Airmaxx Heating and Air Conditioning

We worked with George our service consultant at Airmaxx in late 2015 to do a complete home installation of a new furnace, AC unit, and all new attic duct work. Their bid pricing came in below all three of the other HVAC contractors we received quotes from. George was on top of his game throughout the process, staying in constant communication. He got a good deal on the high-​efficiency Carrier brand equipment that was installed. Installation day went of smoothly with a crew of three workers finishing everything (equipment, ducting, electrical) all in one day! Our new system works great and is keeping us very comfortable. I highly recommend Airmaxx.

I was having trouble at my tenants house when the weather was getting very cold. Alex was very adamant in fixing the problem even though it took three times. The last technician he sent was awesome. Thanks for resolving this issue.

My project was to add an air conditioning system to an existing furnace. I received 3 other proposals and chose AirMaxx on the basis of cost and the «can do» attitude of their agent George. The price was such that replacing the entire duct system was within my budget. The result is a complete air system that seems perfect! Can’t praise them enough!

I posted a negative comment about Airmaxx and I received a call from the Owner, Alex G who asked to speak with me, and when I agreed, he proceeded to berate me for the post I wrote. I understand Alex G might not be happy with my post, however I did not expect him to go into a diatribe about how the information I posted was incorrect and he insisted my version of the account is wrong. After Alex G continued to raise his voice, and continued to admonish me, and refused to allow me to respond, and when he continued to raise his voice and talk over me, I finally hung up the telephone. After I hung up the telephone he called me back four times and I did not answer the telephone. I did not intend to reiterate my dissatisfaction with Alex G of Airmaxx, however with his reply, and his belief it is okay to call me back four tiimes, (I have caller ID), I felt it necessary to do so.

I called Airmaxx Dec 31 2015 and got lucky and got a appointment 1 hour later.
My heater did not work and in my condo it is build under the ceiling with very little access.
Where most may have said we can’t help you because we can’t reach Alex G. from Airmaxx did not let that stand in his way. He was able to fix the heater even with the limited access

My heater would only occasionally come on. I called Airmaxx for repair on December 22. They had someone out on the 23^rd. He first said the heater was 26 years old and needed to be replaced. I’m in a similar business. The heater does not need to be replaced. I said no and planned to call someone else. The then said he could fix it by replacing a module for $ 600 and could do it the following day. I didn’t hear from him again until I called him on the 28^th. He came out with the module and spent four and a half hours and gave up. He inferred that it was my fault because I should have replaced the heater. The next day he called me and said he didn’t know how to fix it and offered to discount the price of a new heater. I had someone else out on the 30^th and they had it repaired in less than an hour. There was nothing wrong with the module. A $ 160 transformer was bad. They will have to come back with a part that is now missing after Airmaxx attempted repair. I don’t know if he just didn’t know what he was doing or this was an attempt to sell a new heater. I haven’t been presented a bill yet. The new unnecessary module is in the heater. There is no way I’m going to let Airmaxx near my heater again.
Bottom line is if I would have called someone other than Airmaxx I would not have had a freezing house through Christmas. I wouldn’t have had to buy electric heaters or light a fire in my fireplace for heat every morning. Christmas sure would have been easier.

So I called Airmaxx on 12÷21÷15 after being told that my issue was not electrical, but something to do with the display. They were able to schedule me for the next day around 11 am and would be able to do a tune up the same day after the repair was completed (other place said I had to make another appointment!). They called me back later that day and advised they had an opening around 10 am. Later that afternoon I received another call from them advising a technician was done and in the area and could I be ready in 20 minutes. They came in, advised me of the situation, recommended the least expensive option, completed the job, did a tune-​up, installed a new washable filter and was out the door. Extremely professional, courteous and went the extra mile.

Pros: Able to schedule an appointment quickly the next day. Grant was friendly and waived the Diagnostic fee after he was unable to fix the furnace.
Cons: Grant did very little to diagnosis the issues with our in floor furnace. Instead he offered costly options to replace the unit.
We got a second opinion from another company, and they were able to replace our millivolt generator (original diagnosis from SDG&E that we offered to Grant) in less than an hour during their initial visit.

