Favorite breakfast place in San Clemente by far! The menu has a wide selection(including fresh donuts from Surfin’ Donuts), service is very quick, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating. I recommend the huevos rancheros, acai bowl and bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming.

Amazing breakfast sandwiches. Humongous breakfast burritos. Super awesome staff who always greet you with a smile. A go to place for breakfast, coffee or a pastry in the morning.

Ordered a burger well done and about half was edible the other half raw. Too bad half went in the trash as it had good taste. Very friendly staff.

Awesome breakfast and lunch! Comfort food, excellent pancakes, sandwiches, burgers, pozole, and even donuts. Quite the eclectic menu of really good food, with choices from American to Mexican dishes. Burritos, tacos, you name it. The kids love the food, so do the Mrs. and I. Can’t go wrong with a single dish.

I ordered a chicken Cobb salad. The food was delicious and the customer service was on point. If I absolutely had to say something negative, it would be the extended waiting time for my food to be done. Otherwise, they definitely have my future business.

On December 24, I went downtown hoping to find something open. What I did not expect was to have one of the best breakfast burritos I’ve ever eaten. I had a potato, egg and cheese burrito with added avocado. The potatos were so crispy, I initially thought they were bacon. The only thing I didn’t like, and it’s a tiny thing not worth losing a star over, is that the salsa came in a little container that was not wide enough for my enormous, delicious burrito. I wish the salsa had been inside the burrito to begin with.

Wow! I’ve been coming to San Clemente for years and I’ve always passed this place until this last weekend. My parents brought me here for breakfast/lunch after church. It was busy but we found a table outside on the patio area. The menu has typical breakfast items, sandwiches, mexican, smoothies, and salads. My parents raved about the breakfast burritos but I had the chorizo plate and it was delicious! It was so filling and I only ate half of it. It was served with tortillas, potatoes, and sour cream and guacamole. The burritos were huge too! There are SO many different places to eat breakfast in San Clemente and I highly recommend trying the Grill. I wish I knew about this place when I worked down here! This is a must try for a quick but filling breakfast!

This place has great food but the girls that work the register really could use a class on some customer service!

We came to San Clemente for vacation this week and were introduced to this place. We had breakfast there twice and it was fabulous both times. It’s a casual, friendly place with really good food and donuts. We really enjoyed the French toast and the breakfast burrito! They have indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of free parking. It’s very clean and in a great location right in town. We will definitely be back next time we’re in San Clemente!

Something for everybody in the family and inexpensive! So I visited for the first time this weekend and was pretty impressed with the food. Walking in, you feel like you’re at a donut shop, which I was initially unhappy about as donuts don’t cut it for breakfast for me. But looking at the menu further I found a multitude of «real» breakfast options including some great sounding omelettes. After thinking about this further, it really opens the door for kids, as they love coming here in hopes of getting a donut after eating a decent breakfast. They also have some more lighter menu items and some great breakfast burritos. They even have an acai bowl. They really do cater to everyone. Surprisingly enough they even had a large selection of coffee drinks as well and the’re serving Deidrich’s which is another bonus IMO. AMBIANCE and LOCATION(Rating 3) It’s on the main drag on a busy corner so it’s easy to see and it’s got the feel of a dive«local’s» café if you ask me. Seating is minimal for how busy they are and there isn’t much shade so plan on that if it’s a warm morning. As mentioned above it looks more like a donut shop, but don’t be fooled, the«grill» is happening in the kitchen and they kick out breakfast pretty quick even when they’re busy. VEGETARIANOMELETTE w/HAM(Rating 4.25) OK, so I screwed the whole vegan thing up by adding ham. But this omelette was very good with the ham and I’d recommend it to anyone this way. It had mushrooms, onions, tomatos, spinich and cheese and was great! HOMEFRIEDPOTATOS(Rating 3.75) They were well cooked and well seasoned. Not over-done, not under cooked. A few too many peelings for my taste but overall they are tasty.

DELICIOUS! We ordered both the sausage egg burrito and the steak egg burrito and coffee. Both burritos came hot and freshly made packed with homestyle potatoes, cheese and fluffy eggs. One burrito is big enough to share or not. Dietrich coffee is available in a number of roasts and flavors. Nice, friendly and prompt service and the indoor and outdoor area were very clean with tables bussed immediately so you can grab a seat. Donuts available as well but no room after that huge burrito!

The Grill at Surfin’ Donuts is delicious. The couple months it was closed for renovation/repair were hard on us. THe service here is great. The food here is the best. The shredded shicken burrito really hits the spot. I LOVE the veggie sandwich on squaw which is weird because I usually am all about that meat. The quesadilla is delish, the club is huge and the donuts make me go nuts. They have really good smoothies too… Parking is available on the street or in the small lot. It is pretty busy– but you can call ahead.

