History

Established in 2007.

Aptera Studios Wedding photography is located on Fifth Ave. in the Gaslamp district of San Diego. The owner, Jaime Tardiff, has over 15 years of experience garnering awards including 2 from ASMPNY. We are dedicated to creating outstandingly captured images for your wedding day, and love to find creative new ways to photograph each wedding that we are privileged to be included in. We will consult with you to determine which aspects of our photography are most important to you, and will adjust our photography to fit your needs, so that we will be able to deliver exactly what you are looking for. We will thoroughly plan for your wedding day, and will scout your location beforehand to be fully prepared for every photographic opportunity on your special day.

Business Owner

Jaime Tardiff is the owner, and the heart and soul of Aptera Studios. He was previously involved in the field of fine art and documentary photography garnering many awards including 2 from The American Society of Media Photographers in New York City. He discovered his love of wedding photography after being asked by a friend to photograph a wedding. He wasn’t sure that his creative vision would work with the couples wedding, but was told that they’d be thrilled with whatever he did. After realizing that not only was wedding photography extremely fun, but that he could remain true to his vision, he decided to begin photographing weddings professionally and has never looked back! His work has been featured in San Diego Style weddings magazine, and Exquisite weddings Magazine. Although based in San Diego, he is available for weddings world wide, and plans on adding film photography

Wow! Just W.O.W
Jaime took senior pictures of our son a few weeks ago, and what a great job! On time, professional, patient, creative and what a nice guy. He had locations lined up for us and made what could have taken all day fly by in just a couple of hours. All of our friends are asking who took such great pictures! I tried to tell them it was me, but had to confess that Jaime was the man.

Aptera Studios does fabulous work! Jaime makes it fun and the results are excellent!
Jaime had shared his beautiful photographic work with me a few years ago but since my son was still only in his teens I was in no hurry to need wedding photography. Jaime replied that he could certainly also do Senior Photos.
Fast forward to now — my son is graduating from Steele Canyon High and so I got in touch with Jaime. I am so glad I did. On a lovely Sunday afternoon we treked through Balboa Park and Jaime knows the most beautiful spots! Jaime kept us moving but was so relaxed and fun to be with.
Since my husband and I accompanied our son we got some wonderful family shots as well. Jaime makes everything you want work out (photographically –that is). The variety of shots and different perspectives worked out perfectly for graduation announcements as well as some great framed prints at home.
When the appropriate time for a wedding comes, Jaime will definitely be our go to photographer. Until then, I highly recommend Aptera Studios for photography of any of your life events that you want captured with a fresh eye and constant attention to detail and to your wishes.

Jaime was incredible to work with! He goes above and beyond to get the perfect photo and to make the overall experience an enjoyable one. My husband and I loved how personable and fun to work with he was. It was so helpful of him to let us be ourselves in each of our photos but also make sure each one looked sharp and professional. He was extremely down to earth and understood that our family and friends wanted to «play photographer» sometimes too with their smartphones but never let a good shot get past him. We highly recommend him to anyone, including people we may not like, because no one should miss out on such a memorable experience with an amazing photographer!

Jaime Tardiff with Aptera Studios is AWESOME!!! His pictures are gorgeous, he’s super flexible about scheduling date/time & location for engagement photos, and he gives great suggestions that turn into beautiful photos. He provides 10 hours of wedding day photography with a 2^nd shooter, whereas most photographers only do 6 or 8 hours. If you’re tight on budget, he’ll let you pick & choose what you want to include in your package to make it fit your needs.
If you’re considering using Aptera Studios, JUST DO IT!!!

Jaime is absolutely brilliant and wonderfully artistic. He shot our engagement photos and we could not have been happier with how they turned out. They were unique to the type of shoot, our personal style, and the location and not the same old typical engagement photos so many people have. We purchased a high resolution disc and a guest book from the shoot. The guest book is beautiful and each page contained pictures of us from the engagement shoot as well as lines for our guests to sign at the wedding. It was so awesome to have something so personalized that we could use. Jaime also shot our wedding photos and from the preview we have received they are also fantastic. We can’t wait to see the rest! He ensured that he got every picture we wanted, was always on the lookout for a shot we would love, and talked to us beforehand about ideas he had for the day of. I will definitely use Jaime for all of our future photography needs!

Jaime is the primary photographer. He is extremely involved in the process. He came to our rehearsal to get the lay of the land ahead of time and helped with the logistics to make sure everything was going to be visually appealing and right for the best pictures.
During our engagement pictures, he was patient as we figured out good poses and angles and stepped in when we were doing something weird or awful looking, which I really appreciated and wanted.
He and his assistant Joel spent about 10 hours with us on our wedding day. They documented my bridesmaids and me getting married, the groom and groomsmen getting ready, the pre-ceremony tea hour that the groom hosted, first look photos, formal pictures at the beach, the ceremony and then all the interesting parts of the reception. They left after all the big reception stuff like cake cutting and bouquet toss were done and older guests were starting to leave. If they’d stayed any later, it would’ve just been pictures of everybody sweaty and drunkenly dancing, so it’s not like they missed anything important or attractive enough to be picture-worthy!
Joel, the assistant, was fun, friendly and did a great job getting alternate angles for what Jaime was working on. They worked extremely well together.
Our engagement photos and wedding photos are absolutely gorgeous! Jaime looks at every single picture and touches it up and adjusts it as necessary, so each picture is beautiful.
One of my bridesmaids actually commented about some of the wedding dress on a hanger pictures that Jaime took that she «didn’t see it» when it was happening (i.e. didn’t get what he was doing, didn’t think it was going to look good) but when she saw the finished product, it was «amazing.»