I called around to a bunch of other companies for a pre-​winter furnace inspection and was told that they were booking 3+ weeks out. I called Airmaxx and they were available 2 days later. The tech (Gene) was right on time for my11AM appointment, and called ahead and gave me 20 minutes notice. He was professional, polite, friendly, and thorough. The inspection took about 45 minutes and found no major issues. A few minor adjustments were made at no additional cost (taped a few leaky seams that were sending hot air back into the heater closet, adjusted the gas pressure, and wired up the overflow cut off on a new AC sump pump that I never got around to doing).
I toyed with the idea of knocking off a star because I was told when calling that the Unilocal deal (38% off) didn’t apply to tune ups. A little irritating that the Unilocal ad didn’t mention that. But overall the service was great and I feel better about firing up the heater heading into the cold weather.

The cold season began in San Diego and discovered that our furnace would not turn on. We called AirMaxx and scheduled an appointment for the same day as the call. The service technician, Grant, called and arrived half an hour early which was awesome. I hate waiting around during a three hour window.
Grant took pains to explain how our system and thermostat works, inspected the furnace which revealed it is in good condition and discovered the problem that was due to a wire being pinched during the installation of a ceiling fan. The cost of the service call was extremely reasonable and Grant took the time to explain our options on a future A/​C install and encouraged us to get estimates from their competitors. AirMaxx hit a home run today, we will be using them again and will refer them to our friends.

Did a followup and did an extensive checkup.

When your AC breaks during one of the actual heat waves mid-​October, you’ve just moved into a new place, and have no idea what to do — you call your home warranty company. And your home warranty company sends out AirMaxx within minutes (okay, it was probably a couple of hours, but it seemed very fast.)
They came in, diagnosed the problem, explained it thoroughly, and fixed it all within the short period of time. My favorite part though was how courteous they were. We have light colored carpeting and prefer if people don’t track dirt all over via their shoes. Without prompting, this was noticed and booties were used. This may not seem like much, but we’ve had many contractors in and out of our home in recent weeks and, well, this was unusual — and greatly appreciated!
I’m glad the home warranty company uses Air Maxx because I’d probably call them, and pay, myself if they didn’t.

I cannot express how much I LOVE THIS COMPANY!!! I am selling my house and 3 days before closing, I had to fix a heater. I contracted with a different company that informed me that my heater was too old and it would need to be replaced. The part needed no longer existed. Before I moved forward, I needed an estimate and to schedule an install. All of which would not be done in my timeframe. In a panic, I called these guys. I worked with Alex, who called me back in 30 min and asked me to take a picture. He was able to confirm that not only could he fix the existing unit, but he also had the part in stock. He saved me $ 1000. He was able to fix in THE SAME DAY IN LESS THEN 30 MIN!!!
Additionally, SDG&E informed me that I had an illegal heater (ventless, which is illegal in California), and it had to be either removed or replaced. Alex was able to juggle his calendar to accommodate my time frame– originally it was going to be replaced but our buyer decided to just remove it and cap the line. Again, his people showed up precisely at the time given and had everything done is less then 10 minutes. I am blown away with the efficiency of the workers and their ability to accommodate my ridiculously tight schedule. I don’t know pricing for these types of jobs, but it was in the ball park of what the first company provided and the fact that they were able to save me money, impressed me. He could have ripped me off — especially since I had already been told that the part did not exist.
My fiancé needs AC in our condo and I will be using these guys. If you are looking for an honest company with good, quality, efficient work, these are the guys for you!

Our technician Alex was great. He showed up on a late Friday evening with only one hours notice, awesome! A true professional who knows his trade. He performed high quality work on an AC recharge, and found out the source of the leak.
Pricing was extremely fair for the older/​costlier R-​22 refrigerant, so I am happy about that. Mentioned I found them on Unilocal and he dropped $ 30 off the total bill. Highly Recommend!

Our AC failed today on the hottest day of the year. We called and spoke to Mark. The call was placed at 4:30 pm today, by 5:30 Alex arrived. In five minutes found the problem was back on line in right away.
The repair and professional service was the the best. The repair cost were very fair.
I also have stage 4 cancer. Thank Air Max and crew. JOB WELL DONE.

