George and team have 5 stars for a reason — actually MANY reasons — my simple advice is: if you are looking to install a new HVAC system or need work to be done on your existing system, GVK should be your first call.
We recently gave in to global warming and decided to install an air conditioning system in our 1950s era house. It was absolutely one of the best projects from start to finish we have ever done (and we’ve done a lot since purchasing 5 years ago).
We had so many questions on what would be the best system and questions on the details of the entire project and George was always very helpful and quick to respond. We quoted many options from multiple vendors and decided to go with GVK based on price and his attitude and initial responses. It was a great choice!
The crew was incredibly efficient and professional, very detail oriented and clean and went well beyond necessary to ensure we were completely satisfied. They use higher quality materials for less price than their competitors! Whatever questions or issues popped up George addressed immediately. We could not be happier with the results. I strongly recommend you chose GVK! Even the 3^rd party/​independent inspector that came out during the final permitting phase went out of his way to tell me how professional the job was and that the tests came back much higher than needed, well beyond the new build code.

George and Vlad were very friendly and professional. My father-​in-​law and I spent an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with the unit. George came in and had the problem diagnosed and fixed within minutes.

I came across George’s company last year when we had an AC disaster leak at home (in the middle of August btw) which caused us to file an insurance claim for damage caused by the leak. At the time, I had a home warranty company who I reached out to so that they could send an HVAC contractor to assess and fix the problem. Unfortunately, both companies sent on behalf of the home warranty were terrible to say the least. So I decided to find a more reliable and knowledgeable company on my own and thankfully found George at GVK Mechanics Services. He came in and diagnosed our problem immediately, and had it repaired /​cleaned same day. I was beyond satisfied with his services and since I work in the real estate field I kept his contact info for my clients. Fast forward to this week… I reached out to GVK on behalf of some clients who were asked to replace their AC condenser pump. Turns out the pump did not need to get replaced, but that the leak was simply caused by dirty air filters. Ruben was sent out this time and he was just as knowledgeable and honest as George. They had the issue fixed, and for less than what the other estimate was. In addition, both technicians were very professional and knowledgeable, and very responsive to calls and texts. I highly recommend this team of professionals!

I have lived in San Diego for two years, but I had not used my HVAC system. Before another hot summer, I decided to have my system diagnosed for any problems that could occur. George came out and spent over an hour inspecting my system and teaching me all about it, where the problems were, and how the environment could affect it. What a wealth of information! He is very personable and can answer any question you ask. Instead of trying to sell me a new system right away, since the current one is 15 years old, he admitted that it looked fine for the next few years. He quickly garnered my trust, and when I need help in the future, GVK is who I will call. Highly recommended!

5 stars for GVK! They just finished installing a new furnace and AC unit for us this weekend. From start to finish they were accommodating and professional. Their prices are reasonable and the team got the job done quickly. We are so excited to finally have a/​c in our home! I would definitely recommend them!

GVK Mechanical Services did a great job. The boss, George and his crew headed by Ruben were professional and courteous. The Price for my new furnace and Air system was fair and the work was completed in a day and a half. All new ducts and registers made the air flow quiet and effective. I’m very happy to be adding yet another five star review for GVK. I would add more stars if I could. I needed a full heat and AC system with duct work installed ASAP in order to get my house on the market. George the owner came over personally and was extremely friendly and informative. He even took his shoes off at the door without asking (and while I had my shoes on!) to protect our hardwood flooring. His quote was extremely competitive and he was able to fit me into his busy schedule, telling me his crew could get the job done in a day.
His crew showed up early and were completely professional. They did a beautiful job, consulting me when there were any issues with the original plan (I have an old house and a few things needed to be adjusted during the job to save me money or because they could not place the vents where I originally wanted them due to rafter alignment, etc.). They did not leave a BIT of mess or dust or anything (I’ve dealt with many contractors and these guys were hands down the neatest). George came by at the end of the day and helped his crew finish in time. I can’t believe they finished in one day, but they did (admittedly a long day) and it turned out great. I’m extremely happy that I went with George and GVK. He will go the extra mile for you and then some. Thanks George and team for a great job!

