all quite reasonably priced. It’s not super cheap, but you absolutely get your money’s worth. The staff was incredibly friendly & accommodating too! I seriously recommend coming & checking this place out.

Very nice little spot, curious seating arrangements.
Enjoyed the selections of wine and craft beers, surprisingly good appetizers/​tapas.
They’ll even order a pizza in for you from the pizza parlor in the center, very cool!
Experience would have been better had it not been for the boorish and rude party that came in, obviously wanting the table we were seated at, making no secret of it.

Stopped by this place after dinner at Sundried Tomato. Great wine and great dessert. Definitely a great alternative to The Cellar if you’re in the area.

Calm, classy, and tasty.
The atmosphere is intimate during the day. Great to have a conversation over a bottle of wine or study with a small entrée. The bar offers wines, beer, and liquors. There is a select amount of entrees and desserts. They even offer to order pizza from Ballpark Pizza. The staff is friendly and very knowledgable of wines. Will definitely return.

This is such a great find, tucked in the front parking lot of Talega Village shops. Amazing selection of local and imported wines, plus some great microbrew beers. Excellent cheese/​meat/​bread platters. Live music on the weekends is great Awesome place to go for a date night or to meet a group of friends.

The atmosphere is amazing. This bar is more of a throwback to how things are in Europe. Great selection of beer and wine, and amazing selection of barfood and simple clock six that para extremely well with the wine. I cannot say enough about this establishment, they are friendly, courteous, well stocked, and authentic. This is what a wine bar should be and we are very lucky to have one in our community.

This place rocks! We live within walking distance so we were so happy when Barnoa moved in this spot. They have a great wine selection and a nice big glass :) I ate their chicken curry salad, I believe, and it was delicious. Their bread is also good and it’s free :) can’t say enough great things about this place!

OH OH OH I loved this place… As soon as my girlfriend and I walked in, I just knew I’d love it, I don’t know why.
The gentleman at the bar was super friendly, my friend and I ordered wine and he gave great recommendations!
I was starving and he gave me free bread, a plus. Love my bread ;)
The prices were very reasonable– you can get a nice glass for $ 8 or spend more for something nicer, but it was within anyone’s budget!
I will be back– I came in on a Friday and it looked like they had a musical performer who was setting up. We got there around 4:30pm and it was dead– so we were able to pick any seat we wanted. This looked like the place couples would show up to on a Friday to hang out, so anticipate crowds. We left around 7pm and it was getting crowded.
The menu wasn’t huge, but I saw the lady who worked there putting cheese plates together and I wanted to grab it from her– it looked AMAZING. She had huge blocks of cheese she would cut from, and I wanted to steal it. The cheese just reeked of deliciousness ;)

I heard rave reviews of Barnoa from my boyfriend’s family who lives in the Talega community nearby and they are all regulars. I mean, who could blame them; a cozy, quaint wine bar within walking distance from their home? Sounded like perfection to me!
Barnoa is the perfect spot for a glass (or three) of wine, or even beer. They had a great, wide selection wine selection from a variety of regions and price points. We went during happy hour on a Sunday where bottles were half price so it was even better.
My favorite part of Barnoa was the friendly and personal service of their staff. It elevates this place from your average wine bar to a friendly, neighborhood spot where they treat you like family.
Also don’t miss out on their amazing desserts! Because what better way is there to end a fabulous night of wine drinking with vanilla cheesecake with berry compote and key lime pie?

Local spot for a great glass of wine. Love that they change the wine selection every few months. Must try the pies (like quiches)!! Comes with a salad and is the perfect lite dinner. They have soju cocktails now too when I’m wanting something more refreshing! I’m here once a week. At least!

We absolutely love this place! Alex and Ann Sophie are wonderful and always so hospitable. The music on the weekends is awesome, especially English Joe! 5 star!
The menu is quite limited but what they serve is great, especially the cheese plates. Oh yes and I think my husband has talked them into serving beers on tap soon… yay!
