Quick and friendly service, clean facilities. Dinged a star because I was misled about the price of an alignment.
I scheduled an appointment here after Discount Tire recommended this shop. The Discount Tire technician gave me a coupon and said «the alignment is $ 100 and $ 80 after this coupon.» The D&B Automotive employee I spoke with when I made my reservation also said the same thing, after I mentioned the Discount Tire referral and told him my brand and model to complete the appointment.
After the service was performed and I was checking out, my bill was $ 130, after coupon. I was told «an alignment for BMWs costs more than other brands.» I’m annoyed because at no point did anyone mention this price and, as far as I know, nothing special goes into aligning a BMW.
**UPDATE** After seeing my review, Michael G. responded via Unilocal AND via phone call. He apologized for the discrepancy and refunded me the difference. Didn’t waste time with questions or excuses, just straight up old school great customer service. I will be coming back for sure.

A friend of mine takes his Porsche (s) and Mercedes to Shaun and Paul and brags about how wonderful they are. Well one day I mentioned that my daughter broke her side mirror on her 2012 Jetta, my friend recommended I take it to D&B. I really didn’t think that shop that works on Porsches and Mercedes would want to take care of a Jetta, I took the car to see Paul– Paul said he would replace and fix the mirror for $ 150.- The VW Dealer wanted over $ 450.
Paul and Shaun are amazing. I will take all of our cars to D&B.- No more dealers for us!

Thank you to the owner and staff of D&B Automotive for taking care of replacing a cracked side mirror on my Subaru Tribecca after being turned away by the Subaru dealers in Kearny Mesa and Bob Baker Subaru in North County, from whom we purchased the part. Bob Baker said it would take a minimum of two hours, and no appointment was available. D&B took a look and replaced the mirror immediately in about twenty minutes. My daughter could drive safely to Los Angeles, Thank you, Thank you, thank you. We will be back!

I’ve taken both of my Land Cruisers and my wife’s Beetle to Dennis and his guys for years. Always on time and within estimate, they problem solve to find the best solution. Awesome place.

I am so impressed. I took my car by to get it checked out the same day after work and they didn’t press me to do anything unnecessary. They took a quick look under the hood, told me what to watch for, and sent me on my way. I was so thankful and the mechanic replied, «I didn’t do anything». I don’t think some people realize that just being honest is doing something great for a young woman who knows nothing about cars. It is a sad state of affairs but that is just the way it is!

This place makes my day. I literally just left after getting my rear brakes replaced (pads AND rotors) for less than $ 350! I brought my mom’s car in for a diagnosis; no charge! Dennis and the guys are professional, friendly, funny, AND HONEST! I’ve brought my last three cars in here, I trust them implicitly!

Dennis at D&B Automotive has my highest rating. Not only does he look like Santa Claus, but his service is just as good! Service is extraordinary, work is reliable, and he goes the extra mile (at his own cost) to make sure my cars are working. It’s easy to schedule with D&B, they know cars, and they do great work. I’ve sent my wife and female employees there, and he treats them like people (rare in the automotive world).

I took my Lexus convertible to D&B for a 7a.m. appointment, and it was ready by 10, with new back brakes and a clean bill of health. Everyone i encountered working there was polite and helpful, and I felt that I, with little knowledge of the mysterious workings of car machinery, was in very good hands. The cost of the service was just $ 285.00, and I was glad to pay it with ho hassle and no hustle. I would recommend this shop to anyone in need of auto repairs.

They’re honest. I’ve been to dishonest shops, and shops that are looking to make a quick buck upselling you on other repairs. This is not one of those shops.
They’ve been my go to shop since I discovered them a couple of years ago. Dennis has been one of the most honest mechanics I’ve dealt with, and I’m glad to have found them.

I LOVE THIS MECHANIC!!! Seriously. It can be tough as a woman to find a mechanic you can trust, you know, one who doesn’t see you as someone to take advantage of. I first discovered Dennis (the «D» of D & B) when I needed to have the engine of my 1959 Impala rebuilt. He was the perfect person for the job– gave me exactly what I needed, no more, no less. Since then, he has maintained all my cars; a 2002 PT Cruiser, a few VW’s, and the aforementioned Impala.
What I really appreciate about D & B is that if you go in expecting to need a new transmission, Dennis often says «no, you need a 5 $ gasket.» He will also be the first one to say «You can go another 5000 miles before we do the brakes.» He has your best interest in mind, and will NOT do work that is unnecessary just to make a quick buck.
His integrity means his shop is very popular– often a line of cars out the door! Be he always does the work in a timely fashion. You can’t miss with D & B!

Got towed here, after breaking down on the freeway, to fix my busted radiator. The guys here are very friendly and seem like great people. He got to my car right away and even finished a little before quoted, which was nice.
Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because he wanted to charge me $ 280 for the part and after calling around I can buy it myself for anywhere from $ 120-​$ 160…that’s a pretty hefty mark up… After telling him that he did drop the price a little, but it cost me not getting my hoses replaced. Hopefully my next break down isn’t due to a bad radiator hose!

Quick, friendly, great location. I had a front headlight that was out and they showed me how to change it. (I have zero experience and zero interest in cars…) He walked me through what parts I might need to change soon (I have a ’97 Pathfinder), why, and what I could do now versus later.
I can’t speak for the price because I have really no understanding of what a reasonably priced mechanic would charge. It’s an independent and local business (been there for 30 years) so I decided to give them a try before running elsewhere.

I’ve seen Dennis here for work on my car, and my partner has sent his cars there and referred people, and we have never been disappointed or felt overcharged, or gotten negative feedback. For that alone I am giving 5 stars.
It’s never fun to have to lay out money for repair and upkeep on your car (kind of like going to the dentist sometimes!), but rest assured at least you can trust these folks to not recommend work you don’t need, or pad their labor hours, or do other shady things we women particularly may have experienced when we had to take our cars into the shop (I once had a guy at a national chain auto repair shop tell me I needed about $ 1,000 worth of work on my newer Dodge Neon, when I got a second opinion turned out it just needed a $ 10 part!!)
This will NOT happen here though.