After years of finding a sitter for the dogs during the hottest weeks of the year (and slowly melting when we were home during the heat waves), we finally decided that it would make sense to get central air (we already had central heat). After multiple quotes, we decided to go with George to install AC in both our main house (he installed a Trane 14 – 16 SEER unit) and in our detached /​granny flat (he installed two Multi-​split indoor fan coil systems). I can’t say enough great things about the experience.
*George was responsive to calls and texts, getting the quote to me and giving me 30 days to make a decision (pretty standard based on the other quotes I received).
*He encouraged me to get at least 3 quotes, and evaluated my current heating system. Where some of the other companies pressured us to upgrade the (mostly new) heating system, George said it could be upgraded and the quality could be improved, but for our usage and in this area (where a cold night is typically 50 degrees), it wasn’t necessary.
*We actually waited a year and called George back for another quote. He was again extremely responsive and wasn’t annoyed at having to come back out to the same house to provide another quote, not knowing if he’d hear from us again. He again suggested getting several quotes. Both quotes were comparable.
*Both quotes were extremely reasonable. GVK wasn’t the cheapest company to go with, but it also wasn’t the most expensive. George was knowledgeable about the products he was selling and where they would provide the most relief. He was very clear with me on areas of the house that he thought the cooling air probably wouldn’t be as strong. I appreciated his honesty and ensuring that I was on the same page as he was.
*Once we signed the quote and requested dates, he was able to get to us pretty quickly (note it is «winter» in San Diego, which contributes to why we were able to get in so quickly).
*It took one day to install the AC unit in the main house, and one day to install the split units (two of them) in the granny flat. They didn’t seem to rush it, and in fact they seemed to take their time to ensure it was done correctly.
*The crew was efficient, polite, professional, and courteous. I was comfortable leaving them alone in my house doing the work while I ran errands during the day, although it was better for me to be there as they occasionally had questions and were good at confirming locations of where things would be.
*The crew cleaned up after themselves, and took the time to answer all of my questions. Of course, they showed me how to use my new AC units in the detached and left all the appropriate paperwork for the systems. They also recommended the best way to care for the units and clean the filters, etc., which was helpful.
*We did lock the indoor cats in a room and I had a dog sitter take the dogs; George and the crew didn’t indicate it was necessary, but I figured with them coming in and out of the house with materials and such, it was easier to ensure none of the kiddos got lost or took off. I was glad I did because it made it easier for the crew to focus on the job and not whether or not they were shutting doors behind them, etc. I did bring the dogs home during the last hour or two of the install on the last day, and the crew was friendly with the dogs and patient with their natural curiosity.
*The only thing that I had to make sure I did was after they left, I had to go around and check all the doors and locks to ensure everything was locked up properly. Not all the doors were locked, but then again, they didn’t have the key either. I also had to remember to lock up the electrical panel (it’s located outside with a lock on it), and our shed, which they had checked the inside of to see if the multi system unit could fit on the wall that the shed was next to.
Overall, I would highly recommend George and his crew for any of your heating /​ac needs. They were friendly and professional, and the quality of job they did exceeded my expectations.

George was professional and friendly. Our heater wasn’t working right (turning on, but only occasionally providing heat). It took him maybe 5 minutes to figure out that the inducer wasn’t working. He came back a few days later when the part had been delivered and installed it and it worked like a charm, while he was there.
A few days after he installed the new part, the heater reverted back to its antics (though much quieter thanks to the new inducer) and George came back to diagnose it. Again, he identified the problem in maybe 5 minutes and fixed the heat sensor free of charge. Now the heater works perfectly! Thanks, George!

George and his crew did a wonderful job putting in heating and air conditioning for five of our properties! George is very professional and capable when it comes to HVAC. He was extremely patient with answering all my questions and meticulous about getting everything done right — he triple checks everything before he completes a job! His crew worked around our schedules and got each project done on time. And as the other reviews pointed out, George is such a sweet and genuine guy who even helped me lift some furniture when he came to do the initial assessment. Highly recommend George!