Update: Now the manager (Alex) has been calling me to get me to delete my review by refunding me my $ 49 service fee for showing up. I declined because people deserve to know that their prices are way to high.
I would amend my review if they were to just admit a mistake or error and refund it based on that. But no. They’re crony.

I called Airmaxx after using a local heating and air company. I figured I was low on refrigerant as we had just used it during the last two weeks. The first company showed up, asked about me if we had a clean filter? He then went to the heater, opened it up, pulled out the filter and ran to his truck as I unlocked my gate to show him the condenser unit and as he walked by me said it was 91 dollars for the «FREE» service called/​inspection. Needless to say it didn’t make me to happy. He proceeded to tell me he could replace a valve, recharge for only 800 plus dollars. Or we could replace entire unit and a quote would be sent. It was with no prices listed. But within 2 weeks we could be back working. Bye Bye first company!
Called Airmaxx immediately and the next morning Vlad was sent out to help. He showed me where I had a leak. He ran down to his shop and returned within an hour with a replacement valve. Replaced it within 5 minutes. Recharged our system and cold air was blowing in less than 2 hours. We still are considering changing out our entire unit as it is 17 year old builders grade equipment and could stop at anytime. Vlad gave us a great quote on new unit. It will save us a lot energy costs as it will be much more efficient. I really like the fact that he got us up and running so that we didn’t have to make a snap decision on a new unit. All this for less than half of what the first company wanted to charge!

If I could give 10 stars I would!!! Alex (the owner) was amazing he arrived at the house 20 minutes after we called him after a mix up with the front office and diagnosed the low coolant on our unit (that another company tried to tell us was a coil issue that was going to cost upwards of $ 3K)within minutes of being here. A very VERY fair price for the work performed later and he was out the door. Phenomenal service from both him and the office staff this company comes with a very high recommendation from this household!!!

I am so pleased by the honesty and efficiency of this business. Gene the Airmax tech made it so easy to work with even though I was 30 minutes late.
Here’s my story:
Being a first time homeowner is confusing and scary. TL services was sent by AHS home warranty. They took $ 75 service charge regardless and misdiagnosed the AC problem expecting a $ 324 charge to fix the problem which was in their words «just needs Freon.» I doubted his diagnosis and went to check the Unilocal reviews on TL services. Seems like I’m not the other one betrayed by such a dishonest company.
So I decided to look for another business and Airmax popped on my search. The representative on the phone was extremely pleasant and made an appt as quick as the next business day. So I had a second consultation with Gene from Airmax who stated that all it needed was a dual capacitor and that the Freon was at a perfect level. Fixed in minutes at half the price. I literally just had my ac fixed and couldn’t wait to tell you fellow Unilocalers how pleased I am.

Called «the multiverse» (or meta-​universe), the concept describes the hypothetical set of infinite or finite possible universes (including the Universe we consistently experience) that together comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, and energy as well as the physical laws and constants that describe them. Why do I bring this up? Because I recently experienced an altered cosmological state — one where repair people are competent and show up on time… early even.
Consider: I submitted an inquiry on AirMaxx’s website. They called me promptly to set up an appointment. Alex, billed as a «Comfort Consultant,» called me to say he would arrive early… which he did. Mind blown already. Then, get this — he diagnosed and fixed the problem with our air conditioning. Not only that, he *clearly* explained the situation and cleaned up the mess left by the guy from the hell dimension who installed the unit.
I am not sure if the best minds in academia will one day be able to explain this bizarre experience with quantum mechanics, string theory, cosmological modeling or modal realism, but if there’s a portal or wormhole to another dimension, it’s Airmaxx.

I called Airmaxx based on the reviews I read. This company is friendly and extremely professional. I called to have my wall furnace checked/​serviced.
When I set my appointment (spoke to a very nice lady), she gave me a time frame of when a service person could come out. I received a call the day prior of my appointment as a reminder. I liked that it was an actual person that called versus a robo-​call.
On the day of, Alex called to tell me he’d be at my home in about 15 minutes. Arrived promptly in the time frame stated and assessed the problem (s) right away. Alex was very courteous and the cost for the service was very reasonable.
I would definitely recommend and/​or use Airmaxx again in the future. Thank you Alex and Airmaxx!