Affordable, fast and good. We were looking for a quick place to eat and found the grill. They have parking… Which is hard to find at lunch time. We split a soup and sandwich. The veggie sandwich had great avocado and they have many bread options. The chicken tortilla soup was good but not great. I’d like to try the burgers or breakfast food next time.

I’ve only been here twice so far. Both times were really good experiences overall. The first time I got spuds and added a couple eggs on top. I’ve had better spuds, but still it was really good. My co-workers ordered a steak burrito(said it was just ok) and tuna sandwich(said it’s the best he’s had in San Clemente). The second time I bought the acai bowl. It’s gluten free! I was a little worried it wouldn’t be enough for lunch because the picture looked like a small portion and it was only $ 6.50+tax. But it did the job nicely and was tasty. My friends ordered a machaca burrito(really liked it), cheeseburger and fries(said it was pretty good — he’s had better, he’s had worse) and a sandwich. The workers were polite both times and the prices were pretty cheap compared to a lot of other places in San Clemente. I definitely recommend you at least try this place out.

Excellent service! Everyone always has a happy spirit here. Try the huge doughNuts. I personally love any of their omelettes. I am also a coffee addict so I love to get Hawaiian Hazelnut coffee here.

One could easily drive past The Grill without a second thought. At first glance, this is just an unmemorable, divey donut shop/grill. But thanks to my awesome restaurant research skills and a confirming recommendation from my boyfriend, I knew that The Grill was THE spot for breakfast burritos. I know, exactly what you would expect from a place called The Grill at Surfin Donuts. Completely logical! Oh man, these breakfast burritos were heavenly. A huge flower tortilla filled with soft scrambled eggs, shredded hash browns, gooey cheddar cheese and chunks of breakfast sausage served with a side of some of the best hot sauce I’ve ever had. It was(the good kind of) greasy, meaty, spicy and it left me in a food coma for several hours. So it was clearly a phenomenal breakfast burrito.

Located one block north or DelMar they are a donut shop centrally located in the heart of San Clemente. They are very friendly, they now me by name(is that a sign I eat too many donuts). They work hard at keeping the establishment neat and clean. This is a VERY family friendly place. They have a very good assortment of donuts, croissants and have Acai bowls and a full grill. The generous sized breakfast burritos are some of the best in town. My favorites are the steak or bacon. Add some guacamole and you have a home run. Oh and yes you want to home made hot salsa that comes with you burrito. You can get eggs made to order and the pancakes are good as well. The have a great assortment of coffee, bottled drinks and fountain soft drinks also. They have seating for about 8 people inside and several tables to sit in the front, side and have picnic benches in the back. There is a private parking lot behind the store and there is plenty of street parking. It can be busy on weekends and holidays and if you get there after 10:30ish your donut choices may be limited. Just keep in mind that they don’t have their entire donuts selection until after 7:30.

I dig everything about San Clemente. I read & heard such wonderful things about The Grill at Surfin Donuts and figured it was time to make a pit stop and see for myself. I was making a road trip to S.D. and figured I would exit the freeway, explore San Clemente a little further and have lunch at The Grill, I am so glad I did. I was able to find parking on a beautiful day out right in front of The Grill. I walked in and found the every member of the staff to have smiles on their faces. Right away the cashier asked me how my day was going; the small things in regards to customer service truly means a lot and equal ‘BIG’ things. I looked around and noticed how spotless clean this business was. I mean you could walk around with a white glove and this spot would pass with flying colors. Prior to ordering I asked to use the bathroom and found the bathroom to be just as clean. I looked at the menu and found it hard to focus. The smell of fresh baked donuts was simply intoxicating. I composed myself and knew I had to try the ‘club’ sandwich on wheat bread and I am sooooooooooo glad I did. The ‘club’ sandwich was awesome!!! I enjoyed my sandwich on the outdoor patio and enjoyed some free sunshine and the views of the Ocean which you can see=) Prior to continuing south on my way to S.D. I knew I had to get a donut and once again I was taken back on how flavorful the donut was. I went with you typical ‘old fashioned.’ The donut was not greasy, the paper bag it was placed it never even showed a speck of grease even after sitting in the bag from San Clemente to San Diego. Without question I will be stopping by here again and trying other things on their menu. If you have not visited The Grill it is a must. Next time I plan on bringing my surfboard, having an amazing surf session at the Pier getting my grub on at The Grill and heading back to the casa, totally going to make a day out of it. Thank you to the staff for making my visit a special one=)