In the beginning of September 2015, George of GVK Mechanic Services came to our «rescue» after Dan of Global Warming & Heating left us stranded at the last minute.
It was a heat wave and our condo was sweltering hot. George kindly squeezed us in even though he was so busy. Since the A/​C was not blowing cold air, we thought it was the freon. It ended up being the control box, which he put a temporary fix on (cool air, yes!). We agreed for him to come back at a later cooler weather date to complete the fix and do a coil cleaning. A few months later, we contacted him again and he completed the job. Thank you!
George was nice and his prices were lower than many other A/​C repair businesses with high ratings!

Great customer service, very responsive, open to feedback, and reasonably priced. George was very easy to work with through a couple of jobs he and his crew did for us. Highly recommended if you are looking for HVAC work.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST!!! George is probably the sweetest, most genuine and hard working person I’ve come across in this business! WOW is all I have to say! Let me tell you about my experience… I recently had an A/​C leak in my townhouse — water everywhere and OF COURSE at the time when I needed A/​C the most — super hot and humid! I had called one of those «bigger» companies and had two of their techs come out on TWO different occasions. Both techs told me that it was my copper piping that was too small and that needed to be replaced (which would cost me MAJOR $$$$$$). Thankfully they told me they couldn’t do it for another week or so — so I had time to think this over. The next morning I woke up with water EVERYWHERE again and something just told me their diagnosis was off seeing as how I had lived here 2 years and never had this issue in the past (with the same piping so why now???)
I decided let me get a second opinion, went on Unilocal and with all the amazing Unilocal reviews about George it was a no brainer to call him. Seriously THANK GOD for you Unilocalers!!! George answered right away and told me he could be out THAT morning. I was like… ummm really??? YES!!! (Trying to contain my excitement since everyone else was telling me they couldn’t be out for days). He came out and NO JOKE diagnosed the REAL problem within 10 minutes. 10 MINUTES you guys!!! He found what TWO technicians could not figure out in two days in 10 minutes! He actually opened up my unit and saw it was FULL of ice. Told me to wait until all the ice melts and he will come back as soon as it was melted.
Long story short — he did. He came back and again completely fixed my problem about 25 minutes later. Not only that but he’s the nicest person I’ve ever come across — genuine sweet and did I mention ACTUALLY knows what he’s doing??? Oh and let’s not forget he is NOT trying to rip you off like some of these big companies seem to always try to do!!!
Now I am writing this review from my freezing cold house and I couldn’t be happier. I will be referring him to EVERYONE I know, guaranteed! Thanks soo much George I’m so ecstatic to have found you!

Accountability, honesty, and integrity are the most basic elements in doing business today, very few companies possess these basic qualities. So many times, we as consumers have been disappointed by business big and small unable to deliver what they promise.
NOT George and his crew at GVK Heating and Air. He came assessed our needs, listened to what both my wife and I had to say, and over delivered. His crew not only met our expectations but exceeded them. Out of 5 stars, George and his team get a 6 hands down. HANDS DOWN, George and his are the BEST! I purchased a 3 ton unit for my home in Spring Valley last summer. George and his crew were on time and had competitive prices! For this type of investment, I would recommend GVK to anyone! Update! The compressor went out on the unit this week. I called George, no questions asked, order the replacement, installed it and we were up and running! No hidden fees, no extra labor fees! The installation guarantee was in effect at it’s fullest!

I read so many amazing reviews about GVK that I thought they were too good to be true, but after having my AC installed by them, I am in total agreement.
I tend to do a lot of research before I make a major purchase and this was no exception. I got several other estimates from other highly rated AC companies. GVK is smaller than other companies but that often equates to better, more personalized and attentive service. George, the owner, is one of the nicest, most polite, and professional men that I have ever met. On top of that, he actually has a college degree in AC engineering so he is very knowledgable as well.
George came out to our home to do the estimate, answered all of my questions, and then was present for the entire installation. He was either doing the work himself or overseeing one of his technicians do the work. He truly cares about the quality of his work because it is HIS company and his reputation at stake. He spent considerable time with me deciding where to put the unit and explained every aspect of the installation process. He was very honest and did not try to persuade me to buy a more powerful or efficient unit (which the other companies did).
The entire installation process was very professional and went very smoothly. They worked quickly and efficiently but never cut corners. They even did some extra things (added dampers, sealed preexisting ducts, and upgraded the thermostat) all at no extra charge. The price was very reasonable compared to my other estimates and I am convinced that the finished product is far superior!
